Why 40% of CMOs Are Cutting Agency Budgets in 2025 (And How to Stay Off the List)

Would you like access to our advanced agency training for FREE? https://www.agencymastery360.com/training Let's get real for a second. 40% of CMOs are cutting agency budgets this year. (Not hype. That's from Gartner's 2025 CMO spend survey.) If you're still out there selling tasks instead of outcomes, blending in like every other “me too” agency, you're not just at risk—you're probably already on the cut list. But here's the good news: Some agencies aren't just surviving right now. They're growing like crazy. Why? Because they're leading. They're essential. They're uncuttable. Vendors Get Cut. Partners Stay. Here's what most agencies are still doing: Taking orders. Waiting for direction. Hoping results keep the client around. But when CMOs tighten budgets, they don't cut true strategic partners—they cut vendors and noise. In-house teams and AI are replacing basic production. If your agency doesn't feel essential, you will get replaced. Period. You know what else CMOs are cutting? Agencies that over-promise, under-deliver, and ghost clients after the deal closes. I've hired a few agencies over the past couple of years, and I can say most agencies have the slick branding and a confident talk, but once the deal is closed execution just falls apart. I've seen this more times than I can count. Communication fades away and no one takes ownership This is what CMOs are frustrated with. They're not just making cuts to save money. They're doing it after getting tired of disappointments. Joey Coleman says it best: “Most clients don't leave because of price; they leave because they don't feel seen, heard, or supported in the first 100 days.” Remember that while agency teams get excited and start high-fiving each other once the deal closes, the client is sitting there thinking, “Did I just waste my budget?” That gap between your excitement and their anxiety is where trust is either built or destroyed. And it's true. Our mastermind member Marty took that to heart, redesigned his client experience, and grew to a multi-million-dollar agency because he didn't wait for tasks—he led, flew out to meet clients, set clear expectations, and became indispensable. Make Yourself Uncuttable You want to stay off the cut list? Lead. Own the relationship. Here's how: 1. Find Quick Wins Fast Don't wait six months to show value. Launch something in the first 30 days. Fix something they didn't even ask for. Send a Loom video explaining how you improved their funnel. Let them say, “These people move fast.” 2. Overcommunicate When Things Aren't Working Most agencies go quiet when results dip. Leaders say, “Here's what's happening, here's what we're changing, here's what to expect.” Transparency builds trust. 3. Be a Resource, Not a Responder Stop waiting for tasks. Show up with new hooks, funnel fixes, better angles. Be the call they make when anything breaks in their business, not just when they need a landing page. 4. Take Ownership, Not Orders Stop asking, “What do you want us to do next?” Start saying, “Here's what we're doing, and here's why.” That's how you shift from vendor to partner. 5. Productize and Simplify If it takes you 30 minutes to explain what you do, you're in trouble. Make your offer outcome-driven, simple, and memorable. Like the PR agency that said, “We turn publicity into pipeline.” That sticks. Real Results from Agencies Leading This Way Just look at Brittany, who stopped winging it, joined the mastermind, and committed to leading: Revenue up 35% in a quarter Profit up 41% Churn dropped 32% SEO and social revenue doubled And she didn't get there with a fancy hack. She got there by leading and building trust. This Isn't Just About Staying Off a Cut List It's about building an agency that deserves to grow—one that earns trust, delivers outcomes, and leads. Want a place to start? Pick one of these actions today: Tighten your onboarding. Call a client you haven't talked to in a while. Launch the damn thing you've been sitting on. Because the agencies that win aren't waiting for permission or praying for renewals. They're leading, earning trust, and making themselves uncuttable.   If you're ready to attract better clients and become uncuttable, check out the Attract Masterclass. It will help you position your agency to pull in the right leads instead of just more leads.

Passport stamps matter less than the personality you bring to the journey; so does the company you invite to walk beside you. STRONG DADS!
Are You The Reason Your Wife Nags? Ep 258

STRONG DADS!

