Starting in 2023, cash bail is going away in Illinois. The measure to eliminate it has been in the books since early 2021, which has allowed time for planning, but also time for the lines between reality and political rhetoric to become blurred in the public narrative. Capitol News Illinois bureau chief Jerry Nowicki discusses with host Amy Guth. Plus: Bally's Chicago casino plan draws fresh fire; city looks to spark Loop housing wave with TIF money and other incentives; Byron Allen's McDonald's lawsuit survives latest dismissal effort, set for May trial; and among the biggest North American airports, only one is loathed more by travelers than O'Hare in the latest J.D. Power survey.

How To Create Powerful Email CTAs That Actually Work

did you know Omnisend customers automate 32% of their email conversions. Are you maximising sales? automate my sales Reading Time: 6 minutes In email marketing, every email should serve a purpose. There's always something you want the recipient to do after reading the content. For ecommerce businesses, that typically involves getting shoppers to visit your online store, use a promo, or sign up for an exclusive offer. But you can't just leave your recipients to decide on what to do after reading your message. If you want your email campaigns to truly succeed, you need to use a call to action, or email CTA, to lead your readers in the right direction. In this article, you'll learn what a call to action is in an email, how they work, and why they're effective. You'll also see several good examples of real-life email CTAs that work, and get a few bonus tips on crafting your own CTAs for your business. Omnisend gives you access to professionally-designed templates that make your email CTAs easy to see and act on. Start free. What is a call to action (CTA) in an email? A call to action is a statement that convinces people to take a specific action, like buying a product or signing up for a service. It must be concise and direct enough to influence your reader's next step. In emails, these statements appear as distinct buttons or hypertext links. Readers that click on them are led to a page that enables them to complete the action you want them to take. How does email CTA work? Unlike transactional emails, marketing emails are only effective if recipients eventually end up completing a purchase. They will do just that if faced with a compelling call to action. Email CTAs work by telling people what to do next. They are strategically placed where readers would typically ask “What now?” These buttons or links answer that question directly. Most importantly, they encourage your readers to quickly act on what your email content has convinced them to do. For example, consider that your goal for your email marketing campaign is to drive sales for a specific product. Your email copy should describe the product and the benefits of owning it. You might even include testimonials from previous customers. But what will drive customers to action is your CTA button, which might say “Order now,” “Yes, I want one!,” or ”Buy at 20% off.” When clicked, the button leads them to the product page where they can quickly add it to their cart and check out. Without this CTA, readers will be left to decide what to do next, and it probably won't involve visiting your site to complete a purchase. Call to Action phrases Calls to action need to be clear and compelling, especially in ecommerce marketing where the right CTA can be the main driver of revenue. Here are a few different types of CTAs and examples of phrases that get clicked: Email CTAs to encourage product purchase Shop now Order now, get 50% off Buy it now Add to cart now Yes! I want one Email CTAs to encourage shopping Shop our bestsellers Get the style you want Check the new collection View personalized recommendations Shop my style Email CTAs for customer feedback Take the survey Leave a review Complete a 2-minute survey Let us know how we did Yes, I'll share my experience Email CTAs for exclusive offers Shop at 30% off Get free shipping Reveal my mystery coupon Claim my birthday gift Call to Action examples Here are a few email CTA examples from real-life brands to inspire you as you write your call to action phrases for your next campaign: This call to action example from reMarkable emphasizes a limited-time offer and then leads your eyes to the CTA button in red. But what makes the call to action even more effective is that it reiterates the urgency of buying today. Dollar Shave Club also plays on urgency very well. In this Father's Day email campaign, the company targets people that may have forgotten to get gifts for the fathers in their lives and the brand offers a way to save the day. Ra...

As someone who is managing a business, a home, a family, mastering time management can be the difference between you hitting your goals, and you failing month after month. + If you find that your to-do list is too long every week and it overwhelms the life out of you, try doing a to-do list dump at the beginning of the week. Write down everything you need to do, so that you are able to, with a level head, what needs to get done, instead of the “shoulds” that we all face every week.+ When determining the order of importance for tasks on your to do list look at deadlines first. Then once you know the deadlines, put your tasks in order of intentionality and when is the best time for you to accomplish this task, and then schedule it in your calendar or day. + If you're continually not getting everything checked off your to-do list, it's probably because you're not assigning enough time to get tasks done. Hitting a sales goal is a milestone, hitting a revenue goal is a milestone. Revenue is not purpose, and neither is a number of sales. You did NOT wake up this morning just to make progress on hitting a milestone. Ask yourself why you're working toward that milestone. That'll get you closer to knowing what your purpose really is. We work for a bigger purpose. For those moments of “HELL YES, this!” For that surge of excitement about being able to do something you REALLY wanted to do. For that giddy feeling you get from actually doing the things you could have only dreamed about doing when you were 18. For the pride that comes with knowing you can support your family. You do NOT work for “I have 4,500 sales on my Etsy shop.” But you CAN celebrate that, because maybe, if you are doing it right, it gets you closer to achieving your purpose. The other difference between purpose and milestones is that milestones come and go, they are fleeting moments – purpose maintains. Purpose is ongoing. Your business should be mostly enjoyable and should help you make these other ENJOYABLE things possible. The absolute first step is believing it's possible to have a business that helps you get closer to your purpose + surrounding yourself with others who believe it too. Don't skip it!   For full show notes and all the links mentioned in this episode visit merriweathercouncilblog.com/172.   For a complete list of all Merripodcast episodes, visit merripodcast.com.

Strength Changes Everything
Do Smart Scales Actually Work?

Strength Changes Everything

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 13, 2022 16:40

Join us for this replay from the archives and learn more about how smart scales can be important to your fitness journey...   Brian and Amy discuss the pros and cons of a smart scale and how using one properly can help you stay motivated and on track to hit your fitness goals. You will also learn how to avoid one of the most common mistakes people make with a smart scale that can derail them in the first few weeks of their fitness journey. What is a smart scale and how are they different? The major difference is the measurement of body composition and the connectivity of the associated apps. These kinds of scales allow you to more accurately track your relevant fitness metrics, and what gets tracked gets improved. Smart scales use a technology that has been around for decades called bioelectrical impedance. When you step on the scale it sends a small current through your body and can use the speed of the result to measure various body composition metrics. Getting the measurement of body composition regularly is a great way to see progress. When pursuing a fitness program, it's important to track more than just bodyweight because of the increase in muscle mass and reduction of body fat. One issue that occasionally comes up when someone first starts using a smart scale is that you might notice that your body fat is going up, even though you may be losing weight and gaining muscle. This is because the measurement is based on the hydration within your body and that's one of the first things someone sheds when beginning an exercise program. If you're starting a new fitness habit, the first couple of weeks of smart scale measurements may be a bit misleading. It's important to realize that the results will be more consistent and reliable over time. Smart scales are intended to be used at the same time each day. Hydration levels fluctuate throughout the day so using them at the same time will give you more consistent measurements. It's also important to get more data points and measure your weight more often. When you get into a rhythm of measuring with a smart scale you can get enough data to say something meaningful about the trend over time. The pattern tends to look like a sawtooth on the day-to-day scale but over time you will be able to see the overall trend. All physiological changes tend to follow the same pattern. When it comes to which scale to purchase the app that comes along with it is very important. Accuracy and reliability are what you should be looking for.
