Just when we were gaining some momentum, fresh off the Road Train back from Alice, we put our feet up and forgot about footy for a week...And then the AFL decided to put the Giants on at the same time the Socceroos kick off their World Cup campaign. Will our heads be elsewhere? Toby has confirmed: yes, this is likely. Will the Tsunami retreat to a gentle lapping on the fringes of the Marvel turf? There's every chance.Hypothetically, technically and realistically, we should continue to march up the ladder given the big ins this week, the form that's been building, and the fact that the Saints would be demoralised after letting that one slip against the Swannies. And three Ls in a row. Ouch.Plus, we're just a better side than the Saints. But nothing is a given in this beautiful, chaotic, unpredictable sport called Australian Rules Football. And nothing is predictable — other than the Giants making the top four and going on to win our first cup — with this enigmatic team known as the GREATER Western Sydney Giants. Is this stressful? Sure.Do we love it? You bet.Gamble responsibly. So sit back, split the Kayo screen down the middle, mute the soccer, and enjoy Finn slicing the Saints to pieces, Hoges coming back and kicking a baker's dozen, and maybe something special from Gothard once again...Never Surrender.----To get in contact, drop us an email, comment on Spotify or message us on X.We love reviews or ratings.Email: thesquinterspodcast@gmail.comSupport: buymeacoffee.com/thesquintersYouTube: NeverSurrenderByTheSquintersX: TheSquintersInstagram: gws_squintersFB: thesquintersTikTok: the.squinters

This week Heff is joined by Matty D'Sena to review Round 13 of the 2026 AFL Fantasy season from a draft and keeper league perspective.Daniel Curtin was one of the big talking points of the round after producing his best score since returning to the Adelaide side. This week, he started on the wing before spending more time behind the ball, where he was able to take marks and get involved. We discuss whether this is the start of something more relevant, and whether there's any chance he eventually works his way into an inside midfield role. Will Setterfield also put up a ton for Essendon, continuing a strong run since coming back into the side. With his role looking more inside than wing-based at the moment, we look at whether he's worth holding, or whether this is the perfect time for draft and keeper league coaches to sell high.Patrick Voss was the big score that would have hurt plenty of coaches on the weekend, finishing with 20 disposals, 10 marks and four goals. Key forwards can be hard to trust, but with Fremantle flying, we discuss whether Voss is more than just a one-week spike and how streamable he is in the right matchups. We also dig into Patrick Dangerfield's big game, Sam De Koning's ruck role, Connor O'Sullivan officially becoming 2G4P, Blake Acres putting himself back on the radar, Neil Erasmus getting more midfield time, Jack Bowes continuing to score when selected, and Hugo Hall-Kahan as another name worth watching. As always, it's about working out what's real, what's role-driven, and what's just a one-week spike. If you're playing draft and keeper leagues, this episode is packed with the insights you need to stay ahead of the curve.Become a Keeper League Podcast member:https://keeperleaguepod.com.au/keeper-league-membership/Join our Discord:https://discord.gg/APjqvT22zePlay FootyNumbers:https://footynumbers.comPlay FootyHeads:https://footyheads.com

The debate is flowing with Essendon's assistance package request, Curnow's flat track bully status, Jordan Dawson's positional flexibility and the first of the double up games putting Corbin, Ben and Lids in opposite corners. It's not all loggerheads though with Willem Duursma's ascent to rising star favourite and Jack Gunston's footy smarts and future in the game hard to argue against. As well, the Lions seem gassed, North should stop selling games and the Big Freeze game will be a super-charged and emotional day.ABC AFL commentators Corbin Middlemas and Ben Cameron are joined by a rolling squad of former AFL players and legends of the game to analyse matches, deep dive the stories dominating the footy landscape, recap game highlights and talk through the latest AFL ladder standings. Corbin Middlemas and Bob Murphy take a deep breath after the Hird x Essendon mania and apply a mix of logic and left field thinking to what the Bombers might do next. The boys have watched the Monday footy shows so you don't have to and they chat through the appeal of Longmire, the issues for other applicants plus why the Lions have to get a wriggle on, if Fremantle's young list hurts their premiership chances and why every St Kilda action has an equal and opposite reaction.ABC AFL commentators Corbin Middlemas and Ben Cameron are joined by a rolling squad of former AFL players and legends of the game to analyse matches, deep dive the stories dominating the footy landscape, recap game highlights and talk through the latest AFL ladder standings. This week Heff is joined by Jordy D'Sena to review Round 12 of the 2026 AFL Fantasy season from a draft and keeper league perspective.Billy Wilson was one of the big stories of the round after producing another strong score in what looks like a fantasy-friendly half-back role. With Carlton giving him kick-ins and enough ball use behind the play, we break down whether this is something that can stick, or whether draft and keeper league coaches need to be careful before getting too carried away.Blake Acres also returned to the Carlton side and immediately put himself back on the radar. He has been a proven 75-80 average type in the past, and with injuries opening up opportunities, we discuss whether he's worth a waiver look and what his role might look like moving forward.Pete Ladhams reminded everyone why he's always worth streaming when he gets the solo ruck role. With Brodie Grundy out, One Week Pete delivered again, and we look at just how useful he can be in the right matchup, even if the opportunity might only be short-term.We also dig into the other big scores, waiver targets and role changes from the round, with plenty of names to discuss including Patrick Voss, Rory Lobb, Jack Silvagni, Lachie Cowan, Jye Amiss, Toby Bedford, Harry Kyle, Cameron Nairn and Saad El-Hawli.Plus, we take a look at the mid-season draftees and discuss which players could have fantasy relevance in draft and keeper leagues moving forward.

