Welcome back to the What You Do Matters Podcast! This week’s episode is a special one because I got to sit down (over Zoom of course) with the founder of an amazing small business here in Cleveland, Ohio. Jessica Smith is the founder of a boutique called Milo & Me, which is an incredible shop that caters to women and their dogs. She found herself spending a lot of time in Marshall’s shopping for women’s apparel but she never left the store without picking up a treat for her long time pup, Milo. This sparked an idea in her. Why not have a shop dedicated to women’s apparel AND high-quality products for your four-legged friend? So that’s what she created. Tune into today’s episode to learn more about Jessica and the journey she took to end up at Milo & Me. In our conversation we talk about: Her background in fashion Her commitment to believing 100% in the products she sells How the idea came about to open her shop Staying true to what’s right for her How she has pivoted in this time of the COVID-19 crisis The vision she has for her business moving forward ...and so much more! Happy Monday, friends! This week on the podcast we are talking about the winter blues and how to break free from them. Before we get too far, I definitely want to give a DISCLAIMER. I am not a therapist or a doctor. If you have been experiencing mental health issues I would recommend going to see a therapist, doctor or other licensed professional. The purpose of this episode is too bring awareness to what a lot of us are going through right now, and to talk to you about what has been helping me as I move through the winter blues. To talk through this I decided to play two truths and a lie. There are two very important truths that have helped me and a REALLY BIG FAT LIE that has not. Nonetheless, the lie is important to acknowledge. So if you have been in a fun lately and are looking for ways to move through it, this episode is for you. Let’s dive in! Welcome to another week of the What You Do Matters Podcast! This week I'm getting you into that holiday spirit. We've had our first snow here in Cleveland now, so I feel like we are just ready to be full on holiday mode. And in this week's episode I'm going to tell you what has worked for me on how to plan for the holidays and see everybody that I want to spend time with, without allowing myself to fall into overwhelm or stress. I am going to help you plot a plan to see everyone you want to see and nurture the relationships that need to be nurtured, so that you don't get to the other end of the holiday season feeling disappointed and burnt out. This time of year can be a time where we see friends that we haven't seen in a while and spend that extra time with family but sometimes it ends up becoming a stressful time of year instead of what it should be; relaxing and joy filled. We're not quite there yet with the holidays, but we are right on the cusp of it, so you still have time to map out your plan and really get ahead of this so that you can experience all the wonderful things that this season brings. Let's dive in! Want to follow along on social? Find me on Instagram @brittanyrneish. If you enjoyed this episode and think you know someone that will resonate with it, please share it with them. In episode seven we are talking about work life balance. Many of us are probably thinking, "Okay, Brittany but that's not a real thing." I get it. I used to believe that too but over the last few months I have started to experience more of this elusive work life balance thing that everyone talks about. Now I am not claiming to be an expert or that I have it all figured out. No, of course not. But there are some things that I have done over the last few months that have made a huge difference. In this episode I am sharing the six things that I think will help you experience more work life balance. I encourage you to listen with an open mind and give some of these practices a try. If you'd like to follow along you can find me on Instagram @brittanyrneish. If this episode brought value to your life I'd love to know! On Episode 6 of What You Do Matters I am chatting with two of my best friends, Jacob Morgan Dunton and Jackie Krumel, who is now Mrs. Jackie Dunton! They came home for their wedding and I was lucky enough to host them at my house for one of the evenings during the weekend so of course I had to get them on the podcast. I met Jacob back when I worked at Microsoft and then met Jackie through him. In our conversation we talk about finding authentic friendships in your work environment. We touch on what it is like to find those friendships in the corporate world vs. the education world, what it means to show up for your friends at work, the barriers you break through as you find those friendships and so much more.
