While baseball fields are run of the mill in most communities, there's a certain type of diamond that's less common: it's called a “Miracle Field.” There are three of these in West Virginia – in Morgantown, Wheeling and Green River. These are accessible baseball facilities that can accommodate players with disabilities. The post A Look At Baseball's ‘Miracle Fields,' This West Virginia Morning appeared first on West Virginia Public Broadcasting.

This episode is an encore presentation from the BS Free MD archives — and worth a second listen. Drs. May and Tim Hindmarsh welcome marriage coaches Dr. Jeep and Vanessa Naum back to BS Free MD for a wide-ranging conversation on what actually sustains a marriage long-term. The four longtime friends — coincidentally going through home sales and life transitions on opposite coasts — dig into the conversations couples should be having before the wedding and throughout the marriage: where to live, whose career takes priority, how many kids to have, religion, finances, in-laws, and shared interests. The Naums share personal stories, including Vanessa's sacrifice to move back to the Pittsburgh/Wheeling area so Jeep could fulfill his dream of practicing with his father, and Jeep's hard lesson in "financial infidelity" involving Thomas Kinkade paintings. The group unpacks why marriage is built on trust and commitment more than love, the importance of joint accounts and regular financial "state of the union" meetings, the power of delayed reward, the danger of losing individuality, and how to set boundaries with in-laws. With humor and candor, they remind listeners that nobody on their deathbed regrets driving a smaller car — they regret the time they didn't spend with the people they loved. Guest Bios Dr. George P. "Jeep" Naum, MD Dr. George P. "Jeep" Naum is a board-certified family physician, marriage coach, and author with over three decades of clinical experience and 30+ years of marriage coaching alongside his wife, Vanessa. A graduate of medical school with residency training in the Pittsburgh area, Dr. Jeep practiced family medicine with his father before co-founding Best Friends Again, LLC — a coaching practice that specializes in physician marriages and the unique pressures healthcare professionals face at home. He is the author of What's Forever For? A Physician's Guide for Everlasting Love and Success in Marriage, a marriage manual that blends psychological research, spiritual practices, and practical strategies for couples in every season of marriage. Dr. Jeep and Vanessa have been married since 1992, have three children, and currently reside in Wheeling, West Virginia. Vanessa C. Naum, MBA, CPC Vanessa C. Naum is a Certified Professional Coach, Relationship and Intimacy Coach, and co-founder of Best Friends Again, LLC, where she has been coaching engaged and married couples for over 25 years. She earned her MBA in Finance, summa cum laude, from Capella University, and holds undergraduate degrees in Management and Accounting from Wheeling Jesuit University. Vanessa is trained in the Somatica Method through the Somatica Institute in San Francisco and brings both lived experience — including a first marriage that ended in divorce — and rigorous training to her work with couples. She collaborated with Dr. Jeep on the final chapter of What's Forever For? and edited the manuscript. Together, the Naums specialize in helping physician couples reignite communication, intimacy, and connection through their signature 90 Days to Clarity and Connection program. Jeep clubs don't survive on mud alone. They survive when people feel welcomed, protected, and genuinely helped when something breaks on the trail. We sit down with Tim Mahaffey, President of the Lone Star Jeep Club, to talk about what happened to membership after COVID, why so many automotive communities quietly fade, and how a 30-year-old Texas Jeep club rebuilt momentum by getting serious about culture and member value. Tim shares how LSJC reframed the “why pay dues” question with practical perks like sponsor partnerships and a dealership service discount, plus a social media approach built on respect: one rule, no jerks. We also get into what makes a family-friendly off-road Jeep club work in real life, from certified trail leaders and planned runs to grouping drivers by difficulty so daily drivers and hardcore builds can both have a great day. You'll hear about caravanning to out-of-state trails, the stories that happen at dinner after a long day of wheeling, and why training events like a Jeep 101 class can keep new drivers safe and confident. After the interview, we switch gears with Jeff's Motor Minute and a laugh-worthy throwback Mother's Day car ad, then drop into a detailed 2026 Kia K4 review. Don breaks down the K4's hatchback styling, interior screens, cargo practicality, fuel economy, and the pricing reality that proves you can still find an affordable new car under $30,000 if you actually look. We close with a headline that raises eyebrows: Ford in discussions about potential defense projects and what that says about modern manufacturing and supply chains. He held a knife to his father's throat and felt, in that same moment, something he could only call love. That paradox — and the lifelong journey it set in motion — is what this conversation is about. Jaime Encinas is an entrepreneur, author, and spiritual leader whose life has been shaped by trauma, healing, and the hard work of breaking cycles. Founder of Wheeling to Healing and a fellow with WEAVE: The Social Fabric Project, Jaime brings a rare combination of personal testimony and practical framework to the question of how we repair — ourselves, our families, and our communities. In this conversation, we explore Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), the science of trauma, the meaning of forgiveness, and why the most powerful thing we can offer another person is simply to see them. Calls to Action ✅ If this conversation resonates, consider sharing it with someone who believes connection across difference still matters. ✅ Subscribe to Corey's Substack: coreysnathan.substack.com ✅ Leave a review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen: ratethispodcast.com/goodfaithpolitics ✅ Subscribe to Talkin' Politics & Religion Without Killin' Each Other on your favorite podcast platform. ✅ Watch the full conversation and subscribe on YouTube: youtube.com/@politicsandreligion Key Takeaways From "what's wrong with you" to "what happened to you." The ACEs framework — developed through research on adverse childhood experiences — reframes dysfunction not as a character flaw but as a response to trauma. That shift in question changes everything about how we approach healing. Cycles of violence are made to be broken. Jaime traces his father's cruelty to his grandfather's — and to the deeper legacy of colonization. Understanding the origin of pain doesn't excuse it. But it opens the door to compassion, and ultimately to forgiveness. Presence is a practice. From Meisner technique to contemplative prayer, Jaime has spent a lifetime learning to be still — and argues that our capacity to truly see one another depends on it. "See me" is the deepest human ask. Whether it's a child to a parent, a neighbor to a stranger, or a person experiencing homelessness to a passerby — the need to be truly seen cuts across every divide we face. Heaven might be here. Jaime's theology is grounded and immediate: the sacred shows up in moments of genuine encounter — washing a father's feet, walking beside a daughter in recovery, hugging someone on the street. About Our Guest Jaime Encinas is the founder of Wheeling to Healing, an organization dedicated to educating communities about the science of trauma and offering practical pathways toward healing. He is the author of two books drawn from that work and has spent decades as an educator, activist, and spiritual leader working with vulnerable communities. Jaime is a fellow with WEAVE: The Social Fabric Project, an Aspen Institute initiative that supports local leaders working to repair social trust. Just as West Virginia's state capital was moving from Wheeling to Charleston in 1871, city leaders wanted to see the new capital city as a place that could attract new hotels and commerce. Enter Mordecai Levi, who proposed an answer to not just the muddy streets of Charleston but for cities everywhere. Levi built the first brick streets known to the world in the capital city and soon cities large and small were using his patent.
