They say good-bye to an NBA legend. Oh, yeah no he didn't die...yet. He's just really old and will stop doing broadcast soon. Kris thinks Russell Wilson ruined young QBs. Then at the end a not so brief segment picking week 16 NFL games. Merry F'in Xmas to those who care.

Moms–do you get stressed by all the family obligations around the holidays but also feel bad telling your mom or mother-in-law ‘no'? This podcast episode is for YOU! They talk about: Doing a tradition inventory at the beginning of each holiday season, asking yourself, “Am I doing this for me or for someone else?” and “Does this bring me joy?” Ditching everything that does not bring you joy or that feels too much for you (and letting it be ok that this is different every year) Making new family traditions with your partner Setting boundaries with family members out of love for yourself Letting go of the compare and despair game. Amanda does Christmas in a different way than Ryann, and BOTH are correct. What do you want to say f*ck it to this holiday season? “These are the times that try men's souls.” This is the story of a Christmas Miracle at Trenton, New Jersey. George Washington's army is exhausted, disheartened, battered, starving, freezing–all but broken. Sir William Howe's mighty British Army has chased these American soldiers out of New York, New Jersey, and now, across the ice-filled Delaware River into Pennsylvania. Worse still for the Patriots, the British have captured Continental General General Charles Lee and scared Congress into fleeing Philadelphia. The Revolution appears all but defeated. But George isn't ready to accept defeat. The Founding Father has made a list, checked it twice, and decided that the Hessian troops in Trenton have been naughty … neither patriot nor loyalist will soon forget Christmas of 1776. ___ 2 Ways to dive deeper into History That Doesn't Suck Join our growing facebook community Become part of the HTDS Patreon family Learn more about your ad choices. Ok, I’m going to share 4 Sanity Savings Tips for the Holidays, so you don’t lose your shit while trying to juggle buying presents while working, getting dinner prepared, and caring for your loved one with a mental illness! For many of us, we’re excited about the holidays and the new year celebrations. A lot of you will be getting all gussied up to go to parties or have people over because we couldn’t really do that last year with covid. But it can also be a tricky too, right? You’re cringing thinking, “Uncle Freaky Fred is coming over. God, he’s gross. I know he’s going to get drunk and say stupid shit. But I’m excited to hang with all my cousins.” Whatever your thought process is. My name is April Norris. I created the podcast Of Course, They Make Me Crazy! It’s for those who love someone with a mental illness. This time of year can be tricky for all of us. There’s a lot of emotions floating around like pretty little snowflakes. But those snowflakes can turn into a blizzard – a shit storm. The holiday hustle and bustle can trigger those living with bipolar, schizophrenia and depression. Many of you already know that I grew up with a bipolar mom addicted to pain pills. She loved Christmas when I was younger. She would put the tree up early. It was decorated like something you would see in the Christmas Hallmark movies. All of us kids had to have the same number of gifts to open, and our presents looked like they were professionally wrapped. She beamed while baking and decorating Christmas cookies with us. Then as she got sicker, her holiday sparkle dulled. Our full family tree was replaced with a tiny one because she didn’t have the energy to decorate anymore. The worst part is she would become manic anticipating all of us coming home for the holidays. She wouldn’t sleep for days leading up to our arrival. When we all got there, she would crash. One year she locked herself upstairs in a bedroom and didn’t come out at all, expect to kiss us goodbye. My brother and I came in from out of state. My dad had to take her up a plate of food. It was like feeding a bear, he placed the plate down and quickly closed the door so he wouldn’t get growled at. It was confusing because I would have conversations with her on the phone prior thinking, “Mom sounds great. She’s alert and seems excited to see us. She might just have her Christmas spirit back this year.” I always held onto hope. To make matters worse because her nerves were on edge, she took more medication thinking that would help. And, that issue became a fight between her and my dad. Merry F-ing Christmas! A National Alliance on Mental Illness study shows 64% of people with a mental illness report holidays make their condition worse. 1 in 25 Americans lives with a serious mental illness. That means there is added stress for all their family and friends. Their caregivers need support too! So, lets dive into these tips with jingle bells on! Reminder, they don’t intend to hurt you even though it feels like it. We all have emotions, but theirs are on another spectrum. Did my mom NOT come out of the bedroom because she hates her kids and wanted us to feel unloved? No. We should remind ourselves that they’re experiencing extreme mood disorders. They’re struggling more with themselves than they are with you. They live in fear … so do we because we worry about them. They have a lot of feelings around guilt, shame, and hopelessness. It’s not easy for any of us. Apply that old saying that works so well in this scenario… hurt p

