Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Editor David Horovitz joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Coffins holding what are believed to be the bodies of four slain hostages were driven across the border from the Gaza Strip back into Israel this morning, 503 days after they were abducted alive by Hamas-led terrorists. The four were named by Israel and by their terrorist captors as Shiri Bibas, Ariel Bibas, Kfir Bibas, and Oded Lifshitz, all kidnapped from their homes in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023. In today's episode, we hear about two ceremonies conducted this morning: one, a cynically staged Hamas propaganda fest in Gaza; the other held by the IDF in the Gaza Strip led by IDF Chief Rabbi Brig. Gen. Eyal Karim. We learn what the Bibas family and Oded Lifshitz represent to Israeli society and how their families are reacting to the apparent return of their bodies. We also preview Saturday's planned release of six living male hostages, including how they were likely chosen, and discuss a Hamas offer to release all remaining hostages in one go in a potential phase two of the ongoing ceasefire-hostage release deal. Please see today's ongoing live blog for more updates. Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts. Listen now to Aaron's report on today's return of the bodies of the Bibas family to Israel.Hamas murdered a Jewish mother and her two children as well as an 85 year old gentleman, then paraded their bodies in front of thousands of cheering Palestinians today—a calculated decision that destroyed any hope Palestinians have in a two state solution. By creating such a grotesque scene, Hamas proves to the world once again that it cares nothing about a two state solution. Its only mission is the brutal murder of every Jew in Israel. By supporting these monsters and celebrating the murder of babies, the Palestinian people are guilty of infanticide and seal their fate to forever live in the rubble they have created through their hatred of Jews.

Ever heard of a woolen coffin? Neither had I until I spoke to Eleanor Hunt, founder of the Woolen Cwtch Company. Eleanor is revolutionising the funeral industry by creating unique woolen coffins, shrouds, and urns that are not only biodegradable but also support local farmers by unlocking the value of their wool. Based in rural Wales, Eleanor saw an opportunity to repurpose local wool—a resource farmers were struggling to profit from—into something totally unique: beautiful, biodegradable woolen coffins. She shares how she turned a simple idea into a growing business, completely rethinking an industry steeped in tradition. This episode is packed with insights for anyone creating a product from scratch, especially if you're figuring things out as you go. Eleanor's journey shows the power of persistence, how she navigated product development (including some serious trial and error), and why she's so passionate about making a positive impact—both for the planet and the farming community. If you've ever had a business idea and thought, Where do I even start?, this episode is for you. On this episode we talk to Max Justice from Setas Mushrooms — the innovator behind MyCoffin, biodegradable coffins made of mycelium and industrial hemp. Justice is the co-founder and CEO of Setas Eternal Living, a company that offers people a sustainable end-of life solution — with aspirations to disrupt the death industry with affordable and sustainable options. For Justice, Setas Eternal Living was logical next step in his fungus journey. He and his wife started Setas Mushrooms on their farm in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, after discovering the healing power of mushrooms during his wife's illness. Fungus changed their lives forever. In this episode we'll hear about the process of making coffins from mycelium and hemp and how this product compares to traditional burial vessels. Compared to traditional caskets that will take centuries to breakdown, Justice's coffin will biodegrade in just a few years, making it a good option for green burial. Phil's job renovating foreclosed properties led him to an unsettling discovery at a former funeral home in Rome, Georgia. While working on the property, he found two real coffins in the basement—used for decades in funeral ceremonies before being shipped off for cremation. These coffins were eventually sold to a haunted house attraction in Chattanooga. But things quickly took a dark turn as strange occurrences began—actors refusing to get into the coffins, unexplained touches, and lids mysteriously closing on their own. The coffins, now part of a spooky attraction, still hold the eerie energy of their past. What kind of spirits linger in these coffins, and what happens when the dead refuse to stay quiet? In the hills of Deir el-Bahari, a secret tomb held the reburied mummies of Egypt's famous pharaohs. Figures like Sety I, Ramesses II, Thutmose III, and Amunhotep I lay in rest, in carefully hidden coffins. However, the caskets themselves hold many secrets, which today's guest has spent years exploring. Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com Phil Spector famous music producer was the most insanely jealous crazy person. He kept his wife Ronnie locked in their mansion for months. If she left the house she would have to have a mannequin in the car seat next to her so men would think she was with someone… he even had a glass coffin in the lower level of his house where he would threaten to put her in if she ever tried to leave…. Long story short, she escaped and later Phil was convicted of ordering another women… tell me your surprised! This jealousy is spelled out and more easily understood from the perspective of a husband the husbands exclusive right to his wife's sexual faithfulness, was recognized by the mosaic law. Proverbs 6:33 Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; He who does so destroys his own soul. 33 Wounds and dishonor he will get, And his reproach will not be wiped away. 34 For jealousy is a husband's fury; Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. 35 He will [l]accept no recompense, Nor will he be appeased though you give many gifts. VENGENCE HB Naw-Kawm - absolute vengeance **a husband will be avenged and take vengeance upon the man who committed adultery with her. It will be out of a godly jealousy! This is an exclusive example that we understand in this situation, but it's to a much higher degree with God and his people. God's jealousy follows from a couple truths about God which are well-established in the Bible: 1.Idolatry is adultery. 2.God is good. 3.God knows best 1. Idolatry is adultery…. You are married to Jesus. Most references to God's jealousy come in the context of the covenant which ancient Israel had made with God which they were breaking by following other gods. Have you ever met a man who gave his wife everything. He sacrificed, He served, He petitioned for her, He loved on her, He forgave her, He went the 3rd, 4th and 50th mile… when everyone wondered why He would give so much to a wife so less deserving… and only to watch that wife have an affair, walk out on the marriage…. **The man steps back and in hurt says… Im what was best for you! I know your sins, your foibles, your insecurities, your pain, your wounds, your secrets… and I would have loved you forever in spite of them. Gods what is best for you - that is why he is Jealous!

