After two decades of flat demand, US electricity demand is experiencing rapid growth. Demand is expected to increase 25% by 2030 and 78% by 2050, pushing up electricity prices as suppliers scramble to fund and construct massive amounts of new infrastructure. Average residential bills increased by nearly 30% from 2021 to 2025 and are expected to continue going up, adding to the inflation concerns of consumers. At the same time, public officials are issuing increasingly urgent warnings about growing risks to the reliability of the U.S. electric power system. Our nation’s technological progress, prosperity, and well-being depend on ever-expanding supplies of reliable and affordable electric power to meet rapidly growing demand from proliferating data centers and the expansion of other power-hungry enterprises. The causes that have inflated the price of electricity and threatened the reliability of electric service must be identified correctly and dealt with effectively. How have certain policy developments, including the deregulation movement, the expansion of federal regulation, and the push for decarbonization, affected the price of electricity and the reliability of electric service? Going forward, what changes in federal and state regulation would produce the greatest positive impact on the price of electricity and the reliability of electric service?Join us for a discussion of electric regulation covering these and other important questions featuring experts with decades of relevant experience. Did you know two years after Paul Revere's famous ride, there was a second ride made by a teenaged woman? That's right. On April 26, 1777, 16-year old Sybil Ludington rode 40 miles throughout the night to alert and rally American militiamen to participate in a planned attack organized by her father, Col. Henry Ludington, on British troops near Danbury, Connecticut. To walk us through this historic event, what led up to it and its aftermath in the American Revolution, we are honored to welcome Libby McNamee. Libby is a public speaker, lawyer, Army veteran and author on events surrounding the American Revolution.

In this validating episode, I'm joined by fitness and hormone health coach Molly McNamee, founder of MFit Workouts and expert in helping women balance stress hormones so they can finally shed stubborn weight without restrictive diets or punishing workouts.Together, we break down why the traditional “eat less, move more” approach that may have worked in your 20's and 30's is the exact thing sabotaging your metabolism, nervous system, and fat loss in perimenopause—especially if you're a high-achieving woman juggling stress, responsibilities, and nonstop pressures.Molly shares how chronic stress, cortisol overload, over-training, under-eating, and nervous system dysregulation all block weight loss in midlife, plus what women can do instead to feel strong, energized, emotionally stable, and metabolically resilient again. This episode is essential listening for any woman who feels like her body is betraying her—or who's tired of trying everything and still not seeing results. In This Episode, We Discuss:Why “eat less, move more” works when you're younger… but backfires in perimenopauseSubtle signs of nervous system dysregulation that show up as weight gain, anxiety, cravings, burnout, and exhaustionThe truth about HIIT training, fasting, and hustle culture—and who they actually harmHow to rebuild a fitness routine that supports your hormones instead of stressing themWhere beginners should start (without overwhelm)What Molly does personally to keep her stress and nervous system regulatedHer unfiltered advice for every woman navigating perimenopauseHow to access Molly's resources, coaching, and her Cortisol Checklist Key TakeawaysWeight loss resistance in perimenopause is often a stress and nervous system issue—not a willpower issue.Chronic overtraining and under-eating spike cortisol, which tells your body to store fat, increase cravings, and slow metabolism.Women in midlife need smarter, gentler, hormone-supportive fitness strategies—not more intensity, restriction, or pressure.
Residents of a West Clare community say they live in fear on a daily basis due to a treacherous stretch of road. Since 2007, four people have been killed along the route, with a further eleven hospitalised. Local resident Colette Gavin, who previously lost a loved one on the road says action is urgently needed.

