In today's podcast, Dave tells us about a book called Rune: The Tale of a Thousand Faces. It's the first in a graphic novel series by author-illustrator Carlos Sanchez. It's a great choice for middle-school and older kids – particularly those with an interest in D&D-style games and fantasy worlds. “Chiri and best friend Dai live in an orphanage right next to the deepest, darkest forest. On a scavenging mission to find some amazing new ingredients for her many culinary experiments, Chiri plunges both her and her best friend into the secret kingdom of Puddin', a secret place plagued by the Thousand Faces Monster and inhabited by all sorts of magical people and critters. Befriending witches, bards, ogres and sorcerers, can our two protagonists make it home and more importantly, can they evade the darkness that has awoken on their arrival?” Find this book in the FVRL collection: https://fvrl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S21C1922816

From the streets of Pittsburgh to the high-stakes stages of Broadway and HBO, join us for an electrifying look into the career of Margot Bingham. Margot shares the raw story of moving to New York City with a 12-month ultimatum from her parents, only to beat the odds by becoming the only person booked from an open call of 5,000 hopefuls for Rent. We'll dive deep into her breakout role as a singer and actor on Boardwalk Empire, her experience working with the legendary Spike Lee on She's Gotta Have It, and her recent work on the upcoming series Watson. Beyond the credits, Margot gets incredibly candid about battling stage fright, navigating the "toxic" side of major talent agencies, and why she views show business as a product-driven industry that requires a "mama bear" spirit to survive. These are the unforgettable stories that landed Margot Bingham right here. Befriending fear has been the best decision I ever made. Today I'm flying solo and sharing the lesson that's underpinned my creative career. In the last few months, I've made some enormous changes. I left my studio of five years, my community, and the entire foundation my creative practice had come to depend on. A choice to bite into the bitter taste of fear, hoping for something sweeter underneath. And the result? This year has seen some of my favourite works yet. I faced materials, colours and ideas I'd be avoiding. I started dancing again. I made new friends, embraced more rest, more silence, more intuition. I've been fully present with the process and as I grew and expanded, my art career has too.The lesson I've walked away from this with is that fear is your friend. In facing your fears as an artist, they grow smaller and you grow bigger. Listen to the little voice in your head telling you not to and choose to do it anyway. If there's anything you've been afraid to face, I hope this week's episode can be the gentle nudge you needed, and the reminder that the creative life you want often lives on the other side of fear.Follow the podcast on insta here! Send us Fan MailIn this episode, I sit down with Ted Riskin — social worker, IFS expert, and pioneer of group ketamine retreats — after spending a week at his beautiful home in Asheville, North Carolina participating in one of his experiences. From his unusual path as a computer programmer living in an Ashram to becoming one of the leading voices in ketamine-assisted IFS group therapy, we explore how to work with protectors, why anger deserves more respect than our culture gives it, and how group healing unlocks something individual therapy often can't reach. She explores classical music boundaries with electronics, toy pianos, synthesizers and the magical and mysterious Magnetic Resonator Piano. As a composer, she is represented by the Contemporary Music Centre, Ireland. In addition to her performance career, Xenia is in demand as a wellbeing instructor, coach and lecturer for organisations and educational institutions around the world. Glory days with his brother Dean on the family property in Sydney’s south roaring around on home made dirt karts and fold up bikes. How a trip to see legends like Roger De Coster at Oran Park in the early 1970’s left a lasting impression. Why his Dad wasn’t keen to begin with and where he gets his trademark commitment and determination. The much loved officials (who were part of the fabric of the sport) that quietly turned a blind eye to allow him to compete in his teens. And the bike that really started the journey on his rise to Mr Motocross. Befriending and battling the late Anthony Gunter or ‘Grunt’ as they called him. Plus the marketing genius of Vincent Tesoriero at Forcefield - together they helped to change perceptions ushering in a professional era. Professor Kathy Townsend knew she wanted to be a marine biologist from the age of five, and completed her very first dive in a frozen Canadian lake. But it was the moment a five-metre manta ray draped its tail over her shoulder like an affectionate cat that she knew she had truly found her calling.Since then, Kathy