Kerry and Collin plowed through this comedy starring Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito as two feuding neighbors at Christmastime. The experience of watching the film caused one of them to ponder, "why are we doing this podcast?" There are so many other questions, though. What makes the old, white iMacs so special? How long would it actually take to make an elaborate Christmas light trail, cook an even more elaborate dinner and then cover your entire house with Christmas lights? What did DeVito do to prepare in promoting this film back in 2006? All these questions, plus Kerry gives three movies from the "1,001 Movies You Mist See Before You Die" book. Are any of them worth seeing?  Recommended short film: "The Christmas Light Killer"  Book films covered: "Papillon" (1971) "Buffalo 66" (1998) "The Conformist" (1970)

Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTH It's 1981, and John and Lizzie are just a happy couple, dancing to Christmas songs. John is hammering chairs, and Lizzie is just lying left and right. Their daughter, Ivey, comes down the stairs and is so excited for Christmas… BUT ALSO HER BIRTHDAY!!!Now it's 2000, and Rebecca has just moved into the neighborhood. She's greeted by Daisy, who awkwardly stands there until she gets an invite to come in. Daisy tells her she was smart to shovel that front porch, but Rebecca is like, “I didn't.” Daisy gives her a blank greeting card and says people have been doing that all season long here on Cherry Lane. It's fun! Suddenly, her friend Matt shows up. They're just friends, OKAY?!Back in 1966, smart guy David likes Christmas, but it pales in comparison to his neighbor Stephanie. She really does it up for Christmas. And she gets good news—her house might win a big TV contest, the Tommy Saunders' Christmas Eve TV special! But the only problem is her house is too small, so she gives them David's address. David is reluctant at first, but when he remembers that the woman in charge of the grant for his project loves Tommy Saunders, he says OK.Rebecca and Matt's mission is to find out who is doing the random acts of kindness on Christmas Eve.Back in 1981, it becomes clear that John has been offered a big job that would take them to Michigan, and John is very concerned about leaving their home. Lizzie has her own secret—she's pregnant and hasn't told John. The word finally comes out that she's pregnant, and he decides in that moment not to take the job and to stay there. It's time for Tommy Saunders to show up, and he makes them kiss on air, which they both really like—but it isn't something David was planning on. So she ends up going on TV in the next segment and telling the truth. Then, they end up kissing after the crew leaves.Lizzie finds out about the job and tells John that he has to take it.The movie ends with John and Lizzie's daughter showing up in 2000 to pull out her favorite record—the Tommy Saunders record—that she stored under the stairs. This reminds Rebecca, who is Tommy Saunders' daughter, of all the good times she and Matt had together, and they end up kissing.

In this holiday episode we celebrate the season with humor, heartfelt memories, and a touch of glamour. Pol' reflects on his December 27th birthday overshadowed by Christmas and growing up celebrating Armenian Christmas on January 6th. He shares nostalgic tales of leaving cookies and vodka for Santa and navigating cultural shifts after moving to the U.S. Patrik recounts his German-inspired traditions, including his mother's elaborate holiday decorations, like ornaments suspended from the ceiling, and upside down Christmas tress while Pol' reveals his memorable Bulgari-themed Christmas tree.  The *Runway Rundown* segment adds festive flair as they critique celebrity holiday fashion: Beyoncé and Blue Ivy stun in matching gold, though Blue Ivy's mature look sparks debate. Grace VanderWaal earns praise for her chic transformation. Heidi Klum's pearl-white gown misses the mark, drawing playful jabs. Jordyn Woods dazzles in sequins and fur, while Chloë Sevigny's lace dress gets labeled a fashion fail. The conversation weaves personal anecdotes with humor, exploring traditions like Armenian feasts, German holiday treats, and the creative ways families adapt customs across generations. The episode ends with gratitude to listeners, a teaser for Pol's celebrity coffee readings, and heartfelt holiday wishes.  Full of laughs, warmth, and festive spirit, this episode is a delightful celebration of the season.  Subscribe to our audio: linktr.ee/undressedpod Follow Pol Atteu:  Instagram: @polatteu  Tiktok: @polatteu  Twitter: @polatteu  www.polatteu.com Follow Patrik Simpson:  Instagram: @patriksimpson  Tiktok: @patriksimpsonbh www.patriksimpson.com Follow SnowWhite90210: Instagram: @snowwhite90210 Twitter: @SnowWhite9010 www.snowwhite90210.com Watch Season 4 of Gown and Out In Beverly Hills on Prime Video.  www.gownandoutinbeverlyhills.com #UndressedPodcast  Armenian Coffee Reading: https://polatteu.com/armenian-coffee-cup-read Learn more about your ad choices. Thank you for making 50 Episodes of The Assistant professor of Football possible! Whether you celebrate anything this season or not, I hope these days are refreshing for you, hold people and emotions if you want that, and space to breathe in if you prefer that. Last year at this time, I read Michael Foreman's classic picture book War Game as a Holiday special. This December special is me. That is: an audio interview with me that I gave to a fairly well known German soccer culture podcast, Brennpunkt Orange. Its host, Danny, asked good questions about my football biography, about soccer in the US, about my research, and this podcast. Quite a few of his questions I have gotten before, casually in conversations, or in writing from listeners. So 'tis a good time to turn the tables. I am the one being interviewed today. I took the German audio interview and, with the help of AI, have an English version of the interview for you. The German speech to English speech - AI isn't perfect, but it's quite remarkable how well it worked, despite the tech being still at a toddler-stage. So the voices you're about to hear are not mine and Danny's, but two AI voices, who say in English - as best they can - what we said to each other in German in the original interview. That one, by the way, is here.Until after my semester break, in 4 weeks. And thank you, again!(the photo of me for this episode is from Fall 2022 in Graz, at Sturm's old ground, before a derby vs. GAK)NEW: send me a text message! (I'd love to hear your thoughts - texts get to me anonymously, without charge or signup) Please leave a quick voicemail with any feedback, corrections, suggestions - or just greetings - HERE. Or comment via Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky or Facebook. If you enjoy this podcast and think that what I do fills a gap in soccer coverage that others would be interested in as well, please Recommend The Assistant Professor of Football. Spreading the word, through word of mouth, truly does help. Leave some rating stars at the podcast platform of your choice. There are so many sports podcasts out there, and only ratings make this project visible; only then can people who look for a different kind of take on European soccer actually find me. Xmas time is here! So we're bringing our annual Yuletide gifts to you in the form of rockin' and poppin' tunes. The first present under the tree is "I Want a Beatle For Christmas" by Patty Surbey & The Canadian VIPs. Requests for people put Santa Claus in an awkward position. The next gift is "Deck Five" by Saturday's Children. We think this one should be more well-known: it joins "Deck The Halls" with Dave Brubeck Quartet's "Take Five" and ... it works? Sometimes you get an inappropriate gift, and Bey Ireland's "All I Want For Christmas is a Go-Go Girl" is this year's example. It's a weird fusion of Northern Soul and lounge crooning ... Let's forget about all that and get back to the real Goofy Greats - "The Wildest Christmas" by The Rumbles Ltd. Santa makes an appearance in this one, and he sounds like Classy Freddie Blassie! And there's even a final stocking stuffer, so tune in to hear what it is - jing a linga, jing jing a linga!

