Every life matters. God has a purpose for every person who has ever or will ever be born. Dionne, a Christian, a poet, and a digital art student, is also the host of the podcast Words of Heart. She has handled major physical challenges in her life -- she couldn't hear or talk until she was almost 3 years old, and then, in January 2020 she was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic. When it comes to mental health challenges, she has also experienced several. Rejected by her classmates and peers through much of her childhood, she often felt invisible and very alone, to the point where she thought the world would be better off without her. Today, she is a self-described warrior for change, which is a testament to her perseverance despite nearly two decades of obstacles. Connect with Dionne on Instagram at @heartwarrior25. Dionne Sanchez joins me today to talk about her experience growing up from a young child who couldn't talk or hear to a pivotal experience in junior high school that changed her life. While not directly related to narcissistic or sociopathic abuse, the lessons she learned and how she grew from her experience is a great example for all of us no matter what kind of trauma we've experienced. Beating the odds through the support of her family, friends and years of therapy, Dionne has gone on to go to college and is now host of the podcast Words of Heart in which she has inspiring conversations about mental health. This week's guest is fellow podcaster Dionne Sanchez, host of Words of Heart.I review three films this week - James Gunn's first venture into the DC world, The Suicide Squad (2021) which tries to bounce the franchise back from the weak first outing, Val (2021), an autobiographical documentary about Val Kilmer's career, and finally, the scariest thing I saw all week, Woodstock ‘99: Peace, Love, and Rage (2021), which looks at the horrific disaster that was Woodstock ‘99.The topic Dionne chose was Top 5 Remakes.Check out Words of Heart here.
Dionne couldn't talk or hear for the first two years of her life. This slowed down things for her and she had learning difficulties to overcome. Now she uses her voice for change and she holds sacred space for others to share their stories, because after so many years of not being seen and being silenced, she knows this is her gift to give the world. Be inspired.
Vulnerable convo with Dionne about her journey of being different, she was born not being able to hear or speak and always being the odd kid left out and felt invisible. How getting diagnosed with diabetes saved her life. How she made it through several suicidal thoughts. She went from being the odd one out to embracing her differences and found friends that loved her for who she was! Lastly she touches on the importance of checking in on your friends for their mental health :) Words of Heart Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/words-of-heart/id1529627521 Words of Heart Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/Heartwarrior24/ More Heart Snuggles: To join Radically Connected https://www.alivetoenjoy.com/radicallyconnected Instagram: Alivetoenjoy (https://www.instagram.com/alivetoenjoy/) Email: alivetoenjoy@outlook.com Donations to help spread the heart snuggles: https://www.alivetoenjoy.com/heartsnuggles --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/heartsnuggles/message
