Bayern Munich are in scarily good form at the moment and should benefit from the return of Harry Kane for Saturday's Bundesliga trip to BayArena. Vincent Kompany's side smashed Atalanta 6-1 in Bergamo on Tuesday without the England striker, who also missed their 4-1 home win over Monchengladbach last weekend.Leverkusen also impressed on the continental stage in midweek and their performance in a 1-1 draw against Arsenal should give them confidence, but the visit of the Bundesliga leaders represents an even tougher test.

On this episode, Harry Symeou looks back on Bayer Leverkusen 1-1 Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie. The hosts took the lead early through Robert Andrich but should he have been on the pitch? The Gunners found an equaliser late on after substitute Noni Madueke was brought down in the penalty area before former Leverkusen star and darling of the BayArena Kai Havertz converted the spot-kick to wipe out the host's lead. Again, there are question marks over Arsenal's attacking performance, why are we so lacklustre at times? We get into all of that and more. Plus, we take your thoughts/questions from the live chat box. Arsenal leave Germany with a draw, but the performance in Leverkusen sparks plenty of debate. In this episode of The Non-Negotiables Podcast, the team breaks down the 1–1 draw away to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League Round of 16. From the starting XI decisions and early refereeing controversies to Martinelli rattling the crossbar and a frustrating attacking display, the discussion explores where the performance fell short and why Arsenal struggled to impose themselves on the game. The panel looks closely at the tactical setup, including the continued use of the double pivot and Jurriën Timber's advanced role, while analysing difficult nights for several key players. Bukayo Saka's performance, Martinelli's finishing, and the absence of Martin Ødegaard all feature in a wider conversation about how Arsenal are currently building attacks — and why the team is finding it harder to break down organised opponents.Attention then turns to the decisive moment late in the match as Noni Madueke wins a controversial penalty. Was there enough contact? Would it have been overturned in the Premier League? Kai Havertz steps up to convert and rescue the draw, but the debate continues over whether Arsenal escaped Leverkusen with a fortunate result or earned it through persistence.Beyond the match itself, the hosts discuss the wider context of Arsenal's season — the fine margins, the physical demands of the schedule, and the mentality that has kept the team difficult to beat across competitions.Part two shifts to the regular features, including the Who Am I? game and the weekend prediction segment, with Liverpool vs Tottenham and Chelsea vs Newcastle under the spotlight. Finally, the conversation turns back to Arsenal with a preview of the upcoming Premier League clash against Everton. With the title race tightening and a demanding run of fixtures ahead — including the second leg against Leverkusen and the Carabao Cup final — the team assesses squad rotation, injury concerns, and the importance of maintaining control in the margins that define championship seasons.Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables & Intro(00:51) - Starting XI Reaction: Havertz on the Bench & Tactical Setup(02:34) - Early Refereeing Controversy & Champions League Standards Debate(07:15) - Martinelli Hits the Bar: Arsenal's Best First-Half Chance(08:04) - Saliba & Gabriel Struggles Playing Out From the Back(09:08) - Half-Time Verdict: Good Arsenal or Bad Arsenal?(09:29) - “Atrocious Arsenal” Second-Half Start & Leverkusen Goal(11:14) - Arsenal Response Debate & Control vs Reality(13:21) - Timber's Advanced Role & Lack of Attacking Penetration(15:03) - Saka Subbed Off & Madueke Impact Discussion(17:09) - Arsenal Chase the Game & Havertz Introduction(18:54) - Late Penalty Controversy: Was It Soft?(24:32) - Arteta vs Player Responsibility Debate(26:34) - Stats & Tactical Discussion: Double Pivot vs Single Pivot(31:47) - Martinelli Debate & Left-Wing Concerns(33:08) - Havertz Equaliser & Arsenal Escape with 1–1 Draw(33:33) - Champions League Round-of-16 Reactions & English Teams Struggle(37:01) - Winter Break Debate & European Scheduling Impact(39:58) - Part 2 Intro & “Who Am I?” Game(41:20) - Prediction Game: Liverpool vs Tottenham(48:51) - Chelsea vs Newcastle Preview(51:26) - Six Pack: Everton vs Arsenal Six “Business End” Talking Points(54:09) - Arsenal vs Everton Match Preview(56:35) - Squad Rotation Discussion: Havertz, Saka, Madueke & White(59:17) - Left Wing Debate: Martinelli vs Alternatives(01:05:53) - Final Everton Match Thoughts(01:07:39) - “Who Am I?” Answer Revealed