Essendon have hit "ctrl alt delete" on Brad Scott's Bombers tenure and it's left Corbin & Bob Murphy surprised and sympathetic. The Monday board meeting coupled with the passing of Neale Daniher doesn't sit right, James Hird's name still looms large and the club backtracking on their own strategy after so many losses raises more questions than answers. As well, Corbin & Bob reflect on Neale Daniher as a "prophet" who's commandments should be studied, why the hunger of the Brisbane Lions is under the microscope, how caretaker coach Josh Fraser is ticking all the boxes and Beveridge serves up another motivational metaphor. All the big issues and Monday footy show takes boiled down for you thanks to Corbin Middlemas and Bob Murphy.ABC AFL commentators Corbin Middlemas and Ben Cameron are joined by a rolling squad of former AFL players and legends of the game to analyse matches, deep dive the stories dominating the footy landscape, recap game highlights and talk through the latest AFL ladder standings. Nathan O'Driscoll was one of the big stories of the round after producing the first strong score of his AFL season. It was the kind of performance that makes draft and keeper league coaches take notice, but with such a small sample size, we break down whether there's something Fantasy-relevant here or whether we need to see a bit more before getting too carried away.Finn O'Sullivan has been showing signs all season, and Round 11 was another reminder of why he's a name worth tracking in keeper leagues. The talent has been obvious, but we discuss how the role, scoring and opportunity are coming together, and whether he's starting to move from long-term watchlist player into someone who can help sooner rather than later.Phoenix Gothard also popped up with a big score, and while it might end up being more of a one-off than a true breakout, performances like this are still worth digging into. We look at what worked, whether there's any role change behind it, and how seriously keeper league coaches should take it.We also dig into the other big scores, waiver targets and role changes from the round, with plenty of names to discuss beyond the headline trio.As always, it's about working out what's real, what's role-driven, and what's just a one-week spike.

The Monday footy shows have Essendon in the gun so Corbin and Bob Murphy wonder if Brad Scott is playing chicken with his own board and if Zach Merrett's wantaway attitude is a pattern. James Trezise was one of the big stories of the round after his 108 against St Kilda. He found plenty of the footy in defence, taking 11 marks from 24 disposals, and with Essendon up next, there could be another friendly matchup on the way. The role looks nice, but we break down whether this is a proper keeper league play or just a spike in the right conditions.Mac Andrew is right back in the conversation after another strong score, going 85 against Port Adelaide in a friendly matchup for key defenders. His ruck time has dropped with Witts and Moyle both in the side, but the defensive role is still producing, with Mac now averaging 93.7 across his last three and 88 across his last five. We discuss whether he's becoming a genuine B2P option, not just a 2G4P streamer.Matthew Carroll had his breakout game on the wing for Carlton, finishing with 16 disposals, 10 marks, 3 goals and 96 AFL Fantasy points at 100% disposal efficiency. It was a really clean performance in a role that can score when things fall his way, but the big question is whether he can back it up and become a genuine draft and keeper league option. We also dig into the other big scores, waiver targets and role changes from the round, including Oisin Mullin, Sullivan Robey, Billy Wilson, Jack Ison, Jack Macrae, Tom McCartin, Will Setterfield, Shannon Neale, Ben Miller, Will Hayward, Bailey J. Shocked but not surprised, Corbin & Bob Murphy break down the seemingly inevitable but still sobering resignation of Michael Voss as coach of Carlton. The humanity of the decision hits hard and has stomachs churning but the next steps forward for the Blues are front and centre with options galore. As well, making waves on the Monday footy shows are the Fremantle reclaiming of identity and symbolism, a disbelief that Ken Hinkley is the frontrunner ahead of Nathan Buckley for the Tasmania Devils job, Scott Pendlebury's merch deal and the level of care (minimal) for a Grand Final rematch.ABC AFL commentators Corbin Middlemas and Ben Cameron are joined by a rolling squad of former AFL players and legends of the game to analyse matches, deep dive the stories dominating the footy landscape, recap game highlights and talk through the latest AFL ladder standings. Cameron Zurhaar is back on the radar after a big 110 playing across half-back for North Melbourne. The role has been a bit up and down so far, but with 22 disposals, 10 marks and a goal, we ask whether this is the week that makes him a genuine draft and keeper league option again.Jordan De Goey fell just short of 2G4P status, but his 118 against Geelong was a serious reminder of what he can do in that MID/FWD role. He's now averaging 95 across his last three, so the big question is whether he's finally back to being the player fantasy coaches have been waiting on — and whether we can trust his body from here.Ed Langdon's season looks to have turned around since the move to half-back. With Salem and Xavier Lindsay out of the side, he's found a new role and cashed in with 114 from 29 disposals and 10 marks. We discuss whether this is just a short-term fix or a role that could actually stick. We also dig into the other big performances, role changes and waiver wire names from the round, including Tom Papley, Sam Durham, Bruce Reville, Levi Ashcroft, Connor Budarick, Aliir Aliir, Mac Andrew, Daniel Rioli, Jeremy Howe, Scott Pendlebury, Jake Lever and more.As always, it's about working out what's real, what's role-driven, and what's just a one-week spike.

