S3 E3 Après All Day | Mountain Mixer In this episode of Après All Day, Bob and Rich head to Park City—at least in spirit—for the inaugural Mountain Mixer cocktail contest. The event brings together the top ten cocktails from a month-long, undercover judging process, culminating in a high-energy showdown at Deer Valley's Silver Lake Lodge on August 21. Bob and Rich welcome Executive Director Ginger Wicks of the Park City Area Restaurant Association, plus, two finalists - Leeham Bridgham from High West Distillery and Megs Miller from The Brass Tag. Key Topics 1. Transforming a Contest for Transparency After last year's online cocktail contest was compromised by hacking, the Park City Area Restaurant Association reinvented the format. By bringing the Mountain Mixer live, with impartial, high-profile judges and a real-time audience vote, the event now offers credibility, excitement, and a dynamic, in-person experience that supports local bars and restaurants. 2. A Culinary Community that Works Together Ginger Wicks emphasizes Park City's rare spirit of collaboration, where competing restaurants help one another by sharing staffing resources and promoting the collective dining scene. This cooperation strengthens the area's culinary reputation and helps both visitors and locals enjoy a richer variety of experiences year-round. 3. The Artistry and Performance of Mixology In Mountain Mixer, taste is only half the battle—showmanship counts too. From the storytelling behind the drink to stage presence, bartenders must connect with both judges and audience. Finalists like Leeham and Megs illustrate how creativity, seasonal inspiration, and personal flair come together to create memorable cocktails and moments. Episode Index (3:32) Mountain Mixer format: Ten finalists face expert judges and live audience scoring in a performance-driven cocktail showdown. (7:54) Park City's collaborative culinary community: Restaurants work together, even sharing staff to keep the scene strong. (9:16) Live finale details: Music, food, and a stage where mixologists present their cocktails to Michelin-star and James Beard-level judges. (17:52) Seasonal creativity: Competitors tailor cocktails to seasonality, from dark, spirit-forward drinks to light, refreshing sours. (26:10) Personal style: Leeham and Meggs share their post-shift favorites, behind-the-scenes process, and approach to showmanship.

The finalists for the 2025 Diversity in Tech Awards (DITA) have been announced today. Taking place on Thursday, 19th September at 6:00 pm in a new location - the Gibson Hotel, Dublin - the event will gather over 300 guests to honour individuals and organisations leading the way in diversity, inclusion, and innovation across the tech sector. Now in its eighth year, DITA celebrates a broad spectrum of diversity - from gender and culture to disability and neurodiversity - and continues to spotlight the changemakers reshaping the tech industry for the better. This year saw more than 300 entries, with the Rising Star and Startup Visionary awards attracting the highest number of submissions. Claire Rushe, Executive Director Global Technology of JP Morgan and a member of the judging panel, said; "JP Morgan is thrilled to continue our partnership with the Diversity in Tech Awards in 2025. This year, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an environment where diverse perspectives drive innovation and opportunity. These awards honour the trailblazers who are making the tech industry more inclusive, aligning with our belief that technology thrives when every voice is heard and valued. This is an opportunity to recognise those who think outside the box, driving ingenuity and progress through diverse insights. By supporting these awards, we not only honour the groundbreaking strides being made but also reinforce our commitment to fostering a tech landscape where bold ideas and inclusive thinking lead the way." Clare Kilmartin, COO of the Diversity in Tech Awards, added, "The 2025 finalists represent the very best of what our industry has to offer - bold thinkers, brilliant innovators, and inclusive leaders who are breaking down barriers in every direction. These awards are a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we create space for all talent to thrive. I look forward to celebrating them in style this September." 2025 Diversity in Tech Awards Finalists Cultural Inclusion Award EPAM Systems Fiserv Integral Ad Science LearnUpon MEG Rewriting the Code SHEIN DE&I Special Initiative Recognition Access Avenue Datapac JP Morgan TiLT Role-Play Limited Yahoo International Limited DE&I Support Network of the Year BearingPoint EPAM Systems ESB Limit Break Logitech DE&I Excellence in Leadership Datapac Indeed JP Morgan Yahoo International Limited Disability Inclusion Award Access Avenue EPAM Systems ESB Nexus Inclusion Diverse Company of the Year Award BearingPoint Cognizant Datapac Fastrack into Information Technology (FIT) Oracle EMEA Ltd. It's time to narrow the 141 entries in the Non-Book Review Contest to about a dozen finalists. I can't read 141 reviews alone, so I need your help. Please pick as many as you have time for, read them, and rate them using this form. Don't read them in order! If you read them in order, I'll have 1,000 votes on the first review, 500 on the second, and so on to none in the second half. Either pick a random review (thanks to Taymon for making a random-review-chooser script here) or scroll through the titles until you find one that catches your interest - you can see individual entries here (thanks to a reader for collating them): Other (A - I) Other (J - S) Other (T - Z) Games Music TV/Movies Again, the rating form is here. Thanks! You have until June 20, when I'll count the votes and announce the finalists. https://readscottalexander.com/posts/acx-choose-nonbook-review-finalists-2025