Post‑Leverkusen (A) UCL R16 L1 / Pre‑Everton (H)Hotel Rooms, Red Bulls & a Ropey 1–1Recorded the morning after Arsenal's Champions League Round of 16 first leg in Leverkusen, Tabs and Mos deliver a very different episode — live from a Cologne hotel room, running on limited sleep, too much caffeine, and the emotional hangover of a frustrating 1–1 draw.We relive the entire away‑day experience: travel disasters, train strikes, last‑minute flights, Red Bull‑fuelled insomnia, and the surreal vibe of watching Arsenal in Germany for the first time. On the pitch, they break down a performance that felt flat, disjointed, and strangely passive. Saka struggled, Eze drifted, Martinelli couldn't get going, and even Saliba and Gabriel looked shaky. Tabs and Mos dig into why Arsenal never found rhythm, how Leverkusen controlled phases without creating much, and why Odegaard's absence left a glaring “O‑zone” hole in midfield. There were positives: Noni Madueke's impact off the bench, Havertz's ice‑cold penalty, and the fact that Arsenal leave Germany level — a result that looks a lot better when compared to the other English clubs' first‑leg disasters. The episode wraps with a look ahead to Everton at home: the lineup questions, the fitness concerns, and why Arsenal need to snap back into gear quickly with the season entering its decisive stretch.Key Talking PointsChaos in Cologne: travel nightmares, caffeine overdoses, and hotel‑room podcastingThe BayArena experience: friendly staff, easy access, and a strange “friendly‑match” vibe early onSaka's off‑day, Eze's nonchalance, Martinelli's struggles, and an off defensive displayNoni Madueke's directness vs Saka's stop‑start styleHavertz's penalty narrative and composureLeverkusen's control vs Arsenal's lack of intensityThe away‑end infighting and negativityChampions League context: a draw that might age wellEverton preview: selection dilemmas, fatigue, and the need to resetFollow, rate, and subscribe on your favourite podcast app.Find us on socials: @thegroveafcThis is The Grove, and everyone is welcome. Episode DescriptionArsenal are through — but it wasn't pretty. In this episode of The Non-Negotiables Podcast, the lads break down Arsenal's gritty FA Cup win away at Mansfield. With injuries piling up and the fixture list tightening, Mikel Arteta rotated heavily — including handing competitive starts to two Hale End 16-year-olds: Max Dowman and Marley Salmon. The hosts unpack the unusual lineup, the confusing early shape, and how Arsenal eventually settled into the match after a tactical switch and a return to a familiar back four. There's detailed reaction to Noni Madueke's opener, Mansfield's equaliser after defensive hesitation, and the moment of quality that ultimately settled the tie — a brilliant strike from Eberechi Eze.Attention then turns to the worrying moment of the night as Riccardo Calafiori goes down with another muscular injury — raising fresh questions about availability at a critical stage of the season. The conversation moves to the bigger picture as the hosts analyse Arsenal's remarkable resilience this year: just three defeats in forty-six matches across all competitions. With injuries affecting key players such as Martin Ødegaard, the squad's ability to adapt and keep winning becomes a major theme of the discussion.Part two shifts to the off-pitch headlines as the panel reacts to Edu's sudden exit from Nottingham Forest, debating what it says about sporting director roles, ownership structures, and the chaos that can surround certain clubs. There's also frustration directed toward Norway manager Ståle Solbakken after his latest comments about Ødegaard's injury situation — and what it could mean ahead of the upcoming international fixtures. Finally, the focus turns to Europe as Arsenal prepare for a huge Champions League trip to face Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. The hosts discuss Leverkusen's form, possible tactical approaches from both sides, and how Arsenal should approach the tie with major domestic fixtures looming. With the FA Cup quarter-finals secured and the Champions League knockout stage underway, the business end of the season has arrived — and every game now carries real weight.