has followed manta rays around the world, appeared in a documentary with Sir David Attenborough, and even been swept into a swirling manta-ray feeding vortex. She greets her favourite mantas with a wink, and some even come to her for toothbrush scratches. But these intelligent and gentle giants are under threat. In this episode, Kathy shares the magic of manta rays, the mysteries scientists are still trying to solve, and why the race to understand and protect them has never been more urgent. We just HAD to make this a bonus-length episode because Kathy has SO many incredible stories about mantas which are absolutely not-to-be-missed!Thumbnail Image: Professor Townsend collecting a DNA sample with a toothbrush. Thirty years after the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, some convicted perpetrators are returning to the communities they once devastated. Felin Gakwaya travels to eastern Rwanda to meet both survivors and perpetrators living side by side again. He hears from Daniel Gasangwa, who went to visit the men who killed members of his family after they were released from prison — and told them not to be afraid, because they had been forgiven. He also meets Steven Ngabonziza, whose own path to forgiveness came not first through church, but through war, prison discipline and the slow work of reconciliation. And he hears from Viateur Ruribikiye, a perpetrator who now speaks of confession, repentance and God's pardon. Through their stories, which include discussions of violence and loss, the programme explores forgiveness not as an abstract idea, but as something lived out in villages, churches, homes and memories that have not gone away. This episode of The Documentary, comes to you from Heart and Soul, exploring personal approaches to spirituality from around the world.

We don't need to shut the door on our past selves to grow. Nothing in us has to be erased for us to change and become something new. Growth isn't about deleting who we were. It's about understanding how every version of us has led to this moment. Even the parts we've outgrown still carry lessons, and we don't have to reject them to move forward. We can expand without abandoning ourselves. This episode is for those becoming new without erasing who they were.Your voice matters here — If there's a question on your heart or a reflection you'd like me to explore, share it here: Ask a question. Step into a deeply honest, embodied, and paradigm-shifting conversation with Luis Mojica, somatic practitioner, trauma-informed nutritionist, and founder of Holistic Life Navigation, on this episode of Intimate Conversations: Dark Night to Divine Light. Luis brings a rare integration of nervous system work, food health, and trauma healing, inviting us to understand the body not as a problem to fix, but as a language to listen to. Luis shares his personal journey of growing up in an intersex body, navigating confusion, bullying, shame, and deep isolation. Without an empathic witness, he internalized his pain, leading to anxiety, panic, insomnia, and PTSD symptoms that he coped with through food. We explore how his path into healing began with picking up a guitar, learning to be 'held' through the guitar against his torso, allowing sounds, then singing to begin healing his trauma. Then through nutrition, witnessing firsthand how food could radically shift mental health, over time, his work evolved beyond "what to eat" into a much deeper question: Why does the body reach for certain foods in the first place? How are those patterns rooted in nervous system regulation, not lack of discipline? Luis introduces a powerful reframe of trauma and stress through the lens of resonance with the body. Stress can resolve, but trauma keeps the system braced, locked in chronic fight-or-flight. He explains how certain foods can either stimulate, depress, or balance the nervous system, sometimes triggering the same physiological responses as emotional shock or danger. We also talk about: -Trauma as the absence of an empathic witness -The connection between food habits and nervous system states -Chronic adrenaline and living in a braced body -Why coping mechanisms are intelligent, not wrong -Food as a regulator of anxiety, panic, and overwhelm -Moving beyond "healthy vs unhealthy" into body awareness -Somatic experiencing and self-inquiry as healing tools -Shame, secrecy, and the body's protective adaptations -Relearning safety and compassion from the inside out -Creating a relationship with the body rooted in curiosity and kindness In real time, Luis' capacity as a trauma facilitator was revealed as I had an insight into my desire for a glass of wine at the end of the day. He was elegant in holding space for my tears, guiding my somatic awareness, being with my emotions that transmuted into insights, awareness and integration right before our eyes… How amazing to meet a facilitator who can provide for me what I provide for my clients- no one can see our own blindspots. How nourishing to experience a