Guy Talks to Owner Tricia La Belle and manager Dave Brooker of the Sportsman's Inn located in Kernville CA. Tricia's Bio: From Newtown Connecticut, at the age of 22 I met a musician from Los Angeles and felt the desire to move to California in search of success myself, I struggled with modeling and finding a legit fashion scene at the time as runway was my thing. I started a services company called Perfection Services where I did everything from Script Reading to cleaning homes. I then picked up a job as a messenger and driver while I went to college seeking a degree in law. Then I met another guy who got me involved in event promotions and my life took a wild turn after we broke up, I started my own event in a Hollywood nightclub in 1998 called Bar Sinister that is a world renowned alternative club today I ended up buying the club and today own Dave's on Broadway in Glendale, Boardners of Hollywood, Bar Sinister, Bon Vivant Market & Cafe in Atwater Village and The Sportsman's Saloon in Kernville and place that I have been coming to for its epic beauty, white water rafting, hiking, camping and star gazing. So in love with the area as it allowed me some of the pleasures I enjoyed as a kid back in Ct. I sat as president of the Kern River Conservancy for 5 years and am continually proud of what KRC has done for this magnificent river! As a business owner with over 150 employees I am also actively involved in the communities I serve, I sit on the Kernville Chamber, president of The Greater Los Angeles Hospitality Association, Cal Nightlife and I once served on the Hollywood Central Park Board and Hollywood Central Neighborhood council. My businesses, my incredible staff and my customers are my passion along with my two cavapoos Whisky & Disco, I love to ski, raft, hike, travel, cook and eat food, drink beverages made with love! Spoiler alert: Tami fucking cries again. This week we take a sideways step from the usual ghost stories and dive into the fascinating/terrifying/hilarious world of Near Death Experiences. Amie tells the story of Messiah, who faced the devil and came back for his daughter. Tami fell down the rabbithole that is the International Association of Near Death Studies, and still isn't sure how much to believe. Luckily we have a bunch of funny stories to lighten the mood at the end; who doesn't love a good zombie story? And the girls make another afterlife plan to meet at Boardners... of course. . Phew! Finally a good review! Blue Mondays is the place to be on Monday nights in Los Angeles according to our comedy correspondents Matt Mentele & Betsy Hayes. Blue Mondays is the name of the nightclub which spins 80's new wave on the inside and rotates genre's on the outside patio, although Betsy had a hard time identifying the differences between the two since both were "The room to be in". In this episode Mentele & The Hayes encountered indie vs. emo night on the patio, mostly emo, and due to the 18+ age limitation, a lot of whining to said emo. Betsy's angsty middle school heart was in heaven. Matt was also there. Being sung at by 18 year old children. Oddly enough both of our heroes had a good time at the dark and mysterious Blue Mondays nightclub. Stay tuned for our next episode where Matt & Betsy switch it up again and visit a rooftop cinema club right in the heart of Hollywood! : : Matt Mentele Review : : Service: A Dance Floor Vibe: A Aesthetic: A Music: C *Betsy's Bonus Points* A photo booth always gets bonus points. Betsy was lost in the club the entire time in a flurry of nostalgic giddiness. "Congratulations you just played a lot of hits" - MM "I don't even know where the DJ was, that gets major bonus points! He was nowhere to be found which makes for a great dance party. A+ " - BH "It attracts a lot of interesting people.
