As well as Steph sharing an epic crime story that felt more like a film Bruce Willis might star in, the gang also charge their glasses while solving a caper centred around the heady world of whisky, and while they may not have completely solved this week's listener crime, they definitely didn't make it worse. PLUS, as it's a very special occasion, there's a surprise in store for Taylor and Hannah, so keep listening until the end to hear a medley of 'friends of the show' send their congratulations and share their love of all things Drunk Women Solving Crime, one of the voices has a particularly 'sassy' quality to it (full list of names below, and you'll be able to SEE all the messages soon on our Patreon) Most of all, the whole DWSC crew, past and present, would like to say a huge thanks to YOU, because without you, there wouldn't be a show, as doing this might be a bit weird if you weren't joining in too.... so THANK YOU to all the detectives out there, and here's to the next 300! Hannah George, Sustainability Coordinator at SWG3  joins Earth Care for episode 4 of the Sustainability in the Live Music Industry series.  SWG3 is one of Scotland's busiest venues and welcomes 250,000 guests yearly. In 2021, SWG3 began their substantial shift towards net-zero. With the help of Stance, they began measuring the carbon footprint from their operation to better understand their environmental impact. The team then used that data to develop a baseline that allows them to continuously move the sustainability needle.  In 2022, SWG3 introduced a form of renewable energy that no other venue had tapped into, BODYHEAT. Since then, SWG3 has been powering music gigs and live events thanks to energy generated by all of the venue's visitors. The venue's mission to keep dancing, keep working, keep creating, while operating in a responsible way that recognizes the seriousness of the climate crisis.  In this episode, Hannah discusses the venue's journey to becoming net-zero and the various sustainability initiatives SWG3 has implemented. She explains the BODYHEAT technology and shares how long it took the venue to create it. We also learn about SWG3's reusable cup system, the circular swap shop, the active travel initiative, and their plans for reducing touring emissions. Hannah emphasizes the importance of collaboration and communication within the live music industry to drive sustainability efforts.  MORE FROM SARAH: Take the FREE #FansChooseToReuse pledge here and commit to reducing plastic bottle pollution at live music events! But, it's not Men's Month, we hear those of you who are listening to this on release in February 2024 cry.... Yes, true, but Toby Williams isn't any old man, he's an actor, writer AND he married and impregnated our very own Hannah George, so it's actually well overdue that we hear from Mr HG himself. And what better occasion for him to grace the stage than when DWSC was live at the Ventnor Fringe, Hannah's home town on the Isle of Wight. As well as Toby confessing some criminal activity that could well see his marriage on the rocks (being 8 years old is NO excuse), the team also delves into a local crime proving that despite its twee image, the Isle of Wight is a hotbed of vice. We finish proceedings by hearing from somebody in the audience about a crime which originates in Taylor's homeland, which distracted her from the urge to climb-up the rigging of the tent at least! This episode was released in the darkest days of winter, BUT it was actually recorded back in the heady days of summer when Taylor, Catie and Hannah took to the stage for one of their infamous DWSC residency shows in London, in which they achieved the impossible and split apart comedy double act (and real-life sisters) Flo and Joan - aka Nicola and Rosie Dempsey. You can now hear show one of that night, when Nicola (Flo) joined the ladies on stage to recount the time she stood next to a crime, which involved a celebrity friend and saw first-hand how the police reacted to the famous prey. The team then dive straight into a story which has all the hallmarks of a tale you couldn't make up - and will confirm your lack of even the most basic of survival skills. We then hear from an audience member whose crime story is a hard one for anyone to follow and had a sticky start rather than a sticky end.Next week, it's part two of this Flo and Joan double bill, when you'll hear what happened when Rosie Dempsey joined the force, and helped solve a crime which straddles the stomping grounds of our very own Hannah George. In this episode of our “Inside Health Care” podcast, we hear two interviews that each demonstrate how close we are to solving the challenges of health disparities and digital transformation. Our first interview finds a real-life, “Last Mile” solution that will bring historically under-served populations to the health care services they need and deserve. Our second interview reveals how improved efficiencies in digitalization actually make it easier to add even more data – and more data crunching – into the mix. PHIT4DC stands for the Public Health Informatics and Technology for the District of Columbia Workforce Diversification Program. PHIT4DC brings together public health programs at two HBCUs—historically Black Colleges and Universities—namely, the University of the District of Columbia and Howard University. Together, these esteemed institutions train professionals from historically under-served neighborhoods in 21st-century IT knowledge and skills so they can return to their neighborhoods and give back to their communities.PHIT4DC trains PCMH professionals in order to send them to work in and support their hometown communities and neighborhoods. It's a powerful solution for bridging the gap in health equity provision. And it's probably possible to set up this model in any U.S. city. But, as you can imagine, it's no small feat. Dr. Mary Awuonda currently serves as an Associate Professor and Director of the Center of Excellence at the Howard University College of Pharmacy. In her directorship role, she helps the College advance its health care workforce diversification mission and student academic success initiatives. She is published in the areas of minority health, health disparities, health outcomes research and workforce diversification. Hannah George is a health care consultant with years of service across the health care industry. She's been a college professor/mentor for nursing students and director of nursing for multiple home health agencies in the District of Columbia. She's worked on multiple health care research protocols and served as senior clinical lead on multiple projects and initiatives. Hannah is certified in Project Management, is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).Digitalization ensures the safe and efficient transfer and parsing of health care data between providers. Patients benefit, clinics benefit, clinicians can spend more time with patients. And improvements in data transfer and parsing reveal more population data than ever before, which uncovers gaps in health equity. And with that population data, researchers can start to reverse deficiencies and ensure better health care for all.Josh Hetler is Chief Operations Officer at DataLink and an expert in the potential revelations of supplemental data. Josh has over a decade of experience developing software products for advancing value-based health care. At DataLink, he's held management, director and vice president positions, successfully building strategies that impact customer adoption and engagement. Josh was interviewed live and in person at NCQA's 2nd annual Health Innovation Summit, in October 2023 in Orlando, Florida.

