The entire world laughed when we saw the now infamous "BBC Dad" video back in 2017, a portent of what was to become reality for millions in 2020. That video is now a symbol of our new normal and a testament to how leadership is being reimagined, redefined, and reinvented every day. Today's guest is no stranger to reinvention. When Michael Roderick went from high school teacher to Broadway producer in under two years people started to ask him how he managed it. Michael began his career as a high school English teacher before producing Off-Broadway and then on Broadway. This combination of experience in the arts and entrepreneurship led to Michael starting an arts incubator program to teach more artists about building and growing their own businesses (PLAE). Eventually, he decided to develop a workshop on networking which grew into a full-time consulting practice and that became Small Pond Enterprises. Michael took a short break to work as the V.P. of Operations and as a Director of Business Development for an NYC Ed. Tech Startup which introduced him to the New York Startup community. Most recently, Michael founded The Connecting Connectors Conference (ConnectorCon). = = = = = The Team here at PYP has put together another uplifting, insightful, and inspiring show for you today. Grand strategy is more necessary--and harder to do--than ever. Alliance management with Japan and South Korea is becoming impossible when one is a hawk and the other a dove. What the hell is happening with Kim Jong Un? China's horrible...and so is anti-Chinese racism. Van's endless white-collar frustrations with working from home in the Coronavirus era. In this special New Year's episode with the BBC Dad, Dr. Robert Kelly, we get his predictions about a range of foreign policy issues for 2020:--Will North Korea conduct a nuclear test?--Will Kim Jong Un meet with Trump again?--Will Trump leave office before the end of the year?--Will there be any wars anywhere?--Will the US withdraw any troops from South Korea?
Robert Kelly, aka BBC Dad, joins us at the Oslo Freedom Forum to talk about North Korea's relationship with China, how conservatives and liberals in South Korea view the Kim Jong-Un regime, and how the Trump Kim summits changed the game.
Robert Kelly is known worldwide. He is the “BBC Dad,” the scholar whose children and wife burst into the room, delightfully, as he was giving an interview. Do you remember? It's good that Kelly has a worldwide fame – because he knows as much about the Koreas, North and South, as anyone. With Jay, he runs through many of the most important issues. And he also relates what it's like to be the “BBC... Source
My guest this week is Mike James. Mike talks about his experiences going to a megachurch youth group, a small Christian college, moving from planting a church to starting a winery, and what his deconstruction has revealed about the "life on rails" he felt he was leading before. We also talk about the privilege afforded to both of us as white straight men, and much more. Follow Mike on Twitter @HyperbolicMike. Intro/Outro: "Night Owl" by Broke for Free. This week, the BBC Dad (and his family!), helping your pastor out, and things to do on Sunday that don't involve mindless scrolling. All this and our picks of the week!
In this episode of the CaPC Digest, Drew and last minute co-host Jonathan Clauson are joined by CaPC writer Val Dunham. The discussion centers around Val’s article, Solidarity, BBC Dad and her own reflections on the social media phenomenon. The conversation includes a recap of the video itself followed by a breakdown of the different corners of the internet reacting in different ways to a 2 min clip. Was it patriarchy on display? Was it dad panicking in a high pressure interview? All this, and a startling confession from Jonathan about his failure as a parent is in this episode of the Christ and Pop Culture Digest.

Andrew doubles down on his latest pop culture theory, even though he's not getting any support. He and Luke discuss Rachel Maddow's Tweet Heard 'Round The Liberal World and a recent follow-up interview with the "BBC Dad."
Hello there Cool Kids! So, due to both Travis and Brent traveling, this episode is a little light. By "light" we mean a whole bunch of brief stories rather than in-depth coverage of one or two stories. But don't be fooled, the episode is still almost an hour and a half long! In Headlines this week, we're talking BBC Dad, Vibrator Lawsuit and Fearless Girl statue. In Politics Round up, we cover Healthcare Bill Update, Steve King Tweets, Jeff Sessions Fires Judges and a Wiretapping Update! And of course, the Wi-Five of the Week! Enjoy, and be sure to share!
What makes a video go viral? Spencer and Jack explore the subject of viral videos on this week's episode and discuss whether or not the church is capable of producing viral content.
