Todd and José discuss their thoughts on the match, with topics including Bradley Carnell's clear frustrations over the lack of depth on the Union roster, Carnell's second-half changes, and what the second half of the MLS season could look like for both Carnell and the Philadelphia Union organization as a whole. Join Matt Clark (@MattClark_08) and Harry Gillies as they review the latest round of fixtures from Spain's top flight.Barcelona can't celebrate yet. Their city rivals Espanyol fell to Real Madrid at home, meaning El Clásico next week could be when the league is sealed for the Culers. We discuss the challenges facing the next Real Madrid manager, as Los Blancos have now gone two seasons without lifting a major trophy. Meanwhile, Barcelona will need to find a replacement for Lewandowski if they want to make a proper run in the Champions League next season. There is a great contest for the European places, with Real Betis and Celta Vigo having picked up their league form after heartbreaking Europa League exits. Athletic Club are also in the mix, after a 4-2 win away to Alavés, won by a delightful finish by Nico Williams. The relegation battle is just as exciting, with Mallorca beating and leapfrogging a wasteful Girona, while Valencia slip further down after failing to beat an Atleti side made up mostly of academy players. And of course, what was seemingly impossible is now becoming likely - the relegation of Sevilla, who have it all to do tonight against Real Sociedad. We break it all down, so we hope you enjoy. Then, it's time to look ahead, as Real Madrid travel to take on a tough Real Betis side (46:15), and Barcelona travel to square off against the villains of La Liga, Getafe (52:16).

After Villa's first leg 3-1 win in Bologna, the second leg at Villa Park seems to be a formality, but Unai Emery will take in the lessons of Bologna's win in Roma in the previous round. Champions League football isn't quite in touching distance just yet.In this Europa Vision episode of the My Old Man Said podcast show, we take in the full picture: the Bologna second leg and what Emery needs to do tactically to see it out, the Forest versus Porto quarter-final that is poised far more delicately than expected, and what the rest of the draw means for Villa's route to Istanbul. On the other side: Freiburg dismantled Celta Vigo 3-0. Betis face Braga. Neither represents the sort of obstacle that has stopped Emery winning this tournament before. Villa's analysts were already spotted at the Braga versus Betis game. The show's read is clear - if Villa get their league business done in the next four games and arrive in Istanbul without Champions League anxiety, this could be the performance everyone has been waiting for all season. Also: the Champions League maths, the surprising points target, Victor Lindelof dragging Sweden to the World Cup despite Graham Potter, the warehouse that was sold back to the club for millions and Albert Adomah's impressive milestone in the EFL.UTVListen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.Become a MOMS Member for ad-free & extra shows - MOMS MembershipJoin the show's listener Facebook group The Mad Few.Credits:David Michael - @myoldmansaid | Chris Budd - @BUDD_music / Phillip Shaw - @prsgameThis Podcast has been created and uploaded by My Old Man Said. We're back for the 1st legs of the Europa and Conference League quarterfinals and we got a jam-packed Thursday full of goals! We tackle all the best action from both competitions, from Forest's improbable draw in Porto to Freiburg's demolition of Celta Vigo, from Fiorentina's humiliation in South London to Shakhtar's shocking late rout of AZ Alkmaar. Plus we answer all of your most pressing questions: How has Urs Fischer turns Mainz around so dramatically, and how did he out-maneuver Gary O'Neil's injury-riddled Strasbourg? What went wrong for Bologna after a promising opening against Villa, and is Jonathan Rowe an emerging star? Could Braga actually upset Betis in Sevilla, and why is Max always so mean to them? All that, a lookahead to the 2nd legs, and of course, a pitstop at David's Coefficient Corner. Cheers to Urs Fischer!