In a stunning twist in the Gilgo Beach serial killer saga, accused murderer Rex Heuermann has officially been cleared in the 1994 strangulation death of Colleen McNamee, a Long Island sex worker long believed to be one of his potential victims. For years, McNamee's name was quietly linked to the growing list of women found murdered across Suffolk County — a list that defined Heuermann as the face of one of the most disturbing serial murder cases in American history. But a new DNA analysis just ended that speculation for good. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Heuermann's genetic profile did not match the “Unknown Male A” found on McNamee's remains. Instead, the DNA points back toward convicted killer John Bittrolff, a carpenter already serving 50 years to life for two nearly identical murders. Ironically, it was Bittrolff himself who pushed for the test — hoping it would shift blame to Heuermann. It did the opposite. This development doesn't exonerate Heuermann from the seven brutal killings he's charged with — victims Amber Lynn Costello, Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Sandra Costilla, Jessica Taylor, and Valerie Mack. Their DNA trails, cell records, and forensic links remain strong. But it does sharpen the boundaries of truth: what's proven, what's not, and how modern forensic science continues to rewrite the Gilgo Beach narrative. In this episode, Tony Brueski breaks down the case that looked like it belonged to Rex Heuermann — and why it never did. From forensic breakthroughs to the psychology of blame, we explore how one killer tried to hide behind another, and how DNA once again cut through the myth to reveal the facts. #RexHeuermann #GilgoBeach #TrueCrime #ColleenMcNamee #DNAEvidence #JohnBittrolff #LongIslandMurders #HiddenKillers #TonyBrueski #TrueCrimeToday Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Today on the podcast we are happy to have Megan McNamee of Feeding Littles. Megan is a Registered Dietician Nutritionist who works specifically with babies, children, and their families to promote positive eating habits. Megan began teaching feeding courses at her local hospital after an unfortunate series of events before her first child was born. It was there that she fell in love with teaching families and babies and met Judy, an OT and feeding therapist, and created Feeding Littles together!Do you have a picky eater? Megan wants you to know that picky eating is normal in childhood! And it won't last forever. You know your child the best, so the guidelines Megan shares with us today may not apply to every situation, but are a great starting place to help your picky eater. We've all heard how beneficial it is for our children to sit as a family for dinner time because it is a time for connection. But we realize that our school-age children have activities that happen during the evenings. Not every family can sit down daily for a meal together, so just do it when you can! We also go through some tips about snacks before bed, easy protein sources, and how you as a parent can set a good example through food. Making school lunches can get overwhelming. Megan and Judy's new book, Feeding Littles Lunches, is the perfect inspiration you need to create simple, easy, and nutritious lunches for your kiddos. With beautiful photography and a list of easy swaps for allergies/diet needs, this book will be your saving grace this upcoming school year! We've been using it this summer for packing our kids' lunches and loved all their ideas!Links & Resources:20% off at Vuori Clothing20% off your purchase of ThorneFree drink mix sample pack with purchase of LMNTFollow Megan on InstagramMegan's WebsitePreorder Megan and Judy's Book - available August 27th; Feeding Littles LunchesLet's connect!HERSELF PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/herselfpodcastHERSELF INSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/herselfpodcastMEET AMY: http://instagram.com/ameskieferMEET ABBY: http://instagram.com/abbyrosegreenThis episode was brought to you by the Pivot Ball Change Network.
Project 2025. - Section: Department of Health and Human Services Who wrote this (from wikipedia) Written by: Roger Thomas Severino (born 1974/1975)[1] is an American attorney who served as the director of the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) at the United States Department of Health and Human Services from 2017 to 2021. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and a contributor on health policy, including abortion, to Project 2025.[2] In March 2017, President Donald Trump appointed Severino as Director of the Office for Civil Rights at the United States Department of Health and Human Services.[8][9][10] He left the position on January 15, 2021.[11] --- Goal #1: Protecting Life, Conscience, and Bodily Integrity. The Secretary should pursue a robust agenda to protect the fundamental right to life, protect conscience rights, and uphold bodily integrity rooted in biological realities, not ideology. From the moment of conception, every human being possesses inherent dignity and worth, and our humanity does not depend on our age, stage of development, race, or abilities. The Secretary must ensure that all HHS programs and activities are rooted in a deep respect for innocent human life from day one until natural death: Abortion and euthanasia are not health care. A robust respect for the sacred rights of conscience, both at HHS and among governments and institutions funded by it, increases choices for patients and program beneficiaries and furthers pluralism and tolerance. The Secretary must protect Americans' civil rights by ensuring that HHS programs and activities follow the letter and spirit of religious freedom and conscience-protection laws. Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person's worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American's fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike. The next Secretary must ensure that HHS programs protect children's minds and bodies and that HHS programs respect parents From Section - OFFICE OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY (EERE) Who wrote this (from wikipedia) Bernard L. McNamee (born 1967) is a government official who served as Commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission from 2018 to 2020.[2] McNamee was confirmed to the position by the United States Senate on December 6, 2018. He previously served in various state and federal legal and policy positions and practiced energy law in the private sector. --- Under the Biden Administration, EERE's mission is “to accelerate the research, development, demonstration, and deployment of technologies and solutions to equitably transition America to netzero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions economy-wide by no later than 2050” and “ensure [that] the clean energy economy benefits all Americans. Needed Reforms End the focus on climate change and green subsidies. Under the Biden Administration, EERE is a conduit for taxpayer dollars to fund progressive policies, including decarbonization of the economy and renewable resources. EERE has focused on reducing carbon dioxide emissions to the exclusion of other statutorily defined requirements such as energy security and cost. For example, EERE's five programmatic priorities during the Biden Administration are all focused on decarbonization of the electricity sector, the industrial sector, transportation, buildings, and the agricultural sector. Eliminate energy efficiency standards for appliances. Pursuant to the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975 as amended, the agency is required to set and periodically tighten energy and/or water efficiency standards for nearly all kinds of commercial and household appliances, including air conditioners, furnaces, water heaters, stoves, clothes washers and dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, light bulbs, and showerheads. Current law and regulations reduce consumer choice, drive up costs for consumer appliances, and emphasize energy efficiency to the exclusion of other important factors such as cycle time and reparability. New Policies Eliminate EERE. The next Administration should work with Congress to eliminate all of DOE's applied energy programs, including those in EERE (with the possible exception of those that are related to basic science for new energy technology). Taxpayer dollars should not be used to subsidize preferred businesses and energy resources, thereby distorting the market and undermining energy reliability. Reduce EERE funding. If EERE cannot be eliminated, then the Administration should engage with Congress and the House and Senate Appropriations Committees on EERE's budget. Eliminate energy efficiency standards for appliances. The next Administration should work with Congress to modify or repeal the law mandating energy efficiency standards. Before (or in lieu of ) repealing the law, there are steps the agency can take to refocus on the consumer by giving full force to the provisions already in the law that serve to limit regulatory overreach and protect against excessively stringent standards.
Last month, the first psychedelic therapy treatment came before the Food and Drug Administration for a vote. It entailed using MDMA, also known as ecstasy or molly, to treat PTSD.MDMA therapy has looked promising as a treatment for PTSD and other mental health conditions in some studies. But the FDA scientific advisory panel that evaluated this treatment voted overwhelmingly against approving it.Many of the arguments against approval had less to do with MDMA itself than with the methodology of the clinical trials done by Lykos Therapeutics, formerly the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, or MAPS. The FDA panel was presented with allegations of misconduct and incongruous data, including a letter by trial participant Sarah McNamee.McNamee, who joined the trial for treatment of PTSD, is also a licensed psychotherapist and researcher of trauma and psychotherapy at McGill University in Montreal. She joins guest host Rachel Feltman alongside Dr. Eiko Fried, a methodologist and psychologist at Leiden University in the Netherlands, to discuss the decision. If you or someone you know is struggling with PTSD or other mental health conditions, call 988 for the suicide and crisis lifeline.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com. She emphasizes the importance of understanding that every body is unique and that personalized paths lead to profound achievements. Molly discusses the negative impact of extreme workouts on the nervous system and hormones and how she developed a less-is-more approach to fitness that focuses on individual needs. Throughout the conversation, Molly provides valuable insights and practical advice for anyone looking to embark on a fitness journey. Key Takeaways: Molly McNamee emphasizes the importance of tailoring fitness routines to individual needs and goals, as every body is unique. A less-is-more approach to fitness can be more effective and sustainable, especially for individuals with high-functioning anxiety or mental health struggles. Quick-fix solutions like weight loss medications and fad diets may provide short-term results, but they are unlikely to lead to long-term success and overall well-being. Making the first step towards a fitness goal as easy as possible increases the likelihood of success and helps build momentum.