brother whose soul lives for supporting others in integrating trauma in real time. This episode is an invitation to soften your judgment and deepen your listening. It reminds us that the body is not working against us, it is working for us, always seeking safety, regulation, and connection. Healing begins when we stop forcing change and start understanding the intelligence beneath our patterns. "Leave everything undefined, including yourself. Befriend uncertainty. Fall in love with mystery. Kneel at the altar of Not Knowing. Give your questions time to breathe. And the answers will find you." Jeff Foster Befriending Uncertainty: Learning to Live in the "Not Yet" Living Compass Spirituality and Wellness Podcast About This Episode This episode is a follow-up to last week's reflection on the Quaker wisdom phrase "Way Will Open." If we're going to trust that way will open, what do we do in the meantime? How do we learn not just to live with uncertainty, but to actually befriend it? Scott explores this question through the lens of both Christian and Buddhist wisdom, and through the surprising insight that befriending uncertainty works much the same way as being a good, patient friend. In This Episode The Jeff Foster quote that anchors this reflection: "Leave everything undefined, including yourself. Befriend uncertainty. Fall in love with mystery. Kneel at the altar of not knowing. Give your questions time to breathe. And the answers will find you." The Christian tradition of actively waiting on the Spirit — not passive, but attentive and expectant How the way we hold space for an anxious friend is the same posture we need with our own uncertainty The Buddhist practice of beginner's mind — approaching even familiar situations as if for the first time Scott's experience as a therapist: "I've never heard this story before" The compass as a tool for reorientation — not a guarantee, but a way back to true north A Practice to Carry With You This week, try approaching one conversation, one relationship, or one unresolved situation with beginner's mind. Set aside what you think you already know, and simply listen — to the other person, or to your own heart — as if you're hearing it for the first time. We don't so much find the answers as we make space for the answers to find us. Resources

Judson considers moving in with Brian. Brian and his family make a return visit to Cats: The Jellicle Ball now that it's on Broadway. Judson sets out on an adventure to find his misdelivered phone. Brian and his husband participate in their neighborhood's annual progressive dinner. The Hookup of the Week comes from a repeat submitter who takes some lessons from the podcast into his latest encounter. The two are then joined by Rod Thomas, aka electro-pop music artist and DJ Bright Light Bright Light! Rod sits down with Brian and Judson just two days before kicking off his co-headling Cosmic Light tour with “Queen of the Universe” winner and “Drag Race Brasil” host, Grag Queen, and talks about his mission with this and every one of his tours to bring joy and build community during these dark and divisive times. He teaches Brian and Judson all about his home country of Wales and its connection to music, he goes deep into his friendships and collaborations with Elton John and Scissor Sisters, and talks about how he has made a name and career for himself without ever signing with a label. They discuss the prevalence of misogyny in the gay community, they share thoughts on maintaining youth and taking risks throughout one's life, and they debate the importance of sex as a subject of artistic expression. Rod then helps Brian and Judson respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a 50 year-old listener in a 25-year open relationship who has never used the gay hookup apps and wants advice about how to start. Why are men so lonely? For me, it wasn't the lack of friends or people around me. It was more about spending years performing and ultimately, not liking myself. In this video, I gently break down the real reasons men feel lonely, disconnected, and like they don't truly belong even when they're surrounded by people. If you've ever felt out of place in your own life, struggled with anxiety and feeling a sense of not belonging, I know it feels hard, I get it. As we go through our lives, all the stressors, anxieties, bumps in the road, past traumas all add up and begin to sort of paint us into a corner and sometimes it feels like avoiding them will make them easier to deal with. Out of sight, out of mind...but over time we begin to see that there is no avoiding truth because what tends to happen is instead of avoiding that thing we are pretending doesn't exist, we end of fixating on it. Instead of avoiding the thing, it begins to run our lives in so many unproductive ways. This meditation aims to help gain perspective on this and reminds us that recognizing and acknowledging, much like acknowledging thoughts while in meditation, makes moving on with our lives so much easier.
