After guesting on the Blogtacular podcast many years ago, Kat Molesworth wrote the episode caption that said I was 'playing by my own rules.' Those 5 words hit me like a lightning bolt of clarity that hollered... YES! THIS IS HOW I CREATE MY OWN SUCCESS. And Play By Your Own Rules has now become one of the core philosophies at Indie Roller. In today's episode I talk about how to embrace this philosophy to move past the confusing 'shoulds' and build a business that represents what YOU want to create in the world. [Tweet ""When we treat ourselves with love, care, trust and respect we will not accept less from somebody else that can't be or do what we already can for ourselves. - Natalie Lue of @baggagereclaim""]According to Urban Dictionary, a situationship is a relationship that has no label on it. I like to call them Psuedo relationships. It's when you're "dating" someone and it feels almost like a whole relationship but not quite. You and your boo may always hang out, finish each other's sentences, have sex, go out, meet friends and family but when it comes time to have THE talk about making things official and committing to each other, someone always says; "Nah, why mess up what we have with a label?"

In this episode I’m talking to political risk strategist and blogger Supal Desai. I met Supal on the photowalk she led for Blogtacular this year and was so impressed by her life and story, how generous she is with her knowledge and how she is living her life without compromise. I wanted to get her on to talk about embracing this working set up, balancing everything she’s doing, taking opportunities and believing intensely in your work. There’s a great mix of practical and conceptual takeaways from this and I hope you really enjoy it.

My guest this week is author, journalist and storyteller Laura Jane Williams. I first met Laura when we were both presenting at the Blogtacular conference a couple of years back, shortly after the publication of her first book. Since then she's written a second, follow-up memoir and taught the secrets of her storytelling magic at workshops, classes and courses online. She writes with spellbinding beauty across multiple platforms, including the most exquisitely crafted instagram captions, so I called her up to dig into some of her secrets, and get the low down on her journey so far. And in case the opening quote above wasn't enough of a heads up - a warning for occasional adult language in this episode too.
