In this episode, I'm diving into something deeply personal and incredibly important: the ways women have been left behind in conversations around health, autonomy, and identity. The traditional medical world has systematically excluded women—not just in research, but in how care is delivered, diagnosed, and dismissed. It's frustrating, it's heartbreaking, and it's time we talked about it. I'm breaking down the growing movements that are trying to fill in the gaps: what they get right, where they fall short, and why they matter. We're going to take a close look at the MAHA movement, which centers on reclaiming holistic health and empowering women to take their well-being into their own hands. I'm also going to unpack the rise of the “Trad Wife” movement, where some women are embracing ultra-traditional gender roles. What's behind this shift? Why are more and more women turning away from modern ideals, and what does that say about the support systems we have (or don't have) in place? Importantly, I'm asking the big question: where do we go from here? Whether these ideas feel empowering, concerning, or confusing to you, this conversation is about understanding the why behind the movements—and imagining a future where women feel fully seen, heard, and supported. In today's episode, I'm joined by the brilliant Logan Ury—behavioral scientist, dating coach, and author of How to Not Die Alone. We dive deep into the messy and sometimes painfully confusing world of modern dating. From the myths that keep us single to the science-backed truths about real lasting connection, Logan shares tons of actionable advice. We chat about how vulnerability and timing play crucial roles in finding a great match, why dating apps feel so overwhelming, what people think they want versus what actually leads to a long-term partnership, her “Three Dating Tendencies” framework, and how to stop self-sabotaging when it comes to finding your forever person. Whether you're single and swiping, newly partnered, or just relationship-curious, this conversation is packed with insights that will totally reframe how you approach dating, relationships, and yourself. We will also be discussing the romantic comedy movie that just came out: The Materialist. If you don't want to hear spoilers about the movie's ending, stop listening when Liz gives a heads-up—around 44:40 on Spotify video or after the second ad break on Apple audio—and come back after you've seen it to hear Liz's and Logan's different hot takes! In this episode, we get into: How to date like a scientist Finding your true deal-breakers Emotional intelligence & dating Money & dating Predictors of long-term success The stress test Physical expectations & dating If love is enough Modern masculinity & modern femininity Relation shopping vs. relation shipping Hot takes on the materialist movie For more from Logan Ury, find her on Instagram @loganury or online at www.loganury.com to check out her newsletter and matchmaking services. Are you finding it difficult to stick to new habits, no matter how badly you want to? New research from Health Psychology on habit forming provides new answers as to why this might be the case. From this research, there are four main reasons why people fail to stick to the habits they want to build. I'm going over all four, and providing tips and tricks to help you avoid the common pitfalls. When we try to build habits, how badly we want to have new habits has very little to do with whether we tend to pick up new habits successfully. This is because of something called the Intention-Behavior Gap, and understanding exactly why we have this gap can help us fix it. Ready to uplevel every part of your life? Make the most of this summer with the novelty rule! If you aren't familiar, the novelty rule is a neuroscience hack I created to make more memories, make time go by slower (no, really, and it's science-backed), and truly make the most of my time whenever I can. When we introduce novelty into our lives intentionally, we live more memorable and more fulfilling lives. Today, I'm speaking with Justine Doiron, AKA Justine Snacks, about the best ways to spice up your summer. Novelty is all about embracing newness, whether you are making old habits or chores feel new or trying new experiences. The summer brings lots of opportunities to embrace novelty in your day-to-day life, friendships, and relationships. Do you think you might benefit from psychedelics, but have concerns about potential risks? In this conversation, I speak with Dr. Alexander Belser about psychedelics, from anecdotal benefits to the chemical breakdowns and reactions of psychedelic drugs. We discuss common drugs like psilocybin and MDMA to indigenous traditions around ayahuasca to lesser-known psychedelics like ibogaine. Psychedelics are being studied for potential benefits for treating depression, PTSD, anxiety, and more. For the average person, do the benefits of taking psychedelics outweigh the risks? And how do you know which psychedelics are right for you? Alex and I discuss anecdotal experiences and research on psychedelics, and the behaviors that can reduce potential harms. In this episode, we get into: What Are Psychedelics? Psilocybin (Shrooms), MDMA, Ketamine, LSD, & Ibogaine Treating Addiction With Psychedelics Ayahuasca and Appropriation From Indigenous Cultures The Science Behind Microdosing How To Safely Experiment With Psychedelics and If It's Right For You For more from Dr. Alex Belser, find him on Instagram @alex.belser or online at https://alexbelser.com/. Today, I'm speaking to Ellen Vora, MD, about new approaches to treating depression and mental health tips. If you want to cut past the noise and finally get to the root cause of your depression, this episode is for you. The most personal pros & cons of having kids episode yet: mine and Zack's! Realistically, how do you go about making a decision that you know will change your life? Zack and I walk through our decision on whether or not we will be having children and all of the research, data, and conversations with experts and friends that went into it. Lots of factors play into the decision to have children, from work-life balance to financial strain, not to mention concerns about whether you would enjoy parenting itself in practice. Ultimately, while data and research can help us make informed decisions, they cannot make our decisions for us. We had to make this decision for ourselves knowing that there is no true wrong or right choice. Ready to uplevel every part of your life?