What if thinking about death earlier didn't make you fearful—but made you freer? In Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, hosted by Sayan, executive coach Seth Clark explores how mortality awareness can bring more clarity, courage, and alignment into everyday decisions. This episode is for leaders, builders, and anyone feeling stuck in busy, reactive living. Seth unpacks why avoidance gives death more power, how modern culture keeps us distracted, and how “mini-deaths” like role changes can reshape priorities—so you lead with a longer-term view, not just the next quarter. About the Guest: Seth Clark is an executive coach, ordained Christian minister, and doctoral scholar studying meaning-making in the face of mortality. His work helps people use mortality awareness to live and lead with deeper purpose. Episode Chapter: 00:04:56 – Setting the topic: mortality awareness and purpose 00:07:33 – Why “befriending death” can bring more life 00:09:29 – The first time Seth witnessed someone die 00:10:34 – Avoidance gives death authority over us 00:12:41 – The “relationship” analogy: facing what's real 00:15:08 – Doomscrolling, validation, and staying numb 00:17:23 – Leadership timelines, mini-deaths, and long-term thinking Key Takeaways: Notice what you avoid—avoidance quietly runs your choices from the background. Treat death-awareness as a clarity tool, not something to obsess over. Interrupt doomscrolling when it fuels emotion but doesn't move you toward action. Ask: “What matters beyond this quarter/year?” to reset leadership priorities. Prepare for “mini-deaths” (role changes, endings) with intentional transitions. In grief, don't force mortality awareness—first allow the loss to be held with compassion. Well, it's the last of our trilogy's of episodes discussing David's recent work trips to London. And it's turned out to be a right roller coster of emotions as this morning he's feeling very upbeat about the city and making the most of being there. So much so that yesterday afternoon he took the opportunity to visit his agent, killed time by looking into lots of restaurant windows and almost treated himself to a cocktail in his hotel bar. Then to end the day, he really enjoyed watching the Take That Circus tour in his room - and is now wondering if he and Joe might be able to become their fiends? 4. Table Of Befriending Mercy
In this Jewish Inspiration Podcast episode (Day 130), Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe continues the Gate of Flattery (Chanufa) from Orchos Tzaddikim, detailing the profound dangers of associating with or validating the wicked (resha'im), even without direct praise.Key teachings:Befriending the wicked is flattery — Associating with evildoers implies acceptance (“I'm okay with you as you are”) and gives them validation. It's itself an act of chanufa.Five major dangers of such association: You love someone who hates the Creator—contradicting loyalty to Hashem. You absorb their negative ways (inevitable influence).Others see your friendship and think “if he's friends with him, it's okay for me too”—spreading the rot.Even if they don't imitate, they become accustomed to seeing forbidden things. You fail to protest/reprimand when able—making you accountable for their sins (mitzvas tochacha).Reprimand only when accepted — If they won't listen, don't speak (avoids lashon hara and escalation). Instead, pray for their improvement.Personal story — A woman was deeply hurt by another's nasty comment in class. Rabbi advised praying for the offender's insight rather than confrontation. A week later, she returned transformed—now loving the person and praying for their growth, turning pain into an opportunity for elevation.Becoming “big” (gadol) — True greatness means expanding beyond self: responsibility for spouse, children, community, Klal Yisrael. Start small (self-improvement), then influence outward. Rabbi Saul Salanter's journey: couldn't change the world → country → town → neighborhood → family → only self.Practical application — Don't compare or compete; maximize your unique gifts. Patience and kindness (e.g., not honking in traffic) reflect self-respect and prevent spiritual “bankruptcy.” Small acts of restraint build character and influence others positively. The rabbi urges: begin at home, expand responsibility outward, and live with self-awareness—true greatness is selflessness and influence through example, not ego._____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Peter & Becky BotvinRecorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on January 5, 2026, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on February 20, 2026_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! That Wellness Podcast with Natalie Deering: Internal Family Systems with a Twist
