In today's episode, we're talking about the disease state we call metabolic syndrome which is coming unless we adjust course. Knee surgeries, diabetic medications, stents to open blocked coronary arteries, arthritis, dementia, erectile dysfunction, loss of opportunity to enjoy activities. This is the way of friends, family, coworkers, you name it. But if you choose to live differently, you can bypass the metabolic mess. Metabolic syndrome is simply cells losing the capacity to create energy and refurbish themselves efficiently. Private payrolls in the latest ADP employment report ticked to the downside, which Alex Coffey suggests can send a stronger signal to the FOMC to cut interest rates. One strange green shoot seen at the opening bell: Tesla (TSLA), which rallied despite its underwhelming vehicle deliveries for the second quarter. Alex later turns to Big Tech as a whole and talks about its role in driving market strength.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. In this powerful conversation, I'm joined by functional dietitian and thyroid expert Nicole Fennell, RD/N, to unpack the hidden ways chronic stress, undereating, and over-exercising can wreck your metabolism, suppress your thyroid, and shut down your cycle. We explore how a sluggish thyroid can go undetected on standard lab work, and why low estrogen and thyroid dysfunction are deeply connected If you're ready to finally understand the real reason behind your missing period, low energy, and brain fog—this episode is for you. Nicole Fennell is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, functional medicine expert, and the founder of Chews Food Wisely—a private practice where she and her team help women uncover the root causes of symptoms like fatigue, bloating, hormone imbalances, and thyroid dysfunction through a food-first approach. Shoot us a Text.Episode #1059: Today we're talking about the strength of dealership valuations despite sluggish buy-sells, Waymo's exponential takeover of the robotaxi race, and why your old boss might be your next one.Show Notes with links:The Q1 2025 Haig Partners Report says that despite solid performance metrics, dealership buy-sells dropped to the lowest first-quarter level in a decade, reflecting uncertainty in a year shaped by economic and political headwinds.Only 68 rooftops were sold, as public groups largely sat out; a sharp contrast to recent high-activity periods.Public dealers averaged $1M in Q1 pre-tax profits, with trailing 12-months at $3.9M—nearly double pre-pandemic levels.Blue sky values held firm at $20.7M, down just 1% from Q4 2024 and still nearly double pre-2020 benchmarks.Tariff concerns, election-year volatility, and OEM pricing strategies have many sellers in a wait-and-see mode.“These are often short-term fluctuations in what is ultimately a long-term business,” the report notes. What started as a quiet experiment has exploded into a transportation revolution. Waymo's self-driving service is scaling at a staggering pace, reshaping rider habits and leaving competitors scrambling to catch up.The ride-hailing company passed 10 million cumulative rides, with 20 million projected by year's end. Weekly rides jumped from 10K in 2023 to over 250K by mid-2025.March alone saw a 27% spike in San Francisco usage—a major behavioral shift.Expansion continues in Phoenix, LA, SF, and Austin; plus, Waymo is mapping 10+ new cities including Tokyo.Tesla is set to launch its own robotaxi service, using a camera-only, AI-first approach—far cheaper but less tested than Waymo's sensor-heavy, safety-first model.“This isn't science fiction. It's not the future. It's happening now,” said Co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana. As economic uncertainty lingers, both workers and employers are turning to familiarity. The share of new hires who are former employees—aka boomerang workers—is climbing again, especially in tech and media.March data shows that 35% of hires were returning employees, particularly in the information sector.Employers value boomerangs for cultural fit, performance history, and quick onboarding.Job seekers face longer searches and more layoffs—making old employers more appealing.Experts say your exit matters—managers increasingly view resignations as a potential pause, not a goodbye.“You want to get the best bang for your buck, and often it's a returning employee,” said ADP Chief Economist Nela RichardsonJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

In this episode, we break down why global EV sales have surged 29% in the first four months of 2025 while U.S. sales have only grown 5%. We explore what's fueling growth in China and the EU—including aggressive incentives, infrastructure investments, and strict emissions regulations—and compare that to the challenges holding back American adoption. From charging gaps and range anxiety to cultural preferences for trucks and large SUVs, we dig into what's slowing the U.S. down and what needs to happen for EVs to take off stateside.

Kevin and Zach welcome back Scott Shrader to talk digital dentistry and specifically about Medit scanners and software. Both Zach and Al are current Medit users so the episode is a great one if you're new to scanning or want to incorporate digital dentistry into your workflow even more! 3D Dentist Approach: While courses often involve scanners, 3D Dentist is largely scanner-agnostic, focusing on techniques. Importance of Training & Support: Scott emphasizes the critical role of knowledgeable support and hands-on training (like that provided by 3D Tech/3D Dentist) when integrating technology, contrasting it with less specialized support from large suppliers. Support is ongoing for products purchased through them. Medit Overview: A South Korean company celebrating 25 years (mostly lab scanners, ~7 years for intraoral). Medit's Value Proposition: No annual fees, free software, and free software upgrades are key differentiators. Medit Link Software Suite (The "Apps"): A powerful, free suite accessible even to non-Medit scanner users (importing STLs). Includes free apps like Model Builder, Crown Design, Night Guard/Bite Splint, Ortho Simulation. Newer, more powerful CAD features (AI Final Crown, Provisional, Inlays/Onlays, Bridge Design) are being introduced with a per-export fee, but the core remains free. AI Crown Design: Discussion on how AI differs from standard proposals (better morphology matching, less tweaking, potential AI margination) vs. algorithms. Practical Scanning Tips & Troubleshooting: Marking margins: Alan does, Zach doesn't – lab preferences vary. Sluggish scanning fixes: Ensure the laptop is plugged in, perform all updates (Windows, graphics drivers, Medit Link), check scanner tip condition (rated for ~100 autoclave cycles, look for degradation/spots). Technique: Dry teeth well, use the white light setting for scanning through blood, proper path/tissue capture (especially around canines). Hardware: i700 vs. i900: The i900 is smaller, lighter, has a larger scan area, multiple tip sizes, and is generally smoother, especially for full arches and scanning through blood. The i900 "Classic" brings back the physical button many users missed. Recommended Medit Apps to Explore: Model Builder & Bite Splint: Great, easy entry points for CAD, good for team delegation (requires printer for output). Ortho Simulation: Automated simulation of tooth movement. Smile Design: Powerful tool using even basic phone photos, creates a shareable before/after slider for patient communication. App Access: Apps run on the scanning computer but can be accessed remotely by logging into your Medit Link account on another computer (requires downloading case files). Integrations: Medit Link integrates with third-party software and platforms (SprintRay Cloud, Exocad, etc.).
