Stinky Skunk story in the Henton Updates and promise of warmer water in The Surf Report. Ron Sizemore's recommendation to read books at the Library inspired short readings from Mark Twain and Jack London's description of "surf bathing"!
When I first met Andrew Molina in Los Angeles, he was just starting to make waves on the uke scene, but it was obvious he'd become one of the best performers around.

Podcast Show Notes and Links: https://ukuleleunderground.com/2021/03/what-is-your-vision-ft-andrew-molina-uup6/ "What is Your Vision?" This week, we're excited to have Andrew Molina on the podcast. Andrew is a Pro Uke player from Maui. During the podcast, Andrew shares insight to how he stays motivated and focused on his Vision. The podcast starts off with UU asking Andrew about his uke, what strings he's using, and how he arranges songs. When Andrew mentions he's currently listening to John Mayer, the guys fanboy a little, and reveal a fun tidbit about Victoria Vox. Aldrine asks Andrew how Martial Arts ties in to his ukulele playing. This leads him to suggest beginners ask themselves, "What is my Vision?" Aaron asks Andrew about his Electric Ukulele, and Kahai asks what techniques work well with it. Andrew tops off the podcast by playing an original song.
Podcast Show Notes and Links: https://ukuleleunderground.com/2021/03/cs-get-degrees-uup5/ As the saying goes, "C's Get Degrees". The boys give it the gold old college try, but tune in to see if they get their Degrees. The podcast starts off a little rocky with some technical problems, but the team charges on and gives tips for holding barre chords. UU offers feedback on a co-op Student Review with Aldrine suggesting the players watch their attack, and having one person set the rhythm. Kahai advises that the duo diverge their playing, and play in different areas on the neck. A UU+ member asks how they can achieve better audio during zoom meetings and open mics. This sidetracks the guys a little, and they end up talking about Ukulenny, Andrew Molina, and other future podcast guest. The Songwriting Challenge gets the better of the UU team this week. Aldrine and Kahai show their "WIP" songs, and the boys schedule a "Retake Test" (new deadline: March 18th) for the Challenge. Even though "C's Get Degrees", hopefully the team can come back with their A game. The podcast finishes off with a reminder of the new lessons that were just released, and next week's special guest, Andrew Molina.

THE LOOSE STRINGS BAND is an all women band, five members ranging in age from fifteen to twenty three years of age from Galax, Virginia. The band has been together for nine years, playing at bluegrass conventions, special events, ceremonies, and festivals. They are well known in the Blue Ridge Mountains and beyond for their nice blend of tight vocal harmonies and sweet rhythms. They are also unique in their style since they all play an instrument and sing. The band has been well supported and embraced by many through the years. KIRBY JANE is a Nashville-based guitarist from Charleston, South Carolina, specializing in solo jazz/americana performance and fingerstyle arranging. Her award-winning playing style stems from her roots as an ex-pat pianist and her guitar approach draws significantly on composing and arranging methods more commonly seen in the piano world, providing for a nuanced, expressive approach to the guitar. At 24 years of age, Kirby is a protégé of Grammy-winning guitarist John Knowles, CGP. She is also a contributor for for Premier Guitar Magazine. WoodSongs Kid: Although only 8-years-old, Ashlyn Smith flat-picks the guitar well beyond her years. Her hometown is Louisville, Kentucky.
LINDSAY LOU has been making beautiful, soul-shaking music for the last decade with her band The Flatbellys. This Michigan songbird has been featured in a number of the best acoustic music festivals in the US. Her singing floats over the instrumental mastery and deep groove of her band with dynamics that range from a lullaby to a battle cry. 2018 marks what might be the biggest year for the band, both sonically and with the fact that they are dropping “& The Flatbellys” from their name, a decision that seemed like the natural next step for them. The band is set to release their latest, a transformative and heart-wrenching album titled ‘Southland’. DAWN LANDES is one of the most fearlessly innovative musicians working today. Raised in Louisville, Kentucky, and Branson, Missouri, Landes cultivated her musical gifts not only through performing and songwriting, but also through learn-by-doing production work that eventually led her to co-owning a recording studio for a time. Over the years, she has collaborated with such contemporaries as Will Oldham, Justin Townes Earle, and Norah Jones. Her latest ‘Meet Me At The River’ is Landes’ self-described “Nashville record.” She has assured its pedigree by enlisting the production skills of Fred Foster, the Country Music Hall of Fame member and an an A-Team of Nashville musicians. WoodSongs Kid: Cash Staub is a twelve-year-old musician from Williamstown, Kentucky. He has a deep love of bluegrass and old timey music.

Discussion topics include unleashing your inner melodrama, actually appreciating your partner's exes, and the art of giving the perfect "wug." NOTE: there are some mild static noises from about the 40 to the 60 minute mark of the podcast. (Wow, it took a lot of vulnerability to admit that to you.)
Unleash your inner CosmoGirl! Teddy is joined by close friend and Stanford d.school lecturer Andrew Molina to count down the top seven unwritten dating rules (that you should probably break).
