After a heavy snowfall, mysterious footprints showed up all over the county of Devon, England, and not just on the ground. These footprints were on pipes, roofs, and even on top of a frozen river. No one could find the source and every possible outcome they thought of didn’t seem likely. Was this the work of the devil himself?

In 1855, in new-fallen snow in Devonshire, a trail of small hooflike footprints led for miles. Similar footprints have been found on several occasions, most notably during the 1909 Jersey Devil sightings. But what are these mysterious footprints? There is a certain paranormal phenomenon known around the world called The Devil's Footprints. These cloven-hoofed prints have been randomly showing up imprinted in stones like granite. Scientists say its a natural characteristic of the stone while many others say it all started one night when the Devil showed up to our little town. Kim talks about three areas in Nova Scotia that have stones with these hoof prints and a story to accompany it. The bourbon pairing of choice is 1792 Single Barrel.

One of the biggest unsolved mysteries happened in Devon. England in 1855, where the Devil's footprints were reported by numerous towns folk. Now whether or not they were actually made from the red horned beast himself remains to be seen, however the prints found in the snow where quite perplexing. We love covering urban legends and we have another one for this episode. Urban legends can be as recent as the Charlie, Charlie Game that went viral on the internet a couple of weeks ago or they can reach back into the past. The legend surrounding the Devil's Footprints dates back to 1855. The Devil's Footprints is an unexplained mystery that is one of the strangest stories we have ever heard. The only theory that has really survived the test of time is that the Devil paid a visit to Devon, England and made his way bouncing around roofs and yards and such. After hearing the details, perhaps you will come up with your own theory. Was it the Devil? Did aliens pay a visit? Could these be the tracks of a ghost? The Moment in Oddity features the disappearing island of Lomea and This Day in History features the Stars and Stripes becoming America's official flag.
