The soul legends known for their iconic hits, "Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)," "You Are Everything," "You Make Me Feel Brand New," and more, earning them 5 Gold singles and 3 Gold albums, will bring audiences their first new single from the 21-track album "Yes, I Will," featuring Shania Twain, on February 14. "FALLING IN LOVE WITH MY GIRL," produced by Tom Cridland and Executive Produced by Deborah Cridland, will feature a who's who of legendary and noted artists who collaborated on the album alongside Twain: Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones, Gene Simmons of KISS, The Elton John Band (including Nigel Olsson and Davey Johnstone), Bill Champlin of Chicago, Billy F. Gibbons of ZZ Top, Steve Lukather of Toto, Tower of Power, Ray Parker, Jr., Jay Graydon, Justin Hawkins of The Darkness, The Real Thing, Nathan East and Carly Paoli. For "Yes, I Will," Twain had been invited to sing on one of the tracks already written, but she had in mind the perfect song for the album that she had co-written with Nathan East, (to which Tom Cridland contributed), that was a soulful fit for The Stylistics. Ray Parker Jr., Steve Lukather and East performed on the track that was the last song recorded for the collection, and is the first new track in 17 years to be released by the legendary group. Says Twain, "I'm so happy that this song I wrote 'Yes, I Will' has found a home on The Stylistics album. That is just so exciting. It's a special song that came together on one special day at my home where I was hanging out with some friends and musicians. So I think it turned out great and I'm just really excited to share it with the whole world." Airrion Love from The Stylistics adds, "I fell in love with Shania Twain the first time I heard 'You're Still the One' - a great song that I still love. When we heard there might be a chance to do something with her we said, "Hell yeah!"" The Stylistics' original members Airrion Love and Herb Murrell, together with Jason Sharp who joined the group in 2011, recorded their vocals at Spice House Sound in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and at Wright Way Studios in Baltimore, Maryland. Tom Cridland arranged and recorded the background vocals in the Scottish Highlands and at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The Elton John Band including Nigel Olsson and Davey Johnstone laid down the instrumental tracks at the Record Plant in Hollywood, California. "FALLING IN LOVE WITH MY GIRL" was the last album ever made at the legendary recording studio. Episode 64: Nathan East. One of the most recorded musicians of all time, and truly one of the greatest humans—that's Nathan East. I had the best time hanging out with him, diving into his perspective and stories, and cracking up along the way. We talk about his 40-year relationship with Eric Clapton, recording some of the biggest songs ever, and co-writing one of my personal favorite records. His outlook on life is incredible, and I believe that's a huge part of why he's had nonstop opportunities since his teenage musician years. Nathan has played on over 2,000 recordings with legends like Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Stevie Wonder, George Harrison, Kenny Loggins, Daft Punk, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock…the list goes on and on. As a bassist, he's been half of the groove behind a laundry list of the greatest drummers of all time: Vinnie Colaiuta, Ringo, Ndugu Chancler, Jeff Porcaro, Phil Collins, Harvey Mason, John JR Robinson, and more. I hope you enjoy this conversation with the one-and-only Nathan East! I tried my best to make it special from every other interview he's done. Bassist Neil Stubenhaus was a key member of that pool of exceptional talent in LA in the 70s and 80s that were first calls to play on the great albums made during the era. Neil stood shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Nathan East, Lee Sklar and Pino Palladino (among many) to make good music even better. Included on his resume are people like Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, Al Jarreau, Anita Baker, Rod Stewart, Barbra Steisand, the Temptations and tons of others. In fact, we both had nothing else going on so we talked for 3 hours about these and dozens of others. For the last couple decades he's mainly lent his talents to movie soundtracks which is an entirely separate conversation. Strap in and enjoy a masterclass in being good at your instrument. Welcome to a Very Special Episode of the podcast celebrating the show's 3rd Anniversary! I started the podcast in March 2021 during the depths of the pandemic, when musicians like me couldn't play live. It was a bleak time for all of us. I needed to find a creative outlet and so I started this podcast. From the beginning it grew quickly and exponentially. It's been ranked for some time now in the Top 1% of all podcasts. I have listeners worldwide on every continent in 200 countries, and it has won several awards! My guests have included many of the world's most famous musicians and other creatives.Last year to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary I played excerpts from several guest interviews. But for this 3rd Anniversary show I wanted to do something different - and fun. So here's what I decided. After each interview I ask my guest to record a short promo for the podcast. I use these promos at the beginning of other guest interviews. Everyone does their promo a little differently in their own style. After all, they're artists! So I thought it would be fun to put together a montage of promos featuring a slew of my guests. The entire list is below.I want to thank my guests and my listeners for the success of the podcast. As I like to say - Keep On Rockin'! Featured Guests:"Cousin Brucie" Morrow, John Lodge, Ted Nugent, Al Kooper, Gary Puckett, Suzi Quatro, Tony Orlando, William Lee Golden, Richie Furay, Peter Noone, Timothy B. Judith N. Benoit, Singing was always part of her childhood, Judith's humble beginnings started in Church with her family at the age of 6 singing in the choir. By the age of 16, she started writing songs with her family which lead to her auditioning to sing with bands. She was soon snapped up by a management company with her brothers. Then, they met with Adam Moseley well known producer in the business, who started working with Judith and her brothers on their music which saw some big major labels interested in signing them including Motown UK, Polydor Records, Columbia and MCA Records who invested money into them.Judith is a wonderful singer and songwriter, she continued to write and create music on her own til she started a collaboration with Alliance records in 2017, who were able to put Judith together with some awesome musicians to create her album 'Tell Me My Songs' which was released April 2021. The album has done so well with songs Judith has written and others that were submitted. Thanks in particular to these musicians who played on her album Larry Dunn, Luis Conte, Nathan East, Michael Patches Stewart, Gregoire Maret, Luisa Dunn, Morten Jay, Niclas Campagnol, Noah East, Line Krogholm, thanks to Alliance Records. In 2013, the world of contemporary jazz welcomed a newcomer who released her debut, self-titled album, Lindsey Webster. Since then, Lindsey's roots have continued to grow as she's released a total of six albums, with her latest album, “Reasons”, dropping in early September. In fact, the first single from the new album, “I Didn't Mean It”, features Brian Culbertson and hit the Top 10 on the Billboard jazz chart. Success is no stranger to Lindsey, as she and her writing partner, Keith Slattery, have produced two number one and eight top tens on the Billboard charts. In fact, in 2016 Webster became the first vocalist to hit #1 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz charts since Sade. On “Reasons”, Lindsey invites an incredible cast of guest performers, including Nathan East, Randy Brecker, Brian Culbertson, Lenny Castro, Nicholas Payton, Kev Choice, and Lil John Roberts. While there's no shortage of talent with her supporting cast, Lindsey's vocals are undeniable and the star of the show. Inside MusiCast is pleased to welcome Lindsey Webster.
