** TRIGGER WARNING ** This conversation contains discussion around Trauma during and after giving birth, as well as my guest's experience of PTSD. Please prioritise looking after your mental and emotional wellbeing as a priority before listening to this episode. It was a pleasure to welcome Caroline Marshall to the pod, who is a Mum of 2 boys, the founder of a multi award winning Virtual Assistant Agency Upsource and podcast host of the show ‘Bump to Business owner'. In this episode Caroline shares how she coped and adapted following a series of unexpected curveballs in her life and career, culminating with the most shocking and unexpected eventuality of all when her second child suddenly became seriously unwell immediately after he was born, requiring a prolonged stay in NICU (the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in the middle of the pandemic. Thankfully Caroline's son made a full recovery. But, this Traumatic event and experience as a NICU Mum has understandably had a profound effect on Caroline's outlook on the world, mental health and how she has subsequently gone on to 'do her thing' in life, business, relationships and motherhood.During our conversation Caroline bravely shares the details of this life-changing experience, including the steps she took to grieve, process, adapt and heal following her Trauma. And the space we created also gave me permission to share the details of my own difficult birth experience with my first child, which also involved a stay in NICU, and which I only began processing in the last couple years. This is a vulnerable and powerful conversation which I'm so grateful to Caroline for having with me. And I hope her words offer hope and strength to anyone navigating the aftermath of their own traumatic experience right now, and help listeners feel better resourced to support loved ones who may be struggling.