RadioPublic|LibSyn|YouTube|Patreon|Square Cash (Share code: Send $5, get $5! David Waldman, opens today’s KITM yawning like the MGM lion, waking us up for Christmas eve: Donald Trump keeps handing out pardons like moist candy canes to anyone that met him under the mistletoe over the last few years. Donald pardoned Jesse Benton as a gift to his employers, Ron Paul and Mitch McConnell and the uncle of Benton's wife, Rand Paul… (Jesse will probably be Matt Gaetz’ son by the end of the day.) Trump pardoned a former Maryland police officer whose heart he knew was in the right place. (They need to be arrested faster than Trump can pardon them.) Merry Christmas! Trump’s Blackwater pardons aren’t bringing much cheer to their victim’s families, however. There’s bound to be more today, but Dad’s saving the nicest ones for under the tree in Mar-a-Lago. Greg Dworkin reminds us that actually, Donald Trump doesn’t give gifts to anyone but himself. If he can take someone else’s gift, it’s even better. Merry F***ing Christmas to everyone in Congress with the Gop at each other’s throats and Democrats trying to pull $2000 checks out of the fireplace. It seems that Trump might be a little over his head still on how government works, or how reality works for that matter. Kelly Loeffler, too. Two Republican House members voted by proxy — while simultaneously suing to ban the use of proxy voting . Ron DeSantis figures, why appoint experts when he can be the guy that says expert things? Rep.-elect Luke Letlow checked himself into the hospital for no particular reason, and is now thinking about checking out the ICU for the holidays. People who are immunocompromised or otherwise allow coronavirus to hang around for while might encourage unfortunate mutations. Did Bill Barr arrest Lev Parnas to keep him from testifying against Donald Trump? Did a Democratic House candidate lose by 6 votes after 22 votes were improperly excluded in Iowa? Did the Kansas City Star misreport on Black Kansas Citians for generations? Yes.
Explicit Warning! This episode contains strong language and is recommended for mature listeners. For the last episode of 2020, we segue seamlessly from Bucky Barnes to another iconic comics antihero, Buddy Bradley, with a discussion of five stories featuring the Bradley clan from Peter Bagge's 1980s anthology Neat Stuff, published by Fantagraphics Books! Specifically, we dive deep into “Rock ‘n' Roll Refugee,” “Mom Power,” “Sneakin' a Peek at Babs Bradley's Secret Diary,” “Hippy House,” and “Merry F—king Christmas.” (A sixth story that was announced last episode, “You're Not the Boss of Me,” was cut for time.) In these stories and others, Bagge presents a typical '80s suburban family in all its dysfunctional glory, laying the groundwork for the likes of Married ... With Children and The Simpsons. But Bagge balances the caustic family dynamics with faithful depictions of the teenage experience and explorations of such issues as religion and the plight of the working suburban mom, employing a wonderfully expressive and exaggerated cartooning style influenced by MAD Magazine and Looney Tunes shorts, among others. Will Buddy ever stop being such an a—hole? And will the Bradleys be invited into that nuclear family known as ... The Comics Canon? We are the night! By that I mean we are three guys that just happen to review movies usually at night for your listening pleasure. This week as we continue our Merry F!@#ing Xmas theme of jolly episodes, we review the 1992 super hero flick, Batman Returns starring Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer and Danny DeVito directed by Tim Burton. In this outing the caped crusader is back as he takes on The Penguin and Catwoman as they wreak havoc on the city of Gotham during the holiday season all the while Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) is doing is own evil bidding in the city.Is this a holiday film you may ask? Of course it is! I mean there’s snow on the ground, they light up a giant Christmas tree in Gotham Square, people have presents and people are wishing one another happy holidays. For a sequel, and for a superhero sequel to boot, the movie does a wonderful job on many levels. You get to see the origins of not just one but TWO coveted villains of Batman lore with the bonus of seeing them very well portrayed on the big screen. Next up the story is well written to where it’s not drawn out and keeps you entertained from beginning to end and lastly, Keaton dons the cowl once again for a superb performance as the dark knight.Put on your rubber suit (without bat nipples), grab the batarang, and strap in to the batmobile as we go full thrust on this episode.