Play Episode Listen Later May 23, 2025 47:08

Background - Ah, the age-old issue of nagging! It's a common portrayal in media and often the subject of jokes, but beneath the surface lies a dynamic in a marriage that can cause real frustration. From a biblical perspective, the ideal for a husband and wife is one of mutual respect, love, and effective communication. When nagging becomes a pattern, it often signals a breakdown in this ideal. Let's explore how a husband might unintentionally contribute to his wife's nagging and how he can take positive steps toward a more harmonious relationship, grounded in biblical principles.Scripture calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). This is a love characterized by sacrifice, patience, and a desire for the other's well-being. Similarly, wives are called to respect their husbands (Ephesians 5:33). When these foundational principles are not consistently practiced, misunderstandings and frustrations can arise, sometimes manifesting as what we call "nagging."It's easy to see nagging as solely the wife's behavior, but often, a husband's actions (or inactions) can inadvertently fuel it. Here are five ways a husband might contribute:Unmet Expectations and Follow-Through: When a husband makes promises or agrees to tasks and then doesn't follow through, it can lead to his wife feeling unheard and responsible for constantly reminding him. Lack of Proactive Initiative: If a husband consistently waits to be told what needs to be done around the house or with family responsibilities, his wife might feel like the sole manager of the household. This can lead to her constantly directing and reminding, which can feel like nagging. Poor Communication and Listening Skills: When a wife feels her concerns are not being heard or acknowledged, she may resort to repeating herself or raising her voice to get her point across. Inconsistency and Selective Hearing: Sometimes, a husband might respond to his wife's requests only after she has mentioned them multiple times. This inconsistency teaches her that persistence is the only way to get his attention or action. Taking Her for Granted: When a husband doesn't acknowledge or appreciate the efforts his wife makes, she might feel unseen and unvalued. This can lead to her feeling the need to constantly remind him of her contributions or the things that need attention. Advice -Now, how can a husband, guided by biblical principles of love and respect, help to slow or even stop the nagging without being oppressive or demeaning? Here are five ways:Practice Active Listening and Empathy: When your wife brings up a concern, truly listen to understand her perspective. Acknowledge her feelings and validate her concerns, even if you don't fully agree. Take Ownership and Follow Through: When you agree to something, make it a priority to follow through in a timely manner. Initiate and Share Responsibilities: Don't wait to be asked. Look for ways to proactively contribute to the household and family responsibilities. Establish Clear Communication Systems: Have open and honest conversations about expectations and how you will communicate about them.Express Appreciation Regularly: Acknowledge and appreciate your wife's efforts, both big and small. https://rocksolidfamilies.orgSupport the show#Rocksolidfamilies,#familytherapy,#marriagecounseling,#parenting,#faithbasedcounseling,#counseling,#Strongdads,#coaching,#lifecoach,#lifecoaching,#marriagecoaching,#marriageandfamily,#control,#security,#respect,#affection,#love,#purpose,#faith,#mastersofdisaster,#storms,#disasterrelief,#tornados,#hurricanes,#floods

When you say things like "Hopefully I can stick to my plan" or "We'll see what happens," you're subtly distancing yourself from responsibility and creating an escape route. This language keeps you in a passive position, waiting for life to happen to you rather than actively creating the life you want.   I'm offering you something better than hope or trying – I'm offering you ownership. By the end of this episode, you'll understand how to recognize when you're giving away your power through your language, why taking full responsibility feels scary (but is ultimately liberating), and how to shift from "We'll see" to "I've got this." This mindset shift is the key to becoming someone who creates her life on purpose, even when things get messy or imperfect.   Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://carriehollandmd.com/146

