Milo Todd discusses the research process for his debut, The Lilac People. This sweeping historical fiction novel shares a devastating chapter in trans history. Debut novelist Milo Todd joins me to discuss his book, The Lilac People, in honor of Pride Month. This heartbreaking historical fiction novel uncovers a devastating chapter in queer and trans history.Milo's novel centers on a group of trans and intersex patients at Berlin's Institute for Sexual Science as Hitler's regime begins its rise to power. Through stunning research and unforgettable characters, readers uncover a nearly erased history to life—while drawing chilling parallels to today's political climate. In our conversation, Milo shares how real historical figures and overlooked archives shaped the characters in his novel—and why it was crucial to honor the lives of those whose stories were almost erased from history. In this moving conversation, Milo and I discuss:How Milo discovered the history of the Institute for Sexual Science and the work of Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld—and the biggest surprises when researching their legacy. The challenges with research for this novel in the face of the pandemic and the creative avenues he took to build his storyHow Milo sees trans people as being the canaries in the coal mine as we discuss one of his story's most impactful scenesHow Milo's teaching work with trans youth informs his writing and what actions he believes are most impactful in allyship today.BONUS BOOK LIST: This week, I'm sharing a companion book list of 26 LGBTQ History Books to read, including new releases and backlist titles, that offer illuminating details on the joys and triumphs throughout queer history. Ebun Opata will leave WashU as a 12x All-American. Every time she competed in the triple jump, she walked away an All-American.The what if of her careers comes this year. At the indoor national meet, she was overtaken on the final jump of her competitor by just one centimeter. The same thing happened outdoors but it took a +4.4 m/s gust to help to overtake her. Two seperate occasions she missed out on a title on the very last jump. However, she has a great perspective and sense of accomplishment within her career. She has progressed as jumper and saw herself on the team podium with WashU 7 times. This is a great conversation to understand how to deal with setbacks and keep going.SUPPORT BOMBASWe're very excited to have Bombas sponsoring the podcast this month! Welcome to AI Lawyer Talking Tech, where we explore the profound changes reshaping the legal profession. Artificial intelligence is ushering in a new era for law firms, affecting everything from legal education to daily practice. We see a developing "GenAI generation gap," prompting educators and firms to rethink how technology is integrated and how lawyers are trained. While AI assists with tasks like research and drafting, experts emphasize that it must augment, not replace, fundamental legal knowledge and ethical reasoning. This technological shift brings critical discussions about the accuracy of AI outputs, highlighted by instances of fake citations in court, and raises concerns about data privacy. The future of law involves humans and machines collaborating, potentially altering compensation models like the billable hour and requiring lawyers to develop a strong digital quotient. In this episode, Gina and sleep expert Alanna McGinn get real about why managing stress is non-negotiable if you want to improve your sleep. They start by calling out the myth that a perfect bedtime routine is all you need—because if you're running on high stress, your body won't let you rest, no matter how peaceful your bedroom is. Alanna explains how hidden stressors can show up as poor sleep, low motivation, or feeling “off” even when things seem fine. From daily noise and social media overload to intense workouts and strained relationships, she paints a clear picture of how stress adds up. Alanna also shares her “stress bucket” analogy, highlights her top three stress-busting tools, and walks through a practical bedtime routine that actually helps. The message? You don't have to overhaul your life—just start with one thing. If sleep's been a struggle, this episode is your wake-up call.Alanna McGinn is the founder of Sleep Expert and founder of Good Night Sleep Site. Along with her team, Alanna has successfully helped thousands of families overcome their sleep challenges and establish healthy nighttime habits so they can get the sleep they need.IG: @alanna.mcginnwww.alannamcginn.comwww.thebedtimeedit.comHow to Rid Those 3am Wakings - https://goodnightsleepsite.thrivecart.com/stop-3am-wakings-course/Free Menopause Vision Statement - https://goodnightsleepsite.thrivecart.com/menopausevisionstatement/You can find the full video hosted at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/livymethodspring2025To learn more about The Livy Method, visit livymethod.com. In this wide-ranging and provocative conversation, author and publisher Steve Crimi unpacks the layered meanings behind the phrase “Hermes runs the Game”, the title of his new book. Drawing from mythology, ritual history, and personal insights from the early COVID era, Crimi traces Hermes not as a mythic relic but as a living archetypal force permeating systems of communication, commerce, and control. He connects Hermes' mythic role as a trickster, thief, and psychopomp to the linguistic manipulation and symbolic inversion witnessed during the pandemic. The discussion moves fluidly through classical myth, the origins of ritual sacrifice, and Crimi's personal awakening during the social response to COVID mandates. Crimi views Hermes not only as a historical deity but as an active metaphysical principle that continues to shape our perceptions, boundaries, and beliefs—especially in moments of collective crisis.Where to get the book:Logosophia Books:https://logosophiabooks.comHow to find Steve:Steve's SubstackMy personal SubstackBy Steve and Krys CrimiKrystina Crimi at Fine Art America:https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/krystina-crimiKrystina Crimi at Etsy:https://www.etsy.com/shop/PhilosophyFarm?ref=related&listing_id=1199682791#itemsPodcasts:https://logosophiabooks.com/podcasts/Send us a textVisit http://www.magicalegyptwomen.comor http://www.magicalegypt.comGet the latest updates on our link tree https://linktr.ee/magicalegypt.com Connect https://www.facebook.com/vanesemcneill Own Magical Egypt http://www.magicalegypt.com Get Heka https://wow.magicalegyptstore.com/heka Become a Patron https://www.patreon.com/magicalegypt

As an MIT and Johns Hopkins researcher, the journey was nonlinear. I was nearly arrested as a capitalist spy in the Soviet Bloc, got shot off an aircraft carrier, survived in the Kurdish capital as Tehran held hostages, was the first white person allowed into an African Tsonga village, explored religious integration in Vietnamese mountain tribes, developed missile-guidance systems while my frat brothers took Vegas (later portrayed in the movie “21”), and was caught taking my kids to a North Korean DMZ minefield. (Bad dad!)But my background in planetary physics, AI, biomedical engineering, helped me learn from many global expeditions to discover how humans group for work, play, reproduction, civilization, and war. That's how we invented the winning formula system.Leadership Voyageemail: StartYourVoyage@gmail.comyoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@LeadershipVoyagelinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jasonallenwick/, https://www.linkedin.com/company/leadership-voyage-podcast/music: by Napoleon (napbak)https://www.fiverr.com/napbakvoice: by Ayanna Gallantwww.ayannagallantVO.com========== Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. We cover how market sentiment in each crash despite similar percentage drops, explore how exogenous and endogenous factors affected declines and recoveries – plus, why the current drawdown, mired in macro turmoil, most resembles the March 2020 COVID crash.Follow our guests: @cbspears @asilayhodling @btcszn2Notes:- Bitcoin down 30% from $109K to $76K- Markets recovered 9.5% in one day- Terra/Luna crash: 35% drop in one week- FTX collapse: only 30% drop but worst sentiment- US fiscal deficit at $36.7 trillion debt- BitMEX "outage" may have saved 2020 crashTimestamps:00:00 Start00:46 Bitcoin crashes, “don't buy it”06:25 Macro lookback14:00 Covid crash (march 2020)23:18 Terra Luna crash (may 2022)32:16 FTX Crash38:43 Stay humble, stack sats-