Even though Richmond didn't secure the four points against the Crows, there is still optimism of the fans. Did GWS go too far with their banner referencing the Bomber's whiteboard from last week? Does Freo's Wharfie Time activation pump up the team or spook the opposition? Which rule does Daniel Harford want to see wound back to how it use to be? Massimo D'Ambrosio is back on the 2G4P list after another strong score on the wing. It was a friendly matchup, but with three good games in a row, we ask whether he has finally turned a corner and become a legitimate draft and keeper league option again.Sam Cumming has wasted no time making an impact, going straight into Richmond's midfield mix and attending 23 centre bounces this week. With Taranto out and Prestia going down early, the opportunity is clearly there — and he now looks like one of the most interesting young names to track moving forward.Noah Balta might be the wildest talking point of the week, rucking for Richmond and scoring 119 with 20 hit-outs. With DEF/FWD status and Richmond short on ruck options, we discuss whether this is just a short-term fix or something that could actually hold value for fantasy coaches. We also dig into the other big role changes and waiver wire names from the round, including Kane McAuliffe, Tom Brown, Lincoln McCarthy, Sam Durham, Colby McKercher, Liam Henry, Peter Wright and more.As always, it's about working out what's real, what's role-driven, and what's just a one-week spike.

The AFL has again found itself embroiled in allegations of on-field homophobia. St Kilda's Lance Collard was handed a nine-week suspension for using a homophobic slur. His penalty was reduced on appeal but the reasoning given by the appeals board has angered many. Former West Coast AFL footballer Mitch Brown, who last year became the first player to come out as bisexual, says the decision is both disappointing and dangerous. He speaks to Nour Haydar
Patrick Retschko headlines the week as one of the most important waiver wire moves, backing up his role change with another strong score across halfback. With Richmond committing to that setup and opportunity opening up, this looks like more than a one-week spike — and the competition is starting to react.Lincoln McCarthy might be the biggest role shift of the round. A move to half back completely flipped his scoring profile, piling on disposals and marks in a way we haven't seen before. The big question now is whether Brisbane sticks with it, because if they do, this changes everything for his value.Hugo Garcia has officially arrived as a genuine 2G4P option. The CBAs are there, the confidence is growing, and he's now producing like a legitimate midfield contributor rather than a fringe piece. This feels like a proper breakout moment rather than a flash in the pan.Christian Moraes is another one turning heads, stepping into a wing role and delivering immediately. After strong SANFL form, he looks like he belongs at the level and fills a need Port have clearly been searching for. There's real upside here if the role holds.Across the board, there are plenty of emerging names putting their hand up — but as always, it's about working out what's sustainable and what's matchup or role-dependent noise.
Cam Zurhaar headlines the week with a monster performance in a new half-back role, showing just how valuable role shifts can be in keeper formats. It's not often you see a bull that far from his paddock and rack it up like that, and it's already sparked plenty of waiver wire movement.Elijah Tsatas continues his rise since returning to Essendon's side, starting to put it all together with his midfield work. The signs are strong that this is no longer just potential - this could be the breakout stretch.Miles Bergman looks like he might finally be back. With Port controlling the game and allowing their defenders to accumulate, we saw glimpses of the scoring profile we know he's capable of. The big question now: is this the turning point or just a one-off?We also dive into the evolving 2G4P landscape, with more players ticking the boxes and others falling just short. Role changes, CBAs, and team trends are becoming more reliable indicators, and identifying these early is key to staying ahead in keeper leagues.Across the competition, there's a growing list of up-and-coming players putting their hand up — whether it's through increased midfield time, new roles, or simply taking their opportunity. Knowing which of these are real and which are noise is what separates the good teams from the great ones. And finally… is Andrew Brayshaw no longer too good for the podcast?