How do you create lasting happiness in your life and career? More importantly, how do you take responsibility for it? In this episode of Reflect Forward, I explore why happiness is a worthy goal and why you must take ownership of your well-being. I reflect on my fireside chat with Jenn Lim, CEO of Delivering Happiness and author of Beyond Happiness, to discuss how true happiness is cultivated through purpose, progress, and deep connections—not just quick dopamine hits. Happiness and leadership are closely linked. Unhappy leaders create disengaged teams, while fulfilled leaders inspire innovation and growth. Workplace culture thrives when individuals take ownership of their happiness and well-being. In this episode, Jenn and I explore the mindset shifts and daily habits that help leaders and employees build sustainable happiness, resilience, and fulfillment in work and life. Key Takeaways • Happiness is a choice and a skill. It requires effort, mindset shifts, and intentional action. • Dopamine vs. sustainable happiness. Quick dopamine hits (social media, alcohol, shopping) provide momentary pleasure but do not lead to long-term well-being. True fulfillment comes from purpose, progress, and relationships. • Leadership and happiness are interconnected. When leaders take responsibility for their happiness, they set the tone for an engaged, motivated workplace culture. • Use the “LIT Framework” to define your purpose. Light (what excites you), Impact (how you contribute), and Talent (what you excel at) help align your career and life with what brings fulfillment. • Self-care is a discipline, not a luxury. Leaders and professionals must prioritize their mental, physical, and emotional well-being to show up fully. • Gratitude creates a ripple effect. Regularly expressing gratitude strengthens team culture, improves relationships, and enhances personal happiness. This episode is essential for leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals looking to improve workplace engagement, personal fulfillment, and resilience. Happiness at work leads to higher productivity, stronger collaboration, and a healthier company culture. Transforming College Advising: A New Approach to Student Success

