Confira:  Ao chegar à cidade, vi jogos de azar, lojas de cannabis, lojas “só para adultos” e propagandas enormes para advogados oportunistas. Embora eu já tivesse visitado muitas cidades vulgares antes, naquela, o nível parecia baixo demais. Meu humor só melhorou quando falei com um motorista de táxi na manhã seguinte: “Peço a Deus que me envie as pessoas que Ele quer que eu ajude”, disse ele. “Jogadores adictos em jogos de azar, prostitutas, pessoas com lares destruídos contam-me os seus problemas chorando. Daí paro o carro, escuto-os e oro por eles. Este é o meu ministério”. Depois de descrever a vinda de Jesus ao nosso mundo caído (FILIPENSES 2:5-8), Paulo chama a atenção dos cristãos. Ao buscarmos a vontade de Deus (v.13) e nos apegarmos à “mensagem da vida”, o evangelho (v.16), seremos “filhos de Deus […] resplandecentes num mundo cheio de gente corrompida e perversa” que brilham “como luzes resplandecentes” (v.15). Como o motorista de táxi, devemos trazer a luz de Jesus à escuridão. O historiador Christopher Dawson disse que “o cristão só precisa viver com fé para mudar o mundo, pois exatamente no ato de viver “está contido todo o mistério da vida divina”. Peçamos ao Espírito Santo de Deus que nos capacite a viver fielmente como povo de Jesus, refletindo Sua luz nos lugares mais sombrios do mundo.  Por: SHERIDAN VOYSEY

Confira:  Quando menino, Mário achava o seu pai severo e distante. Até quando adoecia e precisava ir ao pediatra, seu pai resmungava. Durante uma briga, ouviu e soube que seu pai queria que ele tivesse sido abortado. O sentimento de ser indesejado o acompanhou até a idade adulta. Quando ele se tornou cristão, achou difícil relacionar-se com Deus como seu Pai, embora já o conhecesse como Senhor de sua vida. Se, como ele, não nos sentimos amados por nossos pais terrenos, podemos enfrentar dúvidas semelhantes em nosso relacionamento com Deus e talvez nos questionemos: Sou um fardo para Ele? Deus se importa comigo? Mesmo se nossos pais terrenos tiverem sido severos e distantes, Deus, nosso Pai celestial, nos diz: “Eu o amo” (ISAÍAS 43:4). Deus fala como Criador e como Pai. Se você deseja saber se Ele quer que você viva sob Seu cuidado como parte de Sua família, ouça o que Ele disse ao Seu povo: “Tragam de volta meus filhos e filhas, desde os confins da terra” (v.6). Se você questiona seu valor para Ele, ouça Sua afirmação: “você é precioso para mim, é honrado e eu o amo” (v.4). Deus nos ama tanto que enviou Jesus para pagar o preço do pecado a fim de que nós, que cremos nele, possamos estar com o Senhor para sempre (JOÃO 3:16). Confira:  Durante o ano letivo, por três anos, Camila fantasiou-se diferente para cumprimentar suas crianças que desciam do ônibus escolar todas as tardes. Isso alegrava a todos no ônibus, até o motorista: “Ela traz tanta alegria para as crianças; é incrível! Amo isso”. Os filhos de Camila concordam. Tudo começou quando Camila começou a ser mãe social. Sabendo o quanto é difícil distanciar-se dos pais e frequentar uma escola nova, ela começou a cumprimentar as crianças estando fantasiada. Após três dias, as crianças não queriam que ela parasse. Camila continuou e investiu tempo e dinheiro em brechós, e como descreveu uma repórter, trouxe um “resultado inestimável: felicidade”. Um pequeno versículo no livro de conselhos sábios e espirituosos, em grande parte do rei Salomão para seu filho, resume os resultados das brincadeiras dessa mãe: “O coração alegre é um bom remédio, mas o espírito abatido consome as forças” (PROVÉRBIOS 17:22). Ao trazer alegria para todos os seus filhos (biológicos, adotivos ou amparados), ela esperava evitar a tristeza de coração. Deus, por meio do Espírito Santo, é a fonte da alegria verdadeira e duradoura (LUCAS 10:21; GÁLATAS 5:22). O Espírito nos permite refletir a luz de Deus ao tentarmos levar alegria aos outros, alegria que oferece esperança e força para enfrentar as provações. Por: ALYSON KIEDA 

LEITURA BÍBLICA DO DIA: 2 CORÍNTIOS 12:2-10 PLANO DE LEITURA ANUAL: EZEQUIEL 11–13; TIAGO 1  Já fez seu devocional hoje? Aproveite e marque um amigo para fazer junto com você! Confira:  Grainger McKoy é um artista que estuda e esculpe pássaros, capturando a graça, a vulnerabilidade e a capacidade deles. Uma das suas obras chama-se Recovery (Recuperação) e mostra a asa direita de um pato pintail, bem esticada e em posição vertical. Abaixo, uma placa descreve a recuperação da ave como “o momento de maior fraqueza durante o voo, mas também o de reunir forças para a jornada à frente”. Grainger inclui este versículo: “Minha graça é tudo de que você precisa. Meu poder opera melhor na fraqueza” (2 CORÍNTIOS 12:9). O apóstolo Paulo escreveu essas palavras à igreja em Corinto. Nessa época, sobrecarregado com lutas pessoais, Paulo suportou e implorou a Deus que removesse o que descreveu como “um espinho na carne” (v.7). Sua aflição pode ter sido uma doença física, ou uma oposição espiritual, como foi com Jesus no jardim, na noite anterior à Sua crucificação (LUCAS 22:39-44). Paulo repetidamente pediu a Deus que removesse seu sofrimento. O Espírito Santo respondeu assegurando-lhe de que lhe daria a força necessária, e Paulo aprendeu: “quando sou fraco, então é que sou forte” (2 CORÍNTIOS 12:10). Ah, os espinhos que experimentamos nesta vida! Como um pássaro reunindo forças para a jornada à frente, podemos pedir a força de Deus para nos auxiliar. On a day when the City Ground paid tribute to those who had fought in wars, along with Stephen Crean and the heroes of last week's train attack, Sean Dyche's Nottingham Forest fought back from a goal down to record a fine victory before the international break. Despite an early concession to Lukas Nmecha, the Reds quickly equalised through Ibrahim Sangaré, and although they dominated most of the first half they couldn't edge in front. Three second half subs made a big difference though, and the energy and aggression of Awoniyi, Yates and Hutchinson saw the latter get an assist and win a penalty to put the game beyond the visitors.
