Today's episode of Drunk Women Solving Crime sees a very capable detective join the force in the form of mystery crime writer Emma Flint! Emma tells us how an incident she was privy to in early life ignited her career as crime author before the gang then chip away at a case where nothing is set in stone. As always, we hear from a listener and this time the story definitely doesn't have a PG rating! This episode also marks the end of an era, as we say au revoir to the one and only Catie Wilkins, aka our very own Detective Sasshole. After five and a half years and almost 400 solved cases, Catie is handing in her badge and leaving the force. Although we'll see her again for the odd freelance shift, so don't despair. In the meantime, Taylor, Hannah, and Producer Amanda wishes her every success and all the sass in the world. We love the London Podcast Festival — held every year at our spiritual home of Kings Place, London — so much that this year we did not one, but TWO podcasts there. The first, aka The Artist Also Known As Episode 581, is already up for your listening pleasure, but we're very excited and proud to bring you the second, which is the mash-up episode the Empire Podcast team — Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara, and James Dyer — recorded with the brilliant ladies of the Drunk Women Solving Crime podcast. That's a pod, if you haven't guessed, in which a group of women — Taylor Glenn, Hannah George, and Catie Wilkins — solve crime. While drunk (mostly). So, naturally, we were the only choice to team up with them for the LPF, given that Chris and Helen are teetotal, and James only drinks to forget. Anyway, we had a simply lovely time with the Drunk Women gang, solving a true-life Hollywood crime, suggesting our own entries for Worst Movie Crime, and then helping to crack the case of an audience member or two. It was raucous, hilarious, and features the best Jennifer Coolidge impression this side of... well, of Jennifer Coolidge. Enjoy.

The other showbiz couple we celebrate was nominated by our guests, who aren't fortunate to have lived in such wedded bliss, it's that big. hot mess that was Paul McCartney and Heather Mills! Yes, like a warm bath for the brain, we get to immerse ourselves in a simpler time, a time when David Blaine watched the unimpressed faces of Londoners from a perspex box, when sex manuels were in print rather than online, and when courtroom dramas were existed without Twitter. #327 Double Robert Boris - Richard has some serious questions about Gio Compario from the Go Compare adverts and is also surprised to see online that he is currently single. That might make things awkward this week as he’s chatting to his (ex?) wife Catherine Wilkins. Will he find out anything he didn’t already know? And will it change things now that he’s back in the same room as his guest? They discuss whether porn films have it right about pizza delivery, writing a book whilst doing working at another job, how to convince men to do hoovering (and more), whether diarrhoea is a subject fit for a family circular, how Catie nearly committed murder, if she will leave her husband for a woman or have him replaced with a robot. Plus how is she worth so much more than Richard? It’s the flirtiest podcast he’s done since last week with Anneka Rice. Come and see RHLSTP live (or watch online) at the Clapham Grand. 2012 #2:1 This Year's Lost Podcast, The bootleg. @red_scamp had so little faith in my technical abilities that they illegally bootlegged it. Lucky for you they did. This is what it sounds like recorded from a distance, without the Dalek voices. This is where you find out that we just started speaking like Daleks in the 17th minute anyway!
2012 #2: This Year's Lost Podcast - Peacock and Gamble, Naughty Keith and Catie Wilkins - A double podcast disaster as the through the desk recording of the podcast goes haywire and the back up on the phone also goes wrong after 16 mins. We're left with a post car crash attempt to splice the two together (unless someone from the audience comes forward with a bootleg) - the first 16 mins are fine (you'll even hear a bit of the dressing room banter at the start) but then it goes into full, probably unlistenable Dalek mode, where only the brave and foolhardy will want to progress. You will get to hear about the changes at the TEMPT NG TATTIE and the strange audience arrangement were one man sits in the light in the front row whilst others skulk in the darkness and about the love across the generations between Margaret and Harry, but then you will need an ear of strength to hear anything else. Which is a shame as you'll miss Naughty Keith and his thoughts on Stewart Lee and a brilliant set from Catie Wilkins (who we will have on another day) and lots more inappropriate fun. Maybe you'll persist. Good luck. From now on the Tascam will be utilised as a back-up so this shouldn't be a problem. This is why you must come to the live shows if you can.
Here it is, almost live from The Stand comedy club in Edinburgh. The very first RHEFP (rhefp), a daily podcast keeping you up to date with all the Fringe gossip and hot and not shows. Plus loads of stupid banter with a top comedy guest (or in this case Michael 'Nerrin' Legge). It's the first try so sorry if the sound is a bit uneven - we tried to record it with the Tascam but some audience interaction sent that smashing to the floor and so this is the version recorded through the desk, and I think Michael might have forgotten to speak into his microphone. Because he is a dick. Or the balance might have been off. But let's blame Michael. We talk about foam pies and pizzas in eyes and Twitter threats, as well as finding out which made-up shows the audience have already seen. There's stand-up from Catie Wilkins and a competition in which you will find out Rasputin's phone number and who Michael may or may not be cat-sitting for. Plus tales of Hunter from Gladiators and being wanked off by a ventriloquist dummy (not the same story). And someone won 50 in cash.
