Welcome to the very first episode of When Voice Meets Spirit! Marisa Lupo and Jeanette Lucero were inspired to create this podcast out of their deep desire to help women heal and reconnect to the spirit using their voice as their vessel.
The title is a little provoking and intriguing at the same time. You might be asking how in the world can you put these two in the same sentence? Trust us, we have a point to this conversation, and we would love to get your take on it. Are you ready to have conversations that matter? This episode will dive into the collective consciousness, fear-mongering, The Social Dilemma, Britney Spears, shadow work, and much more. As the planet evolves, so is When Voice Meets Spirit, right into conversations that push us into another dimension, and we couldn't be more excited to have you on this journey with us. How many times have you been in a situation where someone says something or does something to you that cuts like a knife, and you didn't say anything because you didn't want to "cause a scene?" How about witnessing someone you love shrink from something someone said or did that hurt them and not say or doing anything about it? We've all been in situations where injustice occurs, and we freeze, and all of a sudden, it hits us like a ton of bricks—REGRET! Jeanette and Marisa share one of their own experiences where both didn't speak up because they wanted to be "the good girl" and afterward were flooded with regret. This is a crucial conversation and is very fitting for precisely this moment in time. It's not always comfortable speaking up when spirit has something to say, but those are some of the most life-changing conversations you'll ever have. This episode is near and dear to our hearts because it truly embodies what When Voice Meets Spirit is all about. Our guest, Tina Seybert, was in our Spirit Guide to Success challenge that ended in July. We asked her to be on the show because her transformation in just 30-days was so powerful we just had to share. Tina describes her childhood as something that was "taken" from her. She felt as if she was a prisoner in her home. She experienced sexual abuse as a form of punishment and felt like she was left to raise herself. Something happened when she was 13 years old where she realized she started living her life in a place of survival. As an adult, she knew she needed to get help. She had worked with several therapists for many years. One of her therapists tried to get her to see how she was sitting in a place of victimhood, and as you can imagine, that conversation didn't go over so well. Tina explains how therapy did not get her to where she wanted to go. She knew there was more lingering beneath the surface, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. It was not until we introduced inner child work in the challenge that she realized that was the critical element that was holding her back from setting herself free. If this sounds familiar to you, you aren't alone. Many of us believed that everyone knew better than we did and that everyone else was more intelligent because we bought into these limiting beliefs. As a result, we never learned how to listen and honor our voice within. In this episode, we talk about how to listen and trust your intuition. Trust is something many of us broke a long time ago, and it's something we want to invite you back home to. Marisa and Jeanette talk about the common limiting belief that "you are a bitch if you speak up." Does speaking your truth make you feel ugly? Because of this, did you silence your voice and shrink yourself? We also dive into reconnecting to the body again to know when you are not living in alignment with your highest self. This conversation is near and dear to our hearts, and we would love to hear your feedback from this episode. We all have high conflict people in our lives that love to blame others, that are rigid in their thinking, and that just can't seem to see things from another's perspective. These kinds of personalities can feel exhausting and it's not something that can't be avoided. In this episode, we shed some light on how to handle high conflict people and situations. We also talk about… the difference between reacting vs responding, the body and all the ways it is trying to signal to you that it isn't feeling safe in a high conflict situation, and what you can do when you are in a place of reactivity. In this episode, Marisa had the pleasure of interviewing a special guest, Susan the Sabotager, AKA Jeanette's inner critic. We all have an inner critic inside us, sometimes many voices that know precisely how to take us out at the knees. In this episode, you'll get an up-close and intimate conversation on what the inner critic sounds like and how it may be showing up in your daily life. What Jeanette has done is brilliant! She has learned how to befriend this character by giving it a name, identity, voice, and an opportunity to show others how this may be playing out in your own life. Befriending your inner critic is an excellent tool in getting to know yourself at a deeper level, as well as learning how to take your power back. If you want to know more about Susan the Sabotager, be sure to check out Jeanette's Instagram and Facebook. You just might fall in love with Susan. The inner critic, something we are all challenged by. It does not go away, it does not disappear so why not use it to our benefit. In today's episode, we shed some light on the subject of the critical mind and how we can stop the judgment and shame we have been told to carry around the "voice". Start noticing the tone, patterns, and behaviors this voice carries. Listen and be with yourself in stillness so that you can really separate "the voice" or inner critic from the true essence of who you are. How is it that we live at a time and place where connecting to people is so easily accessible, yet we feel so utterly alone? As a society, we are becoming good at being alone "together." Humans are hardwired for connection. We are meant to be in community with one another, to have a sense of belonging. So how can you create this for yourself? How can you cultivate a tribe without putting so much pressure on one person being your everything? In this episode, we talk about the difference between being alone and being lonely. We also dive into the what and how to build a community for yourself. Jeanette and Marisa also share actionable tools that worked for them to invite new friendships into their lives. Khaki Martin is a Los Angeles-based harmonic healer who specializes in natural voice activation, sacred sound, breathwork, and energy healing. Growing up, Khaki's first love was singing and music. But then while in college, she completely stopped. She bought into the limiting belief that she would never make it as a singer, so she cast it aside and focused her attention on climbing the corporate ladder, doing what was expected of blending, blending in instead of standing out. When she stopped singing, she lost her confidence. She was afraid to speak her mind in meetings or in general, for fear of being criticized or wrong. She had lost sight of who she was, and what she stood for. What she lost was her authentic voice. Can you relate to losing your authentic voice, to no longer expressing your truth? This episode will inspire you to reconnect to your authentic voice and express your truth again. What Life-Changing Lessons Unlayered For Jeanette and Marisa On Day 1 With Mother Ayahuasca? In this episode, Jeanette and Marisa share their experience of day 1 with the medicine. What came from their experience forever changed both of their lives. The ladies share how their ego tried to sabotage the journey before they even got started. Marisa was battling urges of the ego and the body, and Jeanette believed the whole ceremony was a sham...that is until she went to the bathroom and was greeted by Mother Ayahuasca. Jeanette's intention going into the ceremony was to find out if her husband was the one for her after being married very young, and on day one, she got the confirmation that she was searching for. Marisa shared her major aha moment where she connected not ever feeling safe in her body due to three decades of diet culture and how that belief played out into other areas of her life. The theme of day 1 was to learn how to trust, surrender, connect to breath, and know that we are always guided by a love that is incomprehensible to the mind.
