Guy Talks to Owner Tricia La Belle and manager Dave Brooker of the Sportsman's Inn located in Kernville CA. Tricia's Bio: From Newtown Connecticut, at the age of 22 I met a musician from Los Angeles and felt the desire to move to California in search of success myself, I struggled with modeling and finding a legit fashion scene at the time as runway was my thing. I started a services company called Perfection Services where I did everything from Script Reading to cleaning homes. I then picked up a job as a messenger and driver while I went to college seeking a degree in law. Then I met another guy who got me involved in event promotions and my life took a wild turn after we broke up, I started my own event in a Hollywood nightclub in 1998 called Bar Sinister that is a world renowned alternative club today I ended up buying the club and today own Dave's on Broadway in Glendale, Boardners of Hollywood, Bar Sinister, Bon Vivant Market & Cafe in Atwater Village and The Sportsman's Saloon in Kernville and place that I have been coming to for its epic beauty, white water rafting, hiking, camping and star gazing. So in love with the area as it allowed me some of the pleasures I enjoyed as a kid back in Ct. I sat as president of the Kern River Conservancy for 5 years and am continually proud of what KRC has done for this magnificent river! As a business owner with over 150 employees I am also actively involved in the communities I serve, I sit on the Kernville Chamber, president of The Greater Los Angeles Hospitality Association, Cal Nightlife and I once served on the Hollywood Central Park Board and Hollywood Central Neighborhood council. My businesses, my incredible staff and my customers are my passion along with my two cavapoos Whisky & Disco, I love to ski, raft, hike, travel, cook and eat food, drink beverages made with love!  Dave's Bio: Grew up in Newtown Ct > Spent 8 years caddying on The LPGA and Ladies European golf tours > Caddymaster at Lochinvar GC Houston Tx > Toured as a technician with several pop/rock bands through the mid 2000's > Resident Caretaker at Holcombe Hill Nature Preserve in Newtown, Ct from 2014-2023 > Manager of The Sportsman's Inn Kernville > Tricia and I grew up together in Newtown, Ct. Hail Mary already had a cult following, but now that Barris and his team have taken over, they've changed very little (just the sauce), keeping the same all-natural starter intact and employing four different flours. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pizzacity/support

Yonette Alleyne is the lovely woman behind Caribbean Gourmet. When she was young at home in Guyana, she found what she loved to do early in life. She asked her mother for a cookbook for her 11th birthday and has been cooking, baking, and refining her talent ever since. In Guyana, she had run her own business, and she knew she had the skills to survive. Her skills had come from her own mother and grandmother, as Yonette had assisted her grandmother in the kitchen making peppermint candies, jams, jellies, cakes and pastries. When Yonette and her family moved to Los Angeles she found it to be a bit of a new challenge after being a business owner in control of her own fate. After nine months of searching and applying for jobs, Yonette worked as a cake decorator at a Los Angeles supermarket. Within nine months of working that job, she became a manager and began training others, staying for nine years and then becoming a bakery manager at another location for five years. In 2015, Yonette started her business at the Farmers' Markets in Los Angeles. She was at Crenshaw/Baldwin Hills and Atwater Village. Her business started with a variety of handmade Caribbean pastries and fruit drinks. After about six months in business, she slowly added a variety of hot food dishes as customers requested.Yonette grew their Instagram following by posting regularly and showcasing hard to find Caribbean dishes. At the beginning of the pandemic, the Farmers' Markets were closed for a little while. Being mainly a family business, she decided to offer meals delivery. She would cook, pre-pack and delivery the food for a small fee in about a 35 mile radius. In December of 2021, Yonette opened her first brick and mortar location in the Blossom Market Food Hall in the City of San Gabriel. That was one of her dreams by opening her own restaurant. She gets so much support by longtime and new customers and she is enjoying this new experience.Today, she has many loving followers who will travel far to get her special food featuring Caribbean favorites like oxtail stew, jerk chicken, chicken curry, vegan curry, beef and turkey patties, and pastries baked from scratch.____________________Music CreditsIntroLike it Loud, Dyalla, YouTube Audio LibraryOutroIndecision, Dyalla, YouTube Audio Library__________________SGV Master Key Podcast:www.sgvmasterkey.cominfo@sgvmasterkey.com
