In this episode of the dialogue podcast, we're featuring ALF Senior Fellow Usha Srinivasan of Class XLII. Usha shares a reading of her contribution to Making Waves—AAPI Voices, a project of ALF Silicon Valley's AAPI Caucus. Through this project, the group hopes to share the experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders with the ALF network and broader community. Usha Srinivasan is the Founding CEO and President of Mosaic America, a nonprofit organization that aims to strengthen diverse communities through collaborative multicultural arts. Usha is a trained Bharatanatyam (Classical Indian) dancer who is passionate about using the arts to strengthen the community. She is a Knight Foundation Creative Community Fellow (2016-17) and a member of the Multicultural Arts Leadership Institute (MALI) Cohort (2015-16) in San Jose. She has served on the boards of World Arts West, Wildlife Rescue Palo Alto, and the City of Santa Clara's Cultural Commission. Usha holds a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, and an MBA from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business.

In 2017, the U.S. Department of Justice selected her as one of 12 prosecutors in the country to serve in an Opioid Fraud and Abuse Detection Unit. After executing one of the city's largest public art projects in recent history with its wildlife mural along the Wheeling Heritage Trail in 2021, the commission hopes to continue to add more murals to buildings across the city. Today we're joined by a current member of the Ferndale Arts & Cultural Commission to talk about their plans for the summer, including the launch of the new Ferndale Collective, as well as their upcoming live music series and mural project! Working with area organizations empowering and supporting the arts within the community. Reactivated in 2014 as an official government commission in the City of Ferndale it schedules and manages multiple performances and displays showcasing art through music, design, literature, fine art and performance. With the support of various art and creative organizations, local business and the community, the FACC is able to offer grants and compensation to artisans involved in such projects as the Salon Sundays, Community Mural Project and Garden Art Party to name a few.