In this powerful and deeply validating conversation, I sit down with Jessica Tomich Sorci, LMFT, Level 3 Certified IFS Therapist and creator of the Mom Parts Method, to talk about something so many mothers silently carry: Mom parts. The anxious ones. The angry ones. The overwhelmed ones. The “I should be better at this” ones. And the truth that often feels radical: There are no bad mom parts. Jessica brings her expertise in Internal Family Systems and perinatal mental health to help us understand how motherhood activates powerful manager and firefighter parts—and how IFS offers a compassionate path forward. We Discuss: What “mom parts” are and why they make so much sense Common manager mom parts Common firefighter mom parts Why guilt and shame keep moms blended with their parts How IFS helps mothers unblend and move toward compassion instead of self-criticism The cultural burdens of motherhood and the impossible expectations placed on women How vulnerable parts can re-emerge as our children reach different developmental stages The concerning decline in maternal mental health—and why this isn't about individual failure The “selfish vs. selfless” burden so many mothers carry internally Jessica's Mom Part Cards for self-reflection and how to use them in daily life Her groundbreaking new book, When Good Moms Feel Bad About Jessica Tomich Sorci: Jessica Tomich Sorci, LMFT, is a Level 3 Certified IFS Therapist, IFSI Approved Clinical Consultant, Certified Perinatal Mental Health therapist, and creator of the Mom Parts Method. This meditation establishes a gentle and caring presence through bringing the image and felt sense of a smile to various domains in the body. We then settle with the breath, and practice relaxing with whatever arises, letting life be just as it is. The underlying intention is to regard all experience with a clear, interested and friendly attention. The gift is a homecoming to our naturally loving presence. So many of us have tried to “fix” our inner dialogue by replacing thoughts or forcing ourselves to be more positive. But when the inner voice is critical or relentless, it's usually because something inside is hurting or under strain. The words are just the part we hear … but the tone and feeling state come from much deeper places within. In this episode of Somatic Healing Meditations, I guide you through a gentle somatic meditation that helps you turn toward the feelings underneath your inner dialogue. You'll be invited to bring compassionate awareness to the sensations and emotions in your body, and to begin meeting the parts within that need support and understanding. When these deeper feelings are seen and cared for, the inner world often begins to soften on its own. Your inner voice changes when your inner world is cared for. TheRightOne.net presents this truly significant story from author Jen Braaksma about Betsy Pauly. Befriending Betsy was known in her Missouri community as the woman who never turned away a creature in need. She rescued more than 100 cats, at least 10 dogs, a blind pigeon, and countless strays who would not have survived without human care. Hear the story of adopting an older dog and Betsy's spur of the moment decision to make a leash out of her panty hose. We've got perfectionism all wrong. The real problem isn't high standards—it's the illusion of perfectibility and harsh judgment that have been grafted onto it. Perfectionism began as a guide toward purpose, but centuries of distortion turned it into an enforcer of impossible ideals. Instead of banishing perfectionism, we can reclaim its adaptive side—commitment, persistence, and pursuit of excellence—while stripping away conceit and control. By befriending perfectionism, acknowledging its shadow, and clarifying our purpose, we transform it from a tyrant into a trusted partner. This episode brings together science and Jungian psychology for an unconventional approach to dealing with perfectionism.