Post‑Mansfield (A) FA Cup 5th Round / Pre‑Leverkusen (A) UCL R16 1st LegArsenal are into the FA Cup quarterfinals after a gritty, muddy, tough 2–1 win away at Mansfield. In this episode, Tabs and Andy break down a classic lower‑league cup tie full of cliches, heavy tackles, bobbling passes, and two absolute thunder‑bastards from Madueke and Eze that ultimately dragged Arsenal through. The lads dive into the heavily rotated XI — including the historic double‑start for 16‑year‑olds Max Dowman and Marli Salmon, the first time a Premier League club has ever started two 16‑year‑olds in a competitive match . They unpack the confusing, shape‑shifting formation, the early Mansfield pressure, and why the pitch turned the match into a tactical fever dream. There's huge praise for Dowman's outrageous composure and spatial awareness (“the word that comes to mind is inevitable” ), and equal love for Salmon's fearless performance at centre‑back. They also discuss Mosquera's hesitation for the Mansfield goal, Martinelli's frustrating afternoon, Jesus' anonymity, and the growing concern around Calafiori's recurring niggles.Tabs and Andy also look ahead to the Champions League Round of 16 first leg away at Bayer Leverkusen — the atmosphere, the tactical matchup, the likely XI, and why getting the job done early could save Arsenal from a stressful second leg. Tabs even previews his away‑day trip to Germany, complete with Frankfurt and Cologne detour. As always, the episode wraps with your Three‑Word Reviews, FA Cup draw chat, and a look at the wider European fixtures that could shape Arsenal's season.Key Talking Points:The Mansfield pitch: “free‑flowing slurry” and pure magic of the FA Cup Historic moment: two 16‑year‑olds starting for ArsenalMax Dowman's outrageous talent and why he feels inevitableMarli Salmon's maturity and last‑man interventionsMadueke: worldie one minute, Row Z the nextJesus' struggles, Martinelli's frustration, and squad rotation realitiesCalafiori injury worries and Arteta's cautious approachMansfield's intensity, physicality, and surprisingly strong performanceArsenal's 100th goal of the season and insane win/loss recordChampions League preview: Leverkusen's shape, threats, and vulnerabilitiesFixture congestion, title‑race psychology, and the importance of managing the run‑inFollow, rate, and subscribe on your favourite podcast app.Find us on socials: @thegroveafcThis is The Grove, and everyone is welcome. Episode 176 – Legion Of Goon: Arsenal's Defensive Wall Shuts Down Brighton as City Drop Points in the Title RaceArsenal head to the south coast and leave with three crucial points after a controlled 1–0 win away at Brighton. With Martin Ødegaard unavailable and William Saliba a late withdrawal, Mikel Arteta's side are forced into changes — but the response is a composed, resilient performance built on defensive authority and intelligent game management. The hosts break down Bukayo Saka's early opener, Brighton's rare attacking moments, and how Arsenal's back line — led by David Raya, Gabriel and Piero Hincapié — quietly took control of the match. The conversation turns to Arteta's substitutions, the tactical adjustments that shut the game down, and why Arsenal were able to limit Brighton to almost nothing after the hour mark. There's also plenty of reaction to Fabian Hürzeler's pre- and post-match comments about Arsenal's game management, as the hosts debate the growing narratives around Arsenal's style of play and the constant scrutiny surrounding the team's set-piece threat. The title race also takes a dramatic twist as Manchester City drop points against Nottingham Forest, sending the Arsenal dressing room into celebration and raising fresh questions about how the run-in could unfold. In Part Two, the hosts dig into the ongoing debate around Arsenal's set-piece dominance, why the conversation has become such a talking point across the league, and whether clubs should simply adapt rather than complain. The episode then looks ahead to Arsenal's FA Cup trip to Mansfield Town, discussing potential rotation, youth opportunities, and how Arteta may manage the squad with a huge run of fixtures approaching — including Leverkusen and the Carabao Cup final. There's also another round of the Prediction Game, a new edition of Justin's Six Pack, and a broader discussion about why Arsenal's cup games have felt very different to the pressure cooker of the Premier League title race.A big week, a massive defensive performance, and a title race that might just be turning Arsenal's way.Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables & Intro(00:53) - Brighton Review & Team News: Saliba Out, Ødegaard Missing & Starting XI(02:08) - 0–1 | Saka Breakthrough & Verbruggen Goalkeeper Error(04:02) - Penalty Debate: Martinelli Grab & Havertz Challenge(05:12) - Arteta's Game Management: Havertz, Trossard & Calafiori Subs(06:45) - Hincapié, Raya, Gabriel & Timber Praised in Defensive Masterclass(09:31) - Match Stats Breakdown & Brighton's Lack of Threat(10:07) - Substitution Timing & Tactical Impact(11:55) - Fabian Hürzeler Complaints & Pre-Match Mind Games(15:26) - Brighton Crowd Atmosphere & “Only One Team Playing Football” Claim(16:28) - Title Race Moment: Man City vs Forest Reactions(20:49) - Dressing Room Celebrations & Arsenal Momentum(24:03) - Bernardo Silva Complaints & City Frustration(25:25) - Run-In Discussion: Everton, Bournemouth & Etihad Context(28:10) - Defensive Structure Returning & Arteta Tactical Adjustments(30:52) - Pressing Without Ødegaard & Havertz(31:49) - Mental Test & Role of Home Fans(36:02) - PT.2: Set Piece Debate & Media Narrative(38:26) - Corner Grappling, VAR Checks & “Ben White Rule” Discussion(45:52) - Chelsea Corner Routines & Premier League Set Piece Trends(47:53) - Why Every Club Needs a Set Piece Coach(49:08) - League vs Cup Games: Which Are More Enjoyable?(50:52) - European Perspective: Arsenal Tactical Influence(53:54) - Cup Run Possibilities & Fixture Congestion(57:48) - Prediction Game: West Ham vs Brentford(01:00:20) - Spotlight Game: Wrexham vs Chelsea(01:03:21) - Justin's Six Pack: Top Things To Do In Mansfield(01:06:20) - Mansfield Preview & Expected Arsenal Rotation(01:09:14) - Midfield Selection Issues & Youth Opportunities(01:13:31) - Martinelli vs Trossard Debate Continues(01:17:31) - Final Thoughts on Squad Rotation & Competition Priorities

Griffin Warner talk betting for Tuesday. Griffin Warner returned to break down a packed Tuesday card featuring Champions League second leg matchups and a deep slate of college basketball, while also unveiling a significant promotional offer. The European focus begins with Atletico Madrid hosting Club Bruges after a dramatic 3 3 draw in Belgium. Atletico, now one and a quarter goal favorites at home, surrendered both a 2 0 and 3 2 lead in the first leg. Bruges, who covered plus one and a half previously, showed resilience with several quality attacking moments and a late equalizer. With aggregate scoring determining advancement and extra time looming if tied, Warner prefers holding Bruges plus one and a quarter, anticipating a potentially conservative Atletico approach if they secure a lead. The to advance price heavily favors Atletico, yet Warner does not dismiss Bruges entirely. Inter Milan face a steeper challenge, trailing 3 1 on aggregate to Norwegian side Butuglimpt. Inter are two goal favorites in Milan and minus 1.30 to advance despite the deficit. Road goals no longer matter, increasing the likelihood of extra time if Inter win by two. Warner expects Butuglimpt to defend but remain opportunistic on counters, suggesting plus two and the under three and three quarters could offer value in a controlled match where Inter must press but may struggle to run away. Bayer Leverkusen return home with a 2 0 advantage over Olympiakos after scoring twice in quick succession in Athens. Leverkusen are three quarter goal favorites, yet Warner sees intrigue in Olympiakos if forced to attack. The total sits at three shaded under, but given both sides' scoring tendencies he leans toward over three at plus money, even though Leverkusen are overwhelming favorites to advance. Newcastle's tie appears effectively decided after a dominant first leg against an Azerbaijani opponent, with the English side laying two and a half goals. Warner notes lineup dependent volatility and suggests monitoring numbers shortly before kickoff. Shifting to college basketball, Washington laying five at Rutgers raises red flags due to travel and Rutgers' home setting. Dayton catching five at home against St. Louis stands out given the Flyers' environment despite SLU's strong resume. Notre Dame plus seventeen against top ranked Duke is described as a hold your nose spot, while Georgetown as a short home favorite versus Marquette fits Warner's preferred range for laying points. He questions Virginia's rating against NC State, highlights Cincinnati plus six at Texas Tech after a key injury to JT Toppin, and evaluates West Virginia at Oklahoma State in a Big 12 bubble battle. Oklahoma plus two at home against Auburn becomes the featured play, with Warner expressing skepticism toward short road favorites in critical bubble scenarios. Additional notes include intrigue with Florida State as a home underdog to Miami, Arizona State catching points at TCU, and Nevada at pickem hosting New Mexico. The promotional code West25 offers 25 percent off any purchase at Pregame.com through March 2, including season long access packages, marking the largest discount he has provided on the platform. The official best bet closes the show with Oklahoma plus two on the home floor in Norman against Auburn. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
