This episode is part of the Unavailable for Self-Abandonment series — conversations for women who are done negotiating with themselves. If you've ever wondered why confidence feels solid one moment and shaky the next, especially when things get uncomfortable, this episode will shift everything. Confidence isn't lost in discomfort — it's built there. We're breaking down why discomfort shows up right before growth, how to interpret it correctly, and what to do instead of abandoning yourself the moment things feel unfamiliar. This is about self-trust, nervous system safety, and learning how to stay with yourself long enough for confidence to form. This isn't about pushing harder or fixing yourself. It's about learning how to stay connected to who you already are — especially in the gap.WHAT WE GET INTO✨ Confidence Grows in the GapThe gap — the space between uncomfortable and comfortable — is where most people panic, overthink, and assume something has gone wrong. But that gap is actually the training ground. Discomfort isn't random — it's information.✨ What “Uncomfortable” Is Really SignalingDiscomfort isn't danger. It's your nervous system saying, “This is new. Pay attention.” New boundaries, new standards, new versions of you. Alert doesn't mean incapable — it means unfamiliar.✨ Why Interpretation Is EverythingTwo people can experience the same discomfort and walk away with completely different outcomes. Your interpretation shapes your confidence, your identity, and your future choices. Same sensation — different meaning.✨ The Bridge Between Uncomfortable and ComfortableComfort isn't something you wait for — it's something you create through repetition. Confidence forms when you stay instead of escape long enough for unfamiliar to become familiar.

If confidence has felt inconsistent lately, this episode is here to remind you: nothing has gone wrong. We've been taught to believe confidence is just a feeling — calm, certain, ready — and that once we feel it, then we can move. But real confidence doesn't work that way. Confidence is conditioned. It's built through action, repetition, and staying connected to yourself when things feel unfamiliar. This episode starts the Unavailable for Self-Abandonment series — conversations for the woman who is done negotiating with herself and is confident enough to disappoint because self-trust is now the standard. We're reframing confidence as something you practice, not something you wait for — and reconnecting you with the version of yourself who already knows how to move without guarantees. If you've ever thought, “Why do I feel less confident now than I used to?” — this episode will land deeply.WHAT WE GET INTO✨ Confidence is conditioningConfidence isn't motivation or mindset — it's built through action, practice, and repetition, especially when things feel uncomfortable.✨ Why confidence gets mistaken for a feelingWe confuse calm with capability. Calm comes after repetition — not before.✨ Discomfort isn't dangerYour nervous system feels alert when something is new — that doesn't mean you're incapable. It means you're in unfamiliar territory.✨ Why confidence feels inconsistent during growthNew environments require new reps — and new reps create new confidence.✨ Reconnecting with the version of you who already trusts herselfYou don't need to become someone new. You need to remember who you've been before.

No meetings. No calls. No exceptions. Those closest to me don't even ask anymore – they know I'm about to perform my annual disappearing act. I've done this long enough now to know… Those 24 hours are one of the biggest reasons my life doesn't feel like the same year dressed up in different clothes. Today, I want to tell you why I disappear for one day every year, what the holiday overwhelm is really costing you, and why giving yourself this kind of space can completely change your self-image and the year ahead. Here's what we cover: • Why stepping away for 24 intentional hours can break the cycle of repeating the same year • How distance, rest, beauty, and new environments create clarity • The difference between default goals and vision-led goals rooted in desire and honesty • How curation (reflecting, imagining, and choosing) reshapes both your year and identity • Why most women stay stuck in loops and how pausing helps you see new possibilities • How designing your year like a masterpiece leads you to become the woman you want to be Did you enjoy this episode? In this episode, we explore the deeper patterns that make emotionally unavailable partners feel so familiar — even when you want something different.Rather than framing this as a personal flaw or something you're “doing wrong,” this conversation explores the deeper emotional and relational patterns that make certain dynamics feel familiar, magnetic, or even safe on a nervous-system level.I walk through five core reasons this dynamic tends to repeat:Low self-worth: When love feels like something you need to earn, you may be drawn to people who require effort.Inconsistent early relationships: If connection was unpredictable growing up, inconsistency can feel like “home.”Hope, potential, and the saviour role: Why focusing on who someone could be keeps you invested long after the relationship stops feeling good.Intermittent reinforcement: How sporadic affection creates an addictive cycle that's hard to break.Your own emotional unavailability: The surprising ways pursuing unavailable people can protect you from deeper vulnerability. This episode offers a compassionate look at why these patterns form — and what it takes to move toward relationships that feel mutual, steady, and emotionally safe.Register for the 28-Day Secure Self Challenge here