Changing Higher Ed

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 25, 2025 42:22

Higher education institutions continue to struggle with student retention, career readiness, and underemployment among graduates. Traditional college advising models focus heavily on selecting a major, yet many students graduate with empty degrees that fail to translate into meaningful careers. In this episode of Changing Higher Ed®, Dr. Drumm McNaughton speaks with Scott Carlson and Dr. Ned Scott Laff, authors of Hacking College: Why the Major Really Doesn't Matter and What Really Does, about how institutions can rethink academic advising, faculty engagement, and student success strategies to better serve today's learners. Carlson, a senior writer for the Chronicle of Higher Education, and Laff, who has over 35 years of experience in college and university settings helping students design successful undergraduate experiences, discuss how universities can shift away from a rigid, major-centric model to a personalized student success framework. They explain how students who lack career clarity often end up in underemployment, taking jobs unrelated to their degrees. Their research shows that institutions must evolve their advising structures to help students identify vocational purpose, leverage experiential learning, and navigate the hidden job market. The Problem with Traditional Academic Advising The outdated focus on major selection leads students into rigid career paths, often misaligned with their strengths and interests. A one-size-fits-all advising model leaves first-generation and low-income students struggling to navigate the complexities of higher education. Limited faculty-student engagement prevents students from leveraging university resources and professional networks. Lack of career-aligned experiential learning results in students graduating without the necessary skills and industry connections. Revolutionizing College-to-Career Transition Carlson and Laff propose a new model where higher education leaders integrate career-focused advising and faculty mentorship into the student experience. This involves: Helping students explore hidden intellectualism—their deeper interests and skills that could shape their career trajectories. Connecting students with faculty and industry professionals to uncover career pathways beyond traditional job titles. Expanding experiential learning opportunities through internships, mentorships, and project-based learning. Teaching students to research the hidden job market to discover roles they might never encounter through a standard career fair. Institutional Strategies for Student Success For university presidents, boards, and executive leaders, improving student outcomes requires a fundamental shift in how advising and faculty engagement are structured. Institutions should: Encourage faculty to act as mentors, guiding students beyond coursework to explore real-world career applications. Train advisors to support students in creating flexible, goal-oriented academic plans that integrate experiential learning. Strengthen career services by building industry partnerships and embedding career readiness into academic programming. Utilize existing institutional resources—including government affairs, research opportunities, and alumni networks—to connect students with career pathways. The Hidden Job Market and Career Readiness Career exploration should begin early in a student's academic journey. Institutions must help students develop the ability to recognize opportunities beyond traditional job titles by: Encouraging proactive networking with faculty, professionals, and industry leaders. Teaching students to research and navigate the hidden job market, where many opportunities exist outside of standard recruitment channels. Expanding experiential learning options, such as internships and project-based coursework, to provide practical experience that aligns with evolving workforce demands. With AI-driven automation threatening traditional advising roles, institutions must act now to redefine how they support student career pathways. Colleges that fail to adapt will continue to see declining retention, underemployment, and dissatisfaction among graduates. Five Takeaways for University Presidents and Boards Be Open to Change – Institutions must actively remove barriers that prevent student success. The current advising model is failing many students, and colleges need to adopt a more flexible, student-centered approach that helps learners navigate their academic and career paths effectively. Preserve Academic Variety – Colleges are eliminating liberal arts programs due to financial pressures, but this limits students' ability to create multidisciplinary educational experiences. Institutions should strive to maintain a diverse academic landscape that allows students to explore various career pathways. Engage Directly with Students – University leaders should make an effort to understand student concerns firsthand. By informally engaging with students—whether in common areas or casual settings—presidents and board members can gain valuable insights into what students need to thrive. Empower Students to Take Ownership of Their Education – Instead of following rigid degree structures, students should be encouraged to design their own academic experiences by integrating coursework, experiential learning, and industry engagement in ways that align with their career goals. Advisors and faculty should support this by shifting from a prescriptive model to one that helps students think critically about their education. Rethink Institutional Priorities – Colleges can maintain their research and tenure agendas while also fostering a culture that encourages student success. Leaders should create systems that help students perceive higher education as an interconnected network of opportunities rather than a series of disconnected courses. Higher education institutions that fail to evolve will continue to see declining retention and job placement rates. Listen in as Dr. Drumm McNaughton, Scott Carlson, and Dr. Ned Laff explore how colleges can implement meaningful advising reforms to improve student success, institutional sustainability, and long-term career outcomes. Institutions looking for solutions to align their academic programs with evolving student needs should explore Academic Realignment and Redesign strategies. NDP was aware that a significant amount of “safe supply” drugs were being diverted for illegal distribution. And despite Quebec politicians rejecting the idea of a coast-to-coast pipeline, a new poll reveals the majority of Quebecers support it. Should I lift if I'm tired? It depends, on your tendencies, goals, experience, normal state, and more. We help you answer for yourself if you should lift today. Should I Train if I'm Tired? Experience & Tendencies You're going to feel tired sometimes. What do you do if you feel tired? Should you train? It depends. Niki recently felt tired and ended up taking a nap instead of training. She has learned, over years and decades of training, that this occurs regularly, she knows she will train the next day. Niki loves training and knows she will train the next day. You may begin to find similar patterns. Remember, though, most people seek to avoid training, so know your tendencies. Andrew shares a different experience, where for a long period of time he was sleep-deprived and always tired. He has had to learn, over time, that he would feel better after training, but he also had to reduce the expectations. If he never trained when he was tired, he would never exercise. Expecting the weight to go up every workout, however, is creates a loop of disappointment, guilt, and can lead to missed training. Should I Train if I'm Tired? Take Ownership of Your Training Regardless of your decision, you have to own your decision and your training. If you skip today, own it, know why you did it, and do not let it break your training habit. If you train, own that as well. Expecting PRs or the prescribed weight and volume may be counterproductive. Rather, aim to maintain the habit. This is about behaviors and patterns that contribute to your quality of life and long-term goals. This is not about hacks, short cuts, or other snake oil. You have to put in the work over the long haul. Should I train if I am tired? Find out! PS - If you're interested in taking online coaching with Barbell Logic for a test run, check it out here.
