Horrible, chaotic, “how did your vacation get here?” art.Unfortunately, the airline conversation takes a much darker turn with the story surrounding longtime Wheel of Fortune announcer Jim Thornton. According to the details discussed on the show, another passenger noticed disturbing messages on his laptop during a flight, photographed the screen and alerted the crew. Date, time, weight—we're crunching numbers like ESPN analysts covering the birth of an eight-pound free agent.Rizz is also back after Mohs surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma from underneath his eye, and the procedure was a little more involved than expected. Multiple rounds of cutting, repeated needles directly into an extremely sensitive part of his face, ten stitches and enough swelling to make his return to work look like the aftermath of an underground fight club. He also addresses the listener who thought he was taking too many days off, because apparently “having cancer cut out of my face” still requires a note for some people.Then St. Louis enters the chat. Hidden behind its unassuming gates just off the Sunset Strip, it became a sanctuary for some of the biggest names in music—a place where artists could escape the spotlight, create, recover, celebrate, and occasionally indulge in a little rock 'n' roll debauchery. David Markey is a resilient and resourceful filmmaker who has sustained a truly independent career in the shadow of Hollywood and against the backdrop of corporate America for over four decades. As a self-taught filmmaker and musician, Markey brings together underground music, experimental cinema and contemporary culture in a direct and insightful way. His unique take on pop culture and sometimes dark wit are also present throughout his work, the majority of which has been self-funded and distributed.His films include the acclaimed documentary "1991: The Year Punk Broke" (1992) and the Los Angeles Punk Super-8 cult classics "The Slog Movie" (1982), "Desperate Teenage Lovedolls" (1984), and the sequel "Lovedolls Superstar" (1986) which were all produced before he was of legal age. Nevermind changed everything. Music, fashion, pop culture and Nirvana lead singer, guitar player and songwriter, Kurt Cobain became the voice of a generation. The band included underrated bassist Krist Novoselic and new hard hitting drummer and future leader of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl. Nevermind was Nirvana's 2nd studio album was produced by Butch Vig. It made it to #1 on Billboard album charts and eventually went 13 times platinum and sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. The album broke the grunge movement and was partially responsible for killing "hair metal." The album has been awarded numerous accolades and along with its first single and video, which is the poster child for the 1990's and grunge, "Smells Like Teen Spirit. This was the Tom's pick.
