There's no doubt a lot of us are feeling a bit lost or struggling at the moment. Well you're not alone. In Bounce Back, Andrew talks to prominent Australians about major challenges that have been thrown their way, and how they've overcome these difficulties on the road to success. In this episode Dr. Rochford speaks with Richmond Tigers Captain Trent Cotchin. In 2016 The Richmond Football Club was in the dumps, finishing thirteenth. It is fair to say the fans weren't happy with some wanting to overthrow the Board and the Coach and Captain in the media firing line. Whether Trent Cotchin was cut out to be a leader was a regular talking point, Trent himself had doubts. One year later Richmond FC are AFL Premiers, breaking a 37 Premiership drought. They followed up with another Grand Final victory in 2019. Their Captain was then and remains Brownlow Medalist and three-time Richmond Best & Fairest Winner Trent Cotchin. This series will feature some of Australia's most recognised sports men and women, prominent businesspeople and well-known politicians, allowing them to tell their story, in their own words. Bounce Back is about promoting well-being and good mental health, by showing that even in the most difficult of times, there are people who you can turn to for support - whether they're mates, family, colleagues, professionals even your neighbours. It's about how to look after yourself when things are tough, believing in yourself and knowing you can come through it even stronger.  Dr. Andrew Rochford is a proud ambassador for DrinkWise, which is sponsoring this podcast. We hope you enjoy Bounce Back.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We have officially decided to change 'Have A Crack' into 'Have A Cracken' after Maxy identified one of the coolest franchise names in the sporting arena. A NHL Hockey team from Seattle have been inspired by the Pirates of The Caribbean and used a mythical octopus as their mascot. Should this spell change for some of the more mundane AFL mascots? Michael has came up with a new controversial system that will make the winners of the Grand Final Rematch be the official AFL Premiers from the year before.  Sounds confusing? That's because it absolutely is! Here are some the teams that could've won the flag from the year before because they won the Grand Final Rematch: Previous years scenarios 2010: Saints beat the Cats by 24 points in Grand Final Replay (MCG) 2018: Adelaide Crows beat the Tigers by 36 points (AO) 2006: West Coast beat Sydney by 2 points (S) 2015: Sydney beat Hawthorn by 4 points (MCG) 2013: Hawthorn beat Sydney by 37 points (MCG) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1952: Essendon beat Geelong by 69 points (Brisbane Exhibition Ground) It was difficult to find this one Essendon fans but we found a flag for us! It's always wonderful to depart the weekend with a big fat W on the board, and even more so when it's a convincing victory over the reigning AFL Premiers. Following the dismantling of Richmond in Maddie's Match, the St Kilda Football Club next face Carlton at Marvel Stadium on THURSDAY NIGHT following a late fixture change due to COVID-19 related travel restrictions. Listen as the boys recap the win over the Tigers and look forward to (hopefully) beating the Blues in primetime.Due to some technical issues - as you'll notice with our audio this week - and some last minute guest rescheduling, we have two 'celebrity fan' guests this week, in former Victorian and Australian cricket wicketkeeper - and St Kilda U19 representative - Darren Berry, and the host of the first ever standalone AFL TV program internationally, Ollie Geale. Both our guests share stories of their Saints fandom, and what it's like following our club when living, travelling and working overseas. This podcast was produced in isolation via a Zoom conference call, in conjunction with our episode partner, Marbled Meats - bringing the 'classic butcher' back to the suburbs of East Bentleigh. I ventured from Melbourne to Sydney to follow my favourite sporting team, the Western Bulldogs, play a preliminary final on 24th September. While there, why not catch up with an old mate of mine, shoot the breeze and record it?So at the time of recording, the football matches hadn't happened yet. Listening to this, you hear me unaware that the Bulldogs would not only go on to win that match in Sydney, but the Grand Final the following week, becoming the AFL Premiers for the first time in 62 years. That relates to my happiness though (I'm pretty bloody happy right now) - here are a few details about my guest.Brooklyn Ross is the newsreader for The Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIIS 106.5 in Sydney. We met while he was on work experience at Power FM Bega more than 10 years ago and it's a delight to see his career grow so successfully. He also runs what's fast becoming an empire of online radio stations. What started as a hobby has become a serious business and his boldness and bravery are paying great dividends. Before it was politically fashionable, Brooklyn shared his sexuality on Sydney radio station The Edge and played a major role developing a publicity campaign for marriage equality. He's not phased at all with sharing himself, creating things, and bracing for any consequences. I hope you like his attitudes, and the songs he's added to the Ever-growing Playlist of Joy!https://play.spotify.com/user/thesongnerd/playlist/1PjMUX8R9cwbvl62O0HFpT Hit me up on any social media @TheSongNerd where I'm happy to discuss the podcast or topically this weekend, the FOOTY!!!