Setas Mushrooms was established in January 2020 growing hundreds of mushrooms. Max Justice, CEO of Setas Mushrooms has found a way to create a final resting place made from mushrooms. “I use fungus to grow alternatives. And in fact, I've been able to grow alternatives to concrete, plastic insulation as well as coffins and urns. Now, my installation, that's a whole different, topical, different industry. But let's just say that it's made from the exact same thing, the exact same process. There is no difference between my installation and my coffins. The only difference is the mold, the shape in which I grow it. So, I grow a sheet of insulation the same way I would a coffin. And I simply take some of our substrate and our substrate.” Setas Eternal Living was born out of Justice losing so many loved ones. He wanted to create a more heartfelt meaning to the afterlife. “I know that our coffins are designed to biodegrade the body of a human in under three years. And I'm halfway through the real world, demonstration of a full-sized pet, a large pet that, being fully, decomposed in less than two years. I just had a chicken that, unfortunately, I lost about a year ago that we exhumed last week. Or maybe it's two weeks ago now, and all I found after a year was two thigh bones and, a few skeletal bones, and that was it.” Justice explains how biodegradable coffins are made. He says his method was inspired by a company Loop in the Netherlands. “So they're grown and, a form factor. And I have created a, a mold. But I've learned a lot from the first couple of designs to where we now have a multi-part mold. Mold that we will. We bring together, and we're still working on how we bring that together. Right now, we screw a couple pieces together. We've tried, doing, bands, and we're still in the middle of refining our process. But what we have is a is a good process that helps us grow mold. Exhuming grows coffins. Now, how we grow coffins, we take that fungal, mass, in this case with this Ricci or oysters, and we colonize that into our substrate and are some straight being hemp or our hemp and, cornstalk mix. And we also throw in a little bit of flour a little bit, gypsum or actually drywall. So, any time that we recycle drywall, or we have leftover pieces of drywall, we use that to get to our fungus to grow either fresh gourmet mushrooms, our medicinal mushrooms, or our coffins. They're great. Part of that process.” According to Justice, embalming is not necessary for the biodegradable coffins. “In fact, it's recommended that you don't. Because really, once you embalm somebody, you're putting chemicals into a person, and then those chemicals are leached into the ground. So, from an environmental purpose, we want to be as natural as possible. Going back to the Earth, naturally.” Support WITF: https://www.witf.org/support/give-now/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In the face of recent PSA comic grading news, Dave makes the case for comics as more than just trophies to be idolized but as a relevant art form with cultural value that should never beholden to third parties. As more interest turns toward shallow value systems and misguided interest, will we be able to avoid repeating the industry collapse of early 90s? After all, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Www.directeditionpodcast.com

When Muswell Hill resident David Farrant wrote to the letters section of the Hampstead and Highgate Express in February 1970, he had hoped to find others who'd witnessed any unusual or potentially supernatural happenings in London's Highgate Cemetery. Instead, Farrant kicked off a moral panic over vampires, ghosts, and all manner of occult activities that featured prominently in the pages of British newspapers for years. Farrant's letter received a few responses from others who claimed to have had their own supernatural experiences in Highgate Cemetery, but the story would likely have ended there had it not been for Sean Manchester. A self-proclaimed occultist and vampire hunter, Manchester claimed that what Farrant had seen at Highgate was in fact a vampire, and moreover, the cemetery itself was the site of ongoing black masses, vampire gatherings, and other dark practices. Soon, a rivalry developed between Farrant and Manchester over who had the power to eradicate the supernatural threat at Highgate and just weeks after Farrant sent his letter to the newspapers, Manchester led a large mob of Londoners into Highgate Cemetery intent on driving out the evil that supposedly swelled there.Throughout the early 1970s, the war of words between Farrant and Manchester frequently captured the public's attention, thanks to the various news outlets that couldn't resist the outrageous actions of the two men that ranged from benign and silly (a naked fire dance in an abandoned building) to gruesome and disrespectful (desecration of human remains). However, while the antics of the two men at the center of the story may elicit a smirk or an eyeroll, the public's response to the supposed supernatural threat provides valuable insight into a phenomenon of moral panic that go on to fuel, among other things, the satanic panic that dominated the news throughout the 1980s and 90s.
