Come take a ride with me on this week's Prog-Watch and we'll drive into a Brave New World! (Well every song will be about some world, anyway...the new world, half the world, the real world, a fantasy world, etc.) Soundtrack provided by Michael Penn, The Moody Blues, Big Big Train, Rush, Conspiracy, The Alan Parsons Project, The Strawbs, Kansas, The Electric Light Orchestra, Black Bonzo, David Bowie, Roger Daltrey, Red Bazar, Be Bop Deluxe, and The Anderson Ponty Band!
Spring hit the northern hemisphere this weekend so on this edition of Prog-Watch I'm celebrating the sun! I've got a slew of spectacular solar songs from the likes of The Beatles, Asia, Overhead, Panic Room, Genesis, The Anderson-Ponty Band, Utopia, Jethro Tull, ELO, Schicke Fuehrs & Froeling, The Kinks, Badfinger, Traffic, Anekdoten, Ranaissance, In Continuum, and The Strawbs!
Listeners share their memories of Rush.
Nate Morton & Sean Halley talk about cool hangs, sad bastards, drawing musical blood, amphibian consumption and much more!
Legendary vocalist Jon Anderson led the progressive rock band Yes for almost 40 years – his soaring voice can be heard on such classic albums as Fragile, Close to the Edge and 90125. The work he did with that band brought a level of sophistication seldom heard in popular music. Anderson stepped away for a solo career in 2008.His latest project returns him to a band format – and has been a long time in the works – bringing together two icons of music – Anderson and violinist Jean Luc Ponty – calling themselves the Anderson/Ponty Band – they’re getting ready to release the appropriately titled Better Late Than Never – and our planning a world tour.We chat with Anderson about why it took so long for this project to finally become a reality. He also talks about the passing of his former bandmate, Yes bassist Chris Squire, and how Yes is still not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Jon Anderson This week I spoke to Jon Anderson about the Anderson Ponty Band, their new album and Yes. I also announce the winners of 'Better Late Than Never'. It was an amazing privilege to speak to Jon and an opportunity I will never forget. Thank you, Jon. Is it still exciting to be preparing for a tour? Is a lead violinist the same as a lead guitarist? Will you work with Yes again? Listen to the episode and then let me know what you think! Show notes and links Preston Frazier on GTR Miguel Bass site for Chris Squire tutorial Please subscribe! Anderson Ponty Band - Better Late Than Never The 'Happening' I keep referring to was postponed again this week which only left me enough time to do a very short episode containing a review of ABWH by Mark Anthony K and the details of how to enter the Anderson Ponty Band competition to win one of two copies of the new album, 'Better Late Than Never'! Send your competition entry to show@yesmusicpodcast.com What does Mark Anthony K think of ABWH? Was it really all peace and harmony in the band at the time?