This conversation delves into the core doctrines of evidence law, focusing on burdens of proof, judicial notice, privileges, and hearsay exceptions. The discussion emphasizes the importance of understanding the underlying principles and policies that govern these legal concepts, providing listeners with a comprehensive framework for navigating evidence law in exams and practical applications.Imagine standing in a courtroom, the stakes high, and the truth hanging in the balance. Evidence law is the backbone of this scenario, ensuring fairness and justice. In this post, we delve into the intricacies of burdens of proof, judicial notice, and privileges, unraveling their significance in the legal landscape.Burdens of Proof: At the heart of any legal proceeding lies the burden of proof, a party's responsibility to substantiate their claims. This burden is twofold: the burden of production, which requires presenting enough evidence to establish a prima facie case, and the burden of persuasion, which demands convincing the judge or jury of the truth of the claim. The dynamic nature of these burdens, especially in negligence cases, highlights the delicate balance between fairness and efficiency in trials.Judicial Notice: Judicial notice serves as a powerful tool for efficiency in the courtroom, allowing certain facts to be accepted as true without formal proof. Governed by F.R.E. 201, it distinguishes between adjudicative facts, which relate directly to the case, and legislative facts, which inform the law itself. The Lincoln Almanac trial exemplifies the strategic use of judicial notice, showcasing its potential to sway a case without additional testimony.Privileges: Privileges in evidence law represent a deliberate choice to exclude relevant evidence to protect vital relationships and societal values. The spousal privileges, for instance, safeguard marital harmony and confidential communication, reflecting the law's prioritization of personal relationships over complete transparency. Understanding these privileges, along with others like attorney-client and psychotherapist-patient, is crucial for navigating the legal landscape.Evidence law is a complex tapestry woven from the threads of fairness, efficiency, and truth. As you continue your legal journey, consider how these elements shape the pursuit of justice, balancing the scales between individual rights and societal interests. Subscribe now to stay informed on the latest insights in legal studies.TakeawaysThe goal is to understand the why behind evidence rules.Trial fairness is a constant balancing act with other societal values. The burden of proof is a party's responsibility to prove their claims. There are two components to the burden of proof: production and persuasion. The burden of production can shift between parties during a trial. The burden of persuasion never shifts from the party who originally had it.Different standards of persuasion exist: preponderance, clear and convincing, and beyond a reasonable doubt.Judicial notice allows courts to accept certain facts as true without formal proof.Privileges protect certain relationships even at the cost of excluding relevant evidence.Hearsay exceptions require the declarant to be unavailable for certain statements to be admissible.evidence law, burdens of proof, judicial notice, hearsay exceptions, legal privileges, trial fairness, standards of persuasion, legal education

The only time she reaches out is when she needs something. She's not emotionally available with us and if we didn't reach out, we probably wouldn't hear from her at all. I've distanced myself from people who don't meet me halfway. But can I do that with my mom?  What do you do when the very person that isn't showing up in a relationship is your own mother? Play Episode Listen Later Jul 24, 2025 41:15

