Benny and Alex join BETOOTA TALKS to discuss their 5th and final album - what many critics are describing as a modern pub rock masterpiece, Ultra Dundee. After 15 years of gruelling tours, BAD//DREEMS have always been praised by the rest of Australia's long-suffering rock music scene for never mixing their words about the raw deal that artists receive from labels, streamers and venues. In this interview, the boys explain why they've kept at it. And how, while juggling families and real jobs, it has all been worth it when they pull together an album like this.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Following a challenge to Louisiana's congressional maps, the Supreme Court has made it "near-impossible" to overturn district lines on the grounds that they're racially discriminatory against African Americans. Now, southern states like Louisiana, Tennessee, and Alabama are racing to redraw their maps before the midterms. By 2028, more than half the Democrats in the solid south could be redistricted out of power.

This week's discussion centers on a Federal Reserve on pause but increasingly divided, as inflation data and geopolitical risks complicate the policy path. The team reviews a stronger‑than‑expected GDP reading, a PCE inflation uptick driven by energy prices, and what multiple FOMC dissents signal about rate expectations for the rest of 2026. They also cover Jerome Powell's last meeting as Fed Chair and what it means for the FOMC. They also examine how resilient earnings growth, particularly tied to AI investment and capital spending, is shaping market leadership. The conversation frames what these dynamics mean for positioning as investors balance policy uncertainty, elevated inflation risks, and continued pockets of economic strength. In 1971, with Jim Morrison facing the possibility of jail time, and after the band's producer quit, the Doors managed to rally themselves to create one of rock's all-time great albums. EPYSODE 79: Speech by Steamhammer. Guest: Louis Cennamo. Additional commentary by the Psychedelic Wizard, Uncle Herff. This week we delve into 1972's Speech, the final album by Steamhammer. A masterful blend of blues-rock, progressive textures, and psychedelic experimentation. Speech showcases the band at a creative peak during an adventurous time in British rock. With help from bassist Louis Cennamo, we learn how he achieved that unique sound never before heard. And get a load of this: with Louis' blessing, we were able to include snippets of a couple tracks from the "lost" Steamhammer album, Axis, the album recorded after Speech that has never been released. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to Steamhammer, this epysode offers a deep dive into one of the most underrated British rock albums of the decade. I hope you dig Speech as much as I do. - Farmer John ===CONNECT & SUPPORT=== Transport yourself into the realm of grooviness by supporting us on Patreon for as little as $2/month using this link --> patreon.com/FarmerJohnMusic Use this link to follow us on Facebook --> https://www.facebook.com/farmerjohnmusic/ Use this link to follow us on Instagram --> https://www.instagram.com/vinylrelics/ Use this link to follow us on TikTok --> https://www.tiktok.com/@vinylrelicspodcast Use this link to follow us on BlueSky --> https://bsky.app/profile/farmerjohnmusic.bsky.social And find us on X @VinylRelicsPod Email me @ farmerjohnmusic@gmail.com ===LINKS=== Steve Joliffe 2019 Interview with Red Octupus Media: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFpLnsg5ShM Buy Louis' book "Awake In The Dream" here: https://www.amazon.com/Awake-Dream-Spiritual-Diary-Rockstar/dp/1917056737 ===THE MUSIC=== Songs used in this Epysode, in order of appearance. Today's guest is a true rock icon. Simon Kirke is the powerhouse drummer and co-founder of two of the most influential bands in classic rock history—Free and Bad Company. From the raw, blues-driven energy of Free to the arena-filling success of Bad Company, Simon has lived a life that most musicians only dream about. And as you're about to hear, it all began with a simple toss of a coin.In this warm and revealing conversation, Simon takes us right back to his early days in London, chasing a dream against the odds. With a two-year ultimatum from his parents to make it as a drummer or go to university, Simon spent months doing odd jobs—until fate intervened. A chance decision led him to audition alongside the extraordinary guitarist Paul Kossoff—a meeting that would change everything.Together with Kossoff, singer Paul Rodgers and bassist Andy Fraser, Simon formed Free—a band that would go on to define an era. But success didn't come overnight. The group toured relentlessly, playing hundreds of