"These are the times that try men's souls." This is the story of the Battle of Trenton. George crosses another ice-filled river, this time on Christmas Day. Plenty will go wrong, but at the end of it... he's about to get off the naughty list.

Jingle bells, batman smells, Sinbad cracks a joke, and Arnie saves the day hey! As we continue our Merry F@#&ing Xmas we take a trip down that good ole holiday memory lane as we review 1996s Jingle All The Way starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. In this wacky outing Arnie trades his machine guns for candy canes. After letting his son Jaime (played by Jake Lloyd, future Anakin Skywalker) down numerous times by letting work get in the way, he goes for the Hail Mary to make it up to him by getting the season’s hottest toy, the Turbo Man action figure while trying to get it on the worst day of shopping, Christmas Eve.As long as you take the movie as it is, which at the core it’s simply just a holiday comedy for kids, then you won’t be disappointed. If you try to take it serious by any means then you are most definitely setting yourself up for a letdown. I have no clue as to why you would even remotely try to take this film seriously when Arnold punches out a reindeer followed by having a beer with it in the back yard!So sit back with a cup of hot cocoa, some fresh baked cookies, find your Christmas spirit and have a listen.
Looks like we’ll have to register this episode as awesome! As we kick off our Merry F@!king Xmas with the bros this month with holiday themed movies we pick a movie that doesn’t get as much recognition as a Christmas movie and honestly I have no clue as to why. This week leading off our MFX month we go with the 1987 film Lethal Weapon starring Mel Gibson, and Danny Glover. Perhaps one of the best buddy cop movies around. Danny Glover stars as Det. Roger Murtaugh who after finding out the daughter of an old friend is murdered he gets teamed up with fresh transfer and newly assigned partner Det. Martin Riggs who everyone thinks has a death wish. As they dig deeper in their investigation it leads them down a rabbit hole filled with guns, explosions and heroin in Los Angeles. This is such a great movie on so many levels, from cinematography, acting and script it’s fantastic from start to finish. Directed by Richard Donner (the whole Lethal Weapon franchise, Superman, The goonies) and written by Shane Black (The Last Boy Scout, The Nice Guys) the movie has no doubt the sense of Hollywood flare to it but it also has the gritty authentic elements of real life thrown in for good measure. Furthermore how can you not forget its status of being solidified in cinema history with a release during one of the best summers at the box office in the glorious year of 1987.Kick back with a beer, a three stooges marathon, and possibly a Beretta under the ole Christmas tree and listen to this one.
Merry F*cking Christmas From Macron Part 2 – 12/25/16 Macron returns for another dumb Christmas Day show. This time featuring Ben Franklin and Mr. Cheeky himself. This year had very little to do with Christmas and was mostly about calling up restaurants on Christmas day and wasting a lot of people's time. This show features lots of restaurant calls as well as some hotels and a surprise call from InkedGoddess! Happy Christmas and shut the f*ck up now! - Love Macron
Summary: The lads discuss the art of giving gifts. Dan of course being the master of it. In the Studio: Dan Ken Critter Cocktail du Jour: Wassail - 2 quarts apple cider - 2 cups orange juice - 1/2 cup lemon juice - 12 whole cloves - 4 cinnamon sticks - 1 pinch ground ginger - 1 pinch ground nutmeg In a slow-cooker or a large pot over low heat, combine apple cider, orange juice and lemon juice. In this episode we will discuss our society's obsession with female sexuality, from glorifying one's so-called virginity, to slut shaming women for being sexual outside of a relationship or marriage. GOD JUL!!!