We discuss a little of everything: Our favorite Game Awards reveals (Onimusha, an orb game exemplar, is back, and so is Okami!) as well as some that have us less thrilled (more Neil Druckmann nihilism in Intergalactic: The Heretic, Borderlands 4's continuation of the series' quiet identity crisis). Then we talk about SAG-AFTRA voice actors demonstrating outside the show and the potential impacts of a Trump presidency on their future prospects. After that, we briefly touch on cameras in games, which absolutely nobody has Opinions about, and then Chris fills us in on the love of his life: Slitterhead. Lastly, we hand out our own awards for the best and worst games media moments of the year. Oh, and we discuss Riley's holiday gaming dilemmas, all of which would be solved if he just bought a Steam Deck.    Credits - Hosts: Nathan Grayson, Chris Person, and Riley MacLeod - Podcast Production & Ads: Multitude - Subscribe to Aftermath! This Halloween, everyone's worst nightmare arrives early—and it's not a ghost or ghoul. Like an overzealous holiday guest, Christmas is creeping into October, hijacking spooky season without a care for Halloween traditions. In this week's episode, Amanda sets the stage with a hilarious rant on premature Christmas decor invading superstores and threatening our beloved Halloween vibes. Meanwhile, Trevin gives us an update on his ongoing battle with a body-focused repetitive behavior, offering insights as sharp as a haunted fingernail. The “Would You Rather” segment dives into delightfully twisted territory: Trevin's question has listeners calling people “Daddy” and throwing in a pelvic thrust, while Amanda contemplates whether you'd rather wipe your memories or live the same day on repeat. For story time, Trevin spins a tale of a “spooky bitch” who just wants a fun Halloween but finds his night marred by fear-mongering courtesy of Fox News. Amanda follows with the saga of a mischievous couple whose Halloween decor goes from festive to frightful, crossing the line into pure pettiness. Both stories bring back the fan-favorite “Pumpkin Everything” song and include an unexpected dash of Christmas spirit. Halloween purists, brace yourselves: it's time to tell Christmas, “Get back to December, where you belong!” Today's Stories: Fear News The Grinch Who Stole Halloween (Discussions include: Christmas, Stores Holiday Decor, Halloween section, Christmas section, nail biting, OCD, body image, mindfulness, lawn mowing, self-control, long nails, Sean Kory, Conservative Media, Daddy Issues, Groundhog Day, Happy Death Day, Palm Springs, Memory Loss, Mom Problems, Fear, Political Humor, Jeremy Meeks, Sexy Criminal, Santa Cruz, California, Scary Stories, Halloween Story, General Mills Monster Cereal, Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Serena Williams, Tennis Racket, Autumn, Fall Time, Cabot, Arkansas, Tim Minchue, Melissa Minchue, Baby Doll, Baby Jesus, Manger, bad neighbors) Join our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/livelaughlarcenydoomedcrew For ad-free episodes and lots of other bonus content, join our Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/LiveLaughLarceny  Check out our website: HereFollow us on Instagram: HereFollow us on Facebook: HereFollow us on TikTok: HereFollow us on Twitter: Here  If you have a crime you'd like to hear on our show OR have a personal petty story, email us at livelaughlarceny@gmail.com or send us a DM on any of our socials!