gigs across the UK and Europe, honing their sound and building a loyal following before finally breaking through with the global smash hit All Right Now.Simon shares the fascinating story behind that song—born out of a disappointing gig and a desire to create something audiences could truly connect with. The result? One of the most enduring rock anthems of all time. But with success came pressure.Still in their teens, the members of Free suddenly found themselves catapulted onto the world stage. The demands of touring, the expectation to deliver another hit, and growing creative differences all took their toll. Simon speaks candidly about the band's struggles, the difficulty of following up such a massive success, and the heartbreaking impact of addiction on Paul Kossoff—casting a long shadow over the band's future. It's an honest and deeply human account of what happens when young musicians achieve fame before they're ready for it.Out of those challenges, however, came a new chapter.Simon and Paul Rodgers regrouped to form Bad Company, alongside guitarist Mick Ralphs and bassist Boz Burrell. This time, with stronger management and greater experience, the band hit the ground running—becoming the first act signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song label and going on to achieve massive global success.Simon reflects on why Bad Company worked where Free struggled—crediting maturity, better support, and a deeper understanding of the music business.Beyond the bands, Simon opens up about his evolution as a songwriter, his solo work, and his ongoing commitment to helping others through addiction recovery. It's a powerful reminder that even the biggest rock stars face very real challenges—and that resilience is often the key to longevity. This is a story of luck, talent, triumph, and loss… and ultimately, survival.Simon Kirke—drummer and co-founder of Free and Bad Company—joins Sandy Kaye to share the incredible story behind his legendary career. From the formation of Free and the global success of All Right Now, to the pressures of sudden fame and the band's heartbreaking breakup, Simon opens up about the highs and lows of life in one of rock's most influential bands. He also reveals how Bad Company was born, why it succeeded where Free struggled, and what it was like becoming one of the first acts signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song label. This is a fascinating, honest and deeply personal conversation about rock history, resilience, and the reality behind the music.

In Armen Davoudian's casually intimate poem “Coming Out of the Shower”, mother and son perform their morning routines in the small, shared space of their household's only bathroom. Cristiano Ronaldo BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.I'm Perplexity, not Biosnap AI. I'll provide you with recent developments about Cristiano Ronaldo based on the available search results.Cristiano Ronaldo's past few days have been marked by both professional setbacks and personal milestones. Most significantly, Al Nassr's unbeaten Saudi Pro League record came to an abrupt end on January 3rd with a devastating 3-2 loss to Al Ahli. According to BeIn Sports, the match saw Ivan Toney scoring a brace to put Al Ahli ahead 2-0, with Abdulelah Al Amri equalizing for Al Nassr before Merih Demiral scored the decisive goal in the 55th minute. The loss was particularly frustrating for Ronaldo, who had a rare off-night, struggling with tight marking and squandering a clear chance by blasting over the bar when inspiration was needed most. The aftermath proved nearly as dramatic as the match itself. World Soccer Talk reports that Merih Demiral, Ronaldo's former Juventus teammate, posted a viral AI-generated image mocking Al Nassr's loss, which sparked heated scenes after the final whistle. Ronaldo and João Félix were briefly involved in a confrontation with an Al Ahli official, though Al Nassr's sporting director later apologized to both players, explaining his emotional reaction stemmed from concern for goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al Sanbi. The timing stung given Ronaldo's pre-match confidence. According to World Soccer Talk, the Portuguese star had delivered an encouraging message on social media insisting the team was on the right path heading into 2026, making the defeat particularly embarrassing. Despite the loss, Al Nassr remains atop the Saudi Pro League table, though Al Hilal has closed to within two points with a game in hand.Looking ahead, Ronaldo faces uncertainty regarding his immediate schedule. World Soccer Talk indicates he'll experience a long break due to FIFA calendar requirements before his next Al Nassr match. On a broader scale, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has confirmed to AOL that the 2026 World Cup will definitely be his last major tournament before retirement.Off the pitch, Marca reports that Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez's anticipated wedding remains one of 2026's most eagerly awaited events, following their engagement announcement in August 2025, with an engagement ring valued between six and twelve million euros.