In the third message of our series called Meet God Here, Pastor Mel explains the role of holy places in our worship. Throughout history, both inside and outside the faith, people have considered high places to be holy. Elevations like mountains and hills have frequently been considered holy locations. Mel talks about several locations in scripture which God's people privileged as being holy. These include Shiloh, Jerusalem, and Mount Gerizim. It's easy for the faithful to become attached to specific places like churches or cathedrals as unique venues where one must go in order to meet God. In the final analysis, the sole factor for determining holiness is the presence of God - so any location where God is present becomes a holy place.

In this episode of What Makes You Wonderful, we talk with Erin Noon from Charleston Area Alliance to discuss the upcoming Elevations luncheon. This event highlights the achievements and stories of women leaders in the military. The luncheon is slated Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Embassy Suites in Charleston and offers an inspiring lineup of speakers and provides attendees with a chance to connect and network. Erin also shares how Charleston Area Alliance supports the local business community and the resources available.  For more information you can go to their website: https://charlestonareaalliance.org/ Text Version Tiffney It's time for the What Makes You Wonderful podcast! Hey there everyone! I'm your host, Tiffney Lopez, and this is where we talk about what makes Almost Heaven amazing. Be sure to check out the hashtag WMYW to find all the cool things that we talk about right here on the podcast. Today, we're going to talk about an event called Elevations. It's November 13th at Embassy Suites in Charleston, and I'd like to introduce all of you to Erin Noon. She's the Communications and Events Coordinator at Charleston Area Alliance. Erin, thank you so much for being here. Erin Tiffney, thank you so much for having me. I'm really, really excited to be here today Tiffney  And I'm excited for what we're getting ready to talk about. It's this Elevations luncheon. This is pretty exciting. Erin Absolutely. Elevations is a series that we do periodically throughout the year, usually quarterly, and it features female speakers and unites Charleston's professionals, both women and men, to learn and be inspired by the journeys, challenges, and accomplishments of strong female leaders and role models. So this upcoming one is, like you said, November 13th, and it's going to be at Embassy Suites, and we're going to actually feature four women who are in the military—two who are currently serving and two who have served and have since gotten out of the military. They are Brigadier General Michaelle Munger. She's the Special Assistant to the Adjutant General of West Virginia, Major Caroline Muriama, and she's the West Virginia National Guard Recruiting and Retention Battalion Commander. And then we have Lee Ann Haley, who was a former Army captain, and Mara Boggs , who is a former Army major and very distinguished. Inspiring women who I think will share some really cool stories and insights from their time in the military. Tiffney  What do events like this provide for people when they come and they hear these speakers? What do you see happening by the end of it? Erin I think it really inspires those who are in the room, and it gives them an opportunity to relate to maybe something that they've been through or take away a message of resilience and perseverance. And it gives women—and men alike—an opportunity to network with one another and see what everybody's going through and what they have going on in their personal lives and professional lives. It's a really good way to connect with someone and take something away from it, whether it's, you know, you're inspired by their story or something that they've done in the past. Just taking away something with you is really the goal. Tiffney  Like you said, this isn't the only event you have. But for those who don't know, Charleston Area Alliance is a way that you guys bring businesses together, right? Explain to me how that works. Erin We're a very unique organization. We bring all of our county's community and economic development communities together, and then we're also a traditional Chamber of Commerce. We're all under one roof. We were built on a legacy of three different organizations that came together back in 2004. We're on our 20th anniversary and we really try to bring the business community together and have them have an alliance with one another. Tiffney  What's your favorite part about whether it's events like this or being part of that larger networking? What's your favorite part about doing all this? Erin I think just being out in the community, you know, meeting different people, seeing what they're going through, and learning about, you know, economic and community development. It's not something that I was familiar with when I took this role. And I think learning about the different challenges that the business community faces, whether it's a large corporation or a small, small little business that started from the ground up. They all do share common, you know, goals and struggles alike. So it's been really fun just to get out there and learn about the business community. Tiffney  And you guys have those resources to help each business. So my next question is whether somebody is interested in this event that's happening November 13th or they're just interested in the Charleston Area Alliance. Where can they go for more information? Erin I would say the easiest way to check us out would be to go to CharlestonAreaAlliance.org. We have all of our information on there, stuff that we've done in the past, stuff that we're currently doing. We have a community calendar of events like Elevations and other things that we have going on, or stuff that our members post on there. So that's probably the easiest way to check us out or just call (304) 340-4253 and ask for any of our staff members. We're a small but mighty team, and we're willing to help out in any capacity that we can. Tiffney I like it, "small but mighty." Just like West Virginia.  Erin You're right!  Tiffney  Erin, thank you so much for being here today. And thank you for telling us what makes you wonderful. Erin Thanks for having me, Tiffney. I had fun. What Makes You Wonderful is a feature of the daily304, your window into wonderful Almost Heaven, West Virginia. On the other side of the same coin, there are those individuals spewing out programs which lack Divinity such as judgement, hate and aggression. If you've hiked above the tree line of a mountain in Colorado, you've likely come across a couple fuzzy little critters making their homes among the rocks. Deer mice, in particular, are native to North America and are often found at the peaks of the Rocky Mountains. As you stand there at the summit, gasping for air after a long hike, you might have realized that the little mice don't look tired or breathless at all. They scurry around between the rocks, little balls of energy. So why is it that, at one of the highest elevations humans can reach, you're so worn out, while the mouse is fine? In this episode, Emma speaks with Jon Velotta, assistant professor of evolutionary biology at the University of Denver, who studies how these mice have adapted to the high altitudes at which they live.  Jon Velotta is an assistant professor of evolutionary biology at the University of Denver, where he studies how animals adapt to extreme environments. Velotta's research blends evolution with the fields of physiology and genomics. His ongoing work includes how mice have adapted to the extreme cold and low oxygen conditions of high-altitude, and how fish have made the evolutionary transition from saltwater to freshwater. More Information: Jonathan Velotta's Google Scholar webpage “Physiological and genomic evidence that selection on the transcription factor Epas1 has altered cardiovascular function in high-altitude deer mice,” Jonathan Velotta et al “Elephants have evolved to be tuskless because of ivory poaching, a study finds,” NPR “The Genetic Basis of Chronic Mountain Sickness,” Roy Ronen, Dan Zhou, Vineet Bafna and Gabriel G. We should not glamorize or romanticize the early Church - they had major issues just like we do today. If we go back 2,000 years in Church history, you will find there a problem that is still around today. One of these problems is our tendency to divide and fragment the unity of the Body of Christ based on what particular leader (or what type of leader) we think is the best suited to lead us. Jesus first followers had a major problem with envy for positions, leader-worshipping, and faulty awareness of inferior motivations for Kingdom ministry. What is the cure for these types of ills? Remaining centered on the person of Christ, and remaining tenaciously committed to the big-picture of the Kingdom no matter what others might be doing around you. In the end, the words of Jesus and the Apostle Paul empower us today to miss the landmines that the early Church repeatedly stepped on.