This week I talk with IFS therapist and teacher, Kendhal Hart, about the real-world practice of IFS, how she integrates it with EMDR, and her view of IFS as a neurodivergent clinician. Kendhal is the author of Treating Trauma with EMDR and IFS, a new book that offers clinicians a practical and compassionate guide to integrating the two models. She shares openly about her recent autism diagnosis and how her neurodifferences shapes the way she understands, lives, and teaches Internal Family Systems. We explore what it looks like to practice IFS in real time, outside of demos, outside of formal training, and inside the small everyday moments where our parts and Self show up. We discuss: Practical IFS steps tailored for neurodivergent minds What's missing in many IFS trainings How EMDR complements the IFS healing steps Befriending parts before moving to Phase 4 of EMDR How to track our internal systems throughout the day How to reflect parts and Self back to clients in simple terms IFS as a lifestyle I didn't want this conversation to end. **SPECIAL ENCORE PRESENTATION** Current statistics tell us that 20% of the US population has some form of chronic pain, defined as severe discomfort that has continued for six months or more. That's more than 50 million people. Jon Kabat-Zinn has received international acclaim for his leading work in bringing the life-changing practices of meditation and mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society. In this inspiring podcast, Tami Simon speaks with Jon about his empowering new book, Mindfulness Meditation for Pain Relief, and how we can greatly improve our lives (and our entire world) by reframing the way we relate to our thoughts, our minds, and the sensations of our bodies. Listen in as they discuss the epidemic of chronic pain and the power of mindfulness to ease suffering of all kinds, the myth of the “good meditator,” the body as the starting point for practice, exploring your “emotionally freighted thoughts,” our longing to be who we really are, working with the mind and learning to inhabit a space of embodied awareness, the refuge that is meditation practice, letting go of our stories, befriending the sensory field of what we call pain, the miracle of life on Earth, the Buddha's teaching on mindfulness as the direct path to liberation, surfing the waves of your own experience, unity within diversity and the arising of compassion, focusing on what's right instead of what's wrong, how we are all on a growth curve on life's journey, and more. How do we reconcile our expectations with God's unfolding plan? In this episode, Professor Derek Sainsbury explores the remarkable life of Nancy Naomi Tracy–a woman whose unwavering faith and bold defense of religious liberty and temple service helped shape the early Latter-day Saint experience. Through persecution, political exile, and personal loss, Nancy remained devoted to the gospel. Professor Sainsbury draws from her writings and activism to reveal how she navigated the tension between personal hopes and divine direction, offering a compelling lens into the cost of conviction and the legacy of spiritual resilience. So you've de-escalated your negative cycle and are taking risks to take new moves and bam you get hit with this response: "it's nice to hear you say that, but where has that been for the last 20 years?" Defeat sets in and your protective move is at the ready to defend or withdraw. Why does this happen so often when couples are working together to make healthy changes? Join George and Laurie in today's episode as we discuss how mistrust in healthier relationship patterns is expected and what to do about it. When the brain is so used to something happening one way for an amount of time, it expects and anticipates it. It's all a way to create patterns and predictability which the brain loves. What the brain loves is not always healthy for a relationship. In this episode, we learn how to identify and work with mistrust, create safety around new moves and embrace when we are getting exactly what we've longed for for years. This requires us to tolerate the new move without solely relying on the old pattern, embracing the mistrust and getting success with the new. Has this ever happened in your relationship? By integrating our shadow and aligning with source consciousness, we reclaim wholeness. In this episode, spiritual healer Igor Galibov shares his transformation through spiritual surgery in Brazil at age 24. During an out-of-body experience, he witnessed the procedure from behind the healer while simultaneously being operated on. Within six months, all physical ailments - polyps, allergies, rashes completely disappeared, and his consciousness expanded to see energy, travel dimensions, and perceive future events. Disease originates in five energy bodies before manifesting physically. The key to healing? Befriending our darkness, the ignored aspects of ourselves needing awareness. When we invite these traits in with love and curiosity, darkness transforms into light. Igor explores Jesus and Mary Magdalene as twin souls whose sacred union created dimensional portals through unified masculine-feminine consciousness. The path to wholeness: heal fragmented aspects, unite inner energies, and remember we are the universe experiencing itself.