We are BACK! A DR vacation is nice, but it's nothing compared to Europa and Conference League 2nd legs. That's right, we're here to talk all of Thursday's best action beginning with Bologna's surprise triumph in Roma in extra time and Nottingham Forest's comeback quest in Midtjylland (including some unfortunate penalties). We also have lots of praise for the UEL's Spanish offerings in Betis and Celta Vigo, who are hitting their European strides at the right time, and elevate Porto to a top tier contender after a mightily impressive dismissal of Stuttgart. Meanwhile, in the UECL, Palace fails to beat AEK Larnaca in 90 minutes for the THIRD time this season, but both they and Fiorentina do what they do (and squeak through). We discuss how on earth they manage this and what we can expect when these two very movable forces meet each other in the next round. Additionally, we have lots of praise for AZ and AEK Athens, who look like confident sleepers to make a run. We also do an impromptu title power rankings in each competition as we look ahead to the exciting Quarterfinals matchups, assessing which clubs have our confidence and what's changed in the past month. Cheers to Francesco Farioli!

Just when it looked like Real Madrid's week was going from bad to worse, Fede Valverde stepped up. His 94th-minute rocket at Celta Vigo snatched a dramatic 2-1 win, a vital response after back-to-back defeats that keeps the title race firmly alive. Barcelona did what champions do, they found a way. A gritty 1-0 win at fortress San Mamés restores their four-point lead at the top. Lamine Yamal's second-half strike, was the difference between the sides. Atletico Madrid served up Friday night fireworks, edging Real Sociedad 3-2 in a thriller at the Metropolitano. Alexander Sørloth bagged a brace as Simeone's side hold onto third, proving once again that with Atleti , drama is never far away. The Playoff Knockout Round is behind us, and we're here to break it all down. It was a day in which favorites prevailed, though not without strife. Fiorentina did a Fiorentina and survived by the skin of their teeth, while Nottingham Forest performed a decent impression for 50 minutes. Elsewhere, Celta Vigo and Stuttgart stake their claim as major players in deciding the Europa League crown, Lille turns things around in Belgrade, Panathinaikos prevails on penalties, VAR drama, and Crystal Palace muddles through. We also take a moment to look ahead to the Round of 16 draw, featuring some stellar matchups in both divisions. All that and much more on today's show! Cheers to Claudio Giráldez!

Griffin Warner talks betting for Thursday January 22nd Griffin Warner opened his latest betting breakdown with a wide ranging look at the week's most prominent markets, beginning with the NFL conference championship matchups and extending through European soccer and college basketball. His analysis centered first on New England traveling to Denver, where the Patriots were listed as four and a half point road favorites with a total of forty two and a half. Warner focused on the quarterback situation for Denver, noting that Jared Sittum was expected to start after Bo Nix suffered a broken ankle late in the previous round. He framed the spread as a strong market reaction to the quarterback change and questioned whether it overstated the true gap between the teams. Warner emphasized Denver's defense as the primary driver of its top seed status and suggested that the total, rather than the side, offered more value. He highlighted the under, particularly in the first half, based on expectations of conservative offense, ball control, and limited explosive plays. Turning to the late game, Warner examined the Rams as short road underdogs against Seattle with a total of forty seven. He described a matchup shaped by familiarity, coaching tendencies, and narrow margins in prior meetings. Despite recent inconsistency from Los Angeles, Warner argued the Rams matched up well with Seattle and were live to win outright, expressing interest in grabbing a full field goal if it reappeared before kickoff. He characterized the game as likely tight throughout, with special teams and late game decisions playing an outsized role. Warner then shifted to the UEFA Europa League, where motivation and situational edges formed the backbone of his approach. He highlighted Real Betis as quarter goal underdogs away at PAOK, stressing Betis's incentive to secure a top eight finish and bypass the knockout round. He also discussed Viktoria Plzen hosting Porto, Fenerbahce versus Aston Villa, Roma against Stuttgart, and Celta Vigo hosting Lille, repeatedly returning to the importance of draws, defensive structure, and pricing around quarter and three quarter goal lines. Warner explained how Asian handicap splits can protect bettors in draw heavy competitions and create incremental value. In college basketball, he described a thin Thursday slate, briefly touching on Wisconsin at Penn State, South Florida at UAB, and South Dakota State at St. Thomas, while noting market uncertainty and situational volatility. He closed by offering a promotional discount code and officially logged Real Betis as his personal wager for the day, reinforcing his belief that motivation and price aligned in their favor Learn more about your ad choices.