rWotD Episode 2412: Spring Mountain District AVA Welcome to random Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of a random Wikipedia page every day.The random article for Monday, 11 December 2023 is Spring Mountain District AVA.The Spring Mountain District AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in the Napa Valley AVA in California. Spring Mountain District AVA was officially established as an American Viticulture Area in 1993. Encompassed within its bounds are about 8,600 acres (3,480 ha), of which about 1,000 acres (400 ha) are planted to vineyards. Given the small crop yields on hillsides, the region represents less than 2% of Napa Valley wine. Currently the region has just over 30 winegrowers. The appellation sits on steep terraces of the Mayacamas Mountains that separate Napa Valley from Sonoma Valley and the Santa Rosa Plain. It lies in a northwestern portion of the Napa Valley above and behind the town of Saint Helena. The boundaries of the appellation extend from the top of the ridgeline on the western edge, tracing the Sonoma/Napa County border. From the ridgeline the boundaries extend down to the 400 feet (122 m) contour line at the eastern base of the hillside. The southern boundary is Sulphur Creek and one of its tributaries, while the northern boundary is Ritchie Creek. Elevations range from 400 feet (122 m) to 2,600 feet (792 m). The region has a predominantly eastern exposure. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:37 UTC on Monday, 11 December 2023.For the full current version of the article, see Spring Mountain District AVA on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Kendra Standard.

What is the Slave Master's Greatest Asset? Part: I

The term Asset is defined by Merriam-Webster as the property of a deceased person subject by law to the payment of his or her debts and legacies and the entire property of a person, association, corporation, or estate applicable or subject to the payment of debts. So, what is the Slave Master's greatest asset? What lengths will the Slave Master go to in order to keep and maintain this asset? In 1666, during the "Black Plague", London enacted the Cestui Que Vie as a method to protect its assets by moving them from the land to the sea at birth (berth) by way of registering a bond. In this episode, I provide information about the various answers to these questions as we explore this Cestui Que Vie Act. If you were to ask me, I would say that her greatest asset is her slave. Interestingly enough, the concept of freedom is what many nations around the world claim their allegiance to. Many nations indoctrinate young minds at an early age with this oath, turning them into an object of said hope for freedom. What is the truth? I follow the will of my Father, The Highest God! So, sometimes, Elevations require separation and this is our parting of ways. All Glory to The Most-High God for allowing me another day! Today welcome back a returning guest who has extensive experience helping scores of clients, from individual entrepreneurs to publicly traded companies, navigate complex cannabis disputes and successful business strategies. She is a partner and lead of the cannabis practice at Holland & Hart, based in Denver.Elevations Hotels and Resorts, based out of Arizona, announced in January they will convert the Artisan Hotel Boutique, which is just off the Las Vegas Strip, into The Lexi, a 64-room hotel with the entire fourth floor designated as cannabis friendly. Elevations also own and operate the Clarendon Hotel & Spa in Phoenix, which lays claim to being the state's first cannabis-friendly hotel. We discuss how amenities and the guest experience will ultimately be different and how this Vegas location will be able to perform. The Street reports that Las Vegas has a cannabis conundrum. The city allows the sale of marijuana for recreational use, but it only allows it to be smoked in private residences. That means that people visiting the Las Vegas Strip, Fremont Street, or any other part of the city are technically breaking the law when they light up.Nevada has taken steps to correct the problem. The state has set the framework for legal consumption lounges and two very interesting players are getting close to giving Las Vegas tourists a place to legally (and comfortably) light up their joints, pipes, and other methods of smoking cannabis. Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In this episode, I cover salmeterol (Serevent) pharmacology, adverse effects, drug interactions and special warnings with this medication. Salmeterol is a long acting beta agonist that can be used in combination with inhaled corticosteroids for management of asthma. Salmeterol can be used as monotherapy in COPD and should not be used as monotherapy in asthma. Elevations in pulse and blood pressure can happen with a beta agonist like salmeterol.