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Cristiano Ronaldo BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Cristiano Ronaldo has spent the past few days quietly reshaping the final chapter of his career and his legacy far beyond the pitch. The most consequential move came with his announcement that he has become an investor and global ambassador for the rapidly growing AI answer engine Perplexity. Goal and Cybernews report that Ronaldo has taken an undisclosed stake in the company, recently valued in the tens of billions, and fronted a Perplexity x CR7 campaign built around a dedicated CR7 hub and archive of his career. According to those reports, he framed the decision as a bet on curiosity and innovation, positioning himself not just as a face of the brand but as a long term partner as AI becomes part of how elite performers prepare, learn, and communicate. On social media, he unveiled the deal with promotional clips emphasizing that success comes from asking new questions every day, a line that dominated headlines like Cristiano Ronaldo expands business empire as Portugal legend invests in ChatGPT rival and Ronaldo kicks off AI deal with Perplexity. On the political stage, his recent visit to Washington is still echoing. The SportsTak relays a new social media post from US President Donald Trump praising Ronaldo as an incredible athlete and person and revealing that Ronaldo phoned to thank him for a tour of the White House and Oval Office during a November trip as part of Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salmans delegation. That earlier appearance, covered by outlets such as AOL, placed Ronaldo in an unusually high profile diplomatic photo op alongside world leaders, reinforcing his status as a global soft power asset for both Saudi football and Portugal.Looking ahead to what is widely expected to be his final World Cup, Spanish daily AS and NDTV Sports confirm that Ronaldo and Portugal have been drawn into Group K for 2026, opening on June 17 against the winner of the Jamaica Congo New Caledonia playoff, then facing Uzbekistan on June 23 before a marquee June 27 date with Colombia at Miamis Hard Rock Stadium. AS highlights that Portugal will be based between Houston and Miami, with FIFA effectively handing Miami to Ronaldo rather than Lionel Messi, a decision that could become a defining image of his last World Cup summer. Reports that this will be his final tournament are consistent with past comments about his age but remain, strictly speaking, anticipatory rather than officially re announced in the past few days.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Noel catches up with Jordon Zadorozny, who goes by the recording and performance name of Blinker The Star. They released three albums on major labels, the third, the critically acclaimed, "August Everywhere", featured the single, "Below the Sliding Doors." Jordon worked with Hole's Courtney Love and contributed to their "Celebrity Skin" album. Jordon collaborated with his idol, Lindsey Buckingham, on a couple of songs. Two decades later, Jordon received retroactive song-writing credit after it was found that he accidentally plagiarized his song "Swan Song". Blinker The Star released the highly entertaining covers album, Arista, in 2021, featuring Madonna's "Holiday."
Before becoming a rock ‘n' roll frontman, Michael Des Barres was making his mark on screen—starring alongside Sidney Poitier in the 1967 classic To Sir, With Love. But it wasn't long before he traded the film set for the stage, forming glam rock outfit Silverhead in the early '70s before moving on to Detective, one of the few bands signed to Led Zeppelin's legendary Swan Song label. Hanging with Page, Plant, and Bonham was all part of the ride. In this episode of My Rock Moment, Michael shares his wild journey through music and acting—from those early days in London to writing one of the biggest songs of the 80s, to stepping in with The Power Station just days before Live Aid, and later, his unforgettable run as Murdoc on MacGyver. We also talk about his time with Pamela Des Barres, his show on Little Steven's Underground Garage, and the wise advice Sidney Poitier gave him early on. Michael Des Barres has lived a life where Hollywood and rock 'n roll collide—and he's got the stories to prove it.