SHOW NOTES: On this show…we're talking about how to stop rushing toward “what's next” and start enjoying the ride. Have you ever caught yourself racing through life, so focused on the finish line that you barely notice the scenery around you? It's easy to fall into a pattern of “when I get there, then I'll be happy,” only to find that there keeps moving further away. Whether it's the next promotion, the next milestone, or just the next weekend, we're often living for the future—and missing the now. In this episode, we'll explore what it means to slow down and actually enjoy the journey. We'll talk about how to balance ambition with presence, how to check in with yourself along the way, and how to set future goals that honor where you are today. The road may be long, but it's filled with meaning—if only we'll pause to take it all in. Why are we always in such a hurry to “get there”? Wherever there may be—financial security, a relationship milestone, a certain job title—we often place so much pressure on the end goal that we forget to live on the way to it. It's like being on a beautiful scenic drive, but instead of taking in the views, you're glued to the GPS. Focused. Determined. Unavailable. This urgency often stems from our culture's obsession with productivity and achievement. From a young age, we're taught to aim high, set goals, and never stop climbing. And while ambition can be a healthy motivator, it can also become a thief—stealing joy from our present moments and creating anxiety about a future we can't fully control. Have you ever reached a long-awaited milestone only to feel let down afterward? Like the buildup was more thrilling than the arrival? That's a sign you might be living for the next thing instead of enjoying the current one. When we're constantly chasing what's ahead, we miss opportunities for connection, reflection, and simple joy that exist right now. The truth is, the destination is only part of the journey. And ironically, the real transformation happens along the way—in the delays, the detours, the conversations, and the quiet moments of self-discovery. So let's slow down for a second. What if you already are becoming who you're meant to be? What if rushing is keeping you from noticing how far you've actually come? There's nothing wrong with wanting more. Goals give our lives direction, motivation, and meaning. But if we're not careful, they can also become blinders—blocking out everything that isn't the finish line. Ambition says, “Keep going, you're not there yet.” Presence asks, “But aren't you here now?” Goals Are Not a Destination, They Are an Invitation Mindfulness and Being Present in the Moment For People Feeling Behind In Life CHALLENGE: Take a breath and look around—what beauty, progress, or peace might you be missing in your race to the finish line? Give yourself permission to slow down and be fully present for the moments that are happening right now. I Know YOU Can Do It!

Running multiple businesses while maintaining space and freedom in my home life often surprises people. The key isn't just about processes and delegation - it's about developing intentional daily habits that create genuine presence and connection.    Being present isn't something that comes naturally to me. It's a skill I've developed through consistent practice and dedication. Just like an athlete training in all conditions, I've worked hard to build habits that allow me to truly disconnect from work and engage with what matters most.    Tune in this week to learn the habits I've built into my life to create effective boundaries between work and home. The latest podcast sees Moose and Dews having a good catch-up, discussing some of their ongoing challenges with respect to work-life balance, particularly in relation to family responsibilities and mental health while WFH. While they're on the subject of shop-talk, there's also updates on the merch situation, and the latest on Dirty Panda; the soon-to-be-released Primordial spiced rum! The rock news this week features Iron Maiden's request for concert-goers to “severely” limit phone use during their upcoming tour. The guys explore the impact of mobile phones on the gig-going experience and the differing approaches taken by bands like Ghost, Tool and Iron Maiden. Unsurprisingly (given that they're literally everywhere atm!) the conversation then shifts to the meteoric rise of Sleep Token, as they have broken yet more records with the release of their latest album Even In Arcadia. Coming up on this episode for Flirtations, we welcome Natalie Lue, the host of the Baggage Reclaim Sessions podcast and the author of five books, including The Joy of Saying No, to have a conversation with us about people pleasing! Natalie is a leading voice on boundaries and people-pleasing, helping people understand how their emotional baggage interferes with their ability to live authentically. Together, we'll delve into what people-pleasing truly is and explore the five distinct styles of people pleasing Natalie identifies: gooding, efforting, avoiding, saving, and suffering. We'll discuss how people-pleasing often originates from childhood experiences and how it manifests in our adult relationships, particularly in dating. Natalie will shed light on why people-pleasing can be a significant barrier to genuine intimacy and the importance of embracing conflict as a natural and sometimes necessary part of healthy relationships. We'll also examine societal norms, the ways we're socialized, and how the era of obedience have influenced our tendencies to people-please, and why understanding and respecting differences—rather than merely mirroring others—is crucial for authentic connections. Finally, we'll explore the vital role of boundaries in breaking free from people-pleasing patterns and how to recognize and change these behaviors to foster more fulfilling relationships. So, if you're ready to change your people pleasing habits and create more fulfilling relationships, this episode is for you! Let's do this Flirties, and meet Natalie! She advises against using passive language and instead promotes assertive, clear communication that demonstrates leadership and strength. The episode includes actionable advice on how to transform follow-up messages to exhibit decisiveness and authority. This approach shifts from waiting for clarity to creating it, moving women from the role of support to the role of standard-bearers in leadership dynamics.

But the Bible clearly presents a consistent narrative from Genesis to Revelation of God’s big picture plan for the salvation, redemption, and judgment of human beings. Jesus paid the penalty of sin for all who trust in Him, God is free to extend mercy to those who repent.
