When we had our daughter, my wife and I couldn't wait to start feeding her solid foods. We figured that every baby had this intuition, or instinct, that made them want to eat. It was not the case. We started with the traditional puree baby food you get at the store and our daughter hated it. She really struggled. But then my wife came across the idea of baby led weaning. Essentially it's all about giving food to the baby to have them use their hands to eat themselves. That worked so much better. I tell you that story to introduce my guests for today. They are Judy Delaware and Megan McNamee, otherwise known as Feeding Littles. These women have taken over instagram with their hilarious videos and amazing tips to help parents get their children to eat. They've taught my family so much. They recently teamed up with Ali Maffucci to write a recipe book called 'Feeding Littles and Beyond: 100 Baby-Led-Weaning-Friendly Recipes the Whole Family Will Love.' The book is great, and so was our conversation.

Hey there! I’m hard at work over here on some really exciting upcoming things so I’ve chosen to re-air the very first ever interview I did on this here podcast 3 years ago woohoo. This is the prefect chat to resurface because it’ll serve as a powerful reminder of how and why to use your spiralizer -- my top summer kitchen tool (outside of my blender of course). It’ll also be a little ridiculous to hear my first ever interview when I was just a wee podcast hosting baby - I really should bring more games into my interviews nowadays, that was so fun. Anyway, here’s my chat with Ali Maffuci, the queen of turning plants into noodles. She’s the founder of the mega-brand Inspiralized, creator of the Inspiralizer tool (which I use to make my veggie noodles), the author of three bestselling cookbooks, the maker of two children and the inventor of the spiralized sweet potato BUN. This is quite the inspiralizing chat:   In this super INSPIRALIZING show, you’ll learn:   Exactly how to spiralize 13 different fruits and veggies from A-Z (literally from Apple to Zucchini) Mind-blowing ways Ali adds spiralized plants to baked goods, desserts, and even cocktails  The inspiring story behind Inspiralized and how Ali keeps creativity swirling around in her head How spiralizing has helped Ali shed 30 lbs. The birth story of the SWEET POTATO BUN (yes BUN - like a burger BUN. Made of sweet potato noodles!) The secrets to not crying over onions and slicing a pepper in 1 shot And so much more!   Links related to this episode: GET THE FREE LIST OF 160+ RECCOMENDED BOOKS! Oh man I've got a great episode for you guys today! I'm so excited to welcome my friend, badass business lady and new mama Ali Maffucci from Inspiralized onto the show today. Ali and I have run in the same circle for a long time but have never had a chance to chat (or meet! - which is weird because this community is really small). We've been supporters of each other's businesses and passions digitally but I'm thrilled we found the time to connect IRL (well on Skype but you know!) and get to know each other better. What I discovered was just how thoughtful, compassionate and truly loving Ali is. This is not something new to anyone who has followed Inspiralized's journey, but with every great story there are behind-the-scene struggles that aren't always captured. On today's episode Ali is opening up about these struggles and how she is finding balance between self-care, her business and motherhood. Here are a few other things we cover in today's episode: Ali's journey and how she quit her job to start Inspiralized Growing the brand and bumps and highlights she hit along the way Having her son, Luca and how that has changed her work-life balance Her own health journey and how that has shifted over the years Her diagnosis of Bell's Palsy and learning to manage her stress Self-care and what that looks like for her How becoming a Mom has shifted her perspective on health Her new cookbook and what's different about this one What advice she would give to her 20 year old self Mentioned in the episode: "It's Not Self-Care - It's Self-Preservation" THM post Join The Healthy Maven Tribe to ask guest questions and to find out who will be on the show before anyone else! http://facebook.com/groups/THMTribe Please don't forget to rate + review in iTunes if you love the podcast.