We love the London Podcast Festival — held every year at our spiritual home of Kings Place, London — so much that this year we did not one, but TWO podcasts there. The first, aka The Artist Also Known As Episode 581, is already up for your listening pleasure, but we're very excited and proud to bring you the second, which is the mash-up episode the Empire Podcast team — Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara, and James Dyer — recorded with the brilliant ladies of the Drunk Women Solving Crime podcast. That's a pod, if you haven't guessed, in which a group of women — Taylor Glenn, Hannah George, and Catie Wilkins — solve crime. While drunk (mostly). So, naturally, we were the only choice to team up with them for the LPF, given that Chris and Helen are teetotal, and James only drinks to forget. Anyway, we had a simply lovely time with the Drunk Women gang, solving a true-life Hollywood crime, suggesting our own entries for Worst Movie Crime, and then helping to crack the case of an audience member or two. It was raucous, hilarious, and features the best Jennifer Coolidge impression this side of... well, of Jennifer Coolidge. Enjoy.

Oh, what a night.... well, it was the final show at this year's Edinburgh Fringe, and thank goodness the brilliant comic, Thenjiwe was there to share it with us!As this was the last night without our very own Hannah George, it was also the last occasion our newest, brightest member of the force, Ruth Bratt acted as stand in.The team would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Ruth for stepping in at incredibly short notice, and for being such amazing member of the gang. The only way we can better this is to get Ruth back on one of the live shows with Taylor, Catie AND Hannah all in attendance. Thank you so much Ruth, you are officially the chief of police and a drunk woman who can indeed solve crimes. We were also blessed that guest, Thenjiwe, was not only being an incredible detective, but also proved she had the Monopoly when it comes to crime solving skills, which helped an enormous amount with getting to the bottom of a story which was more than a trunk than a case. We finally heard from a member of the audience, whose criminal story was a bunch of pants - and we mean that in the nicest possible way. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It’s Episode 91! Joining us to review the 2017 documentary Out of Thin Air are returning guests Taylor (her choice) and Hannah from Drunk Women Solving Crime. Out of Thin Air mixes interviews and dramatisation to investigate the mystery surrounding the disappearances of Guðmundur Einarsson and Geirfinnur Einarsson in 1974 in Iceland and the subsequent arrests and imprisonments of six suspects, at which point things are definitely not what they seem. The story itself the perfect true crime stuff, two people disappear and to this day have never been found. The suspects are arrested, some of them have shady backgrounds and (despite little evidence) are convicted and then the twist, in 2013 a report brought forward the motion to retrial the suspects. This documentary, however, fails to really capture the mystery and intrigue and it ends up being a bit confusing and at worst, quite boring. True crime fans will probably enjoy this as would anyone who remembers the case but as a piece of documentary cinema, it doesn’t deliver the goods. Scores  [supsystic-tables id=94] Flixwatcher and guests were mostly in agreement about Out of Thin Air and despite some of its weaknesses it still scored 3.25 overall. It’s Episode 82! Drunk Women Solving Crime (Hannah and Taylor) join us to review the 2017 documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond – Featuring a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton, Hannah’s choice. Jim & Andy is the result of several hours of filming Jim Carrey in ‘character’ behind the scenes on the set for the 1999 film Man on the Moon and Jim Carrey now ruminating on what happened literally and spiritually during the filming. This documentary was released by Netflix and the footage captured was allegedly wanted destroyed by Universal Pictures (who produced Man on the Moon) because they didn’t want people to think Jim Carrey was an asshole. You can begin to imagine what this documentary is like. Part car crash and part journey into the art involved in perfecting a performance, it’s also one mans tribute to a man he admired and occasionally imitated. Interesting, bizarre, intense and fascinating, it might be a documentary but it’s impossible to tell what is real and what is planned. Scores [supsystic-tables id='84'] There was a lot of love for both Jim AND Andy from Flixwatcher and guests, if there is one word to describe it, it is fascinating - as a documentary and a film - and rare for a documentary rewards with repeat viewings. Jim & Andy scores overall a very high 4.31, we recommend! What do you guys think? Have you seen Jim & Andy? What did you think? Please let us know in the comments below!
