Da glaubt man könne “nur” über eine wirklich gute State of Play von Sony sprechen und dann knallen da plötzlich die Neuigkeiten aus dem Himmel. Aber alles von vorne. Bevor wir über die News sprechen, am Mikrofon der 205. Episode sind Maurice, Olu und Chris für euch, berichten wir von unseren zuletzt gespielten Spiele! Dragon's Dogma 2 Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead God of War: Sons of Sparta Nioh 3 ??? – Ranking (da müsst ihr schon einschalten) Los geht’s mit einem Bericht aus einer koreanischen Wirtschaftszeitung. Nexon soll angeblich an einem StarCraft-Shooter arbeiten. Fans der Marke dürften sich freuen?! Aufgrund der aktuellen Hardwarepreise dürfte sich der Release der PlayStation 6 auf 2028 oder 2029 verschieben, das wird vermutet und auch die Nintendo Switch 2 könnte im Preis steigen. Das die Künstliche Intelligenz in den vergangenen Jahren unglaubliche Fortschritte gemacht hat, wissen wir. Manche davon sind definitiv gut, jedoch ist die Schattenseite enorm groß. Manipulierte Videoclips, KI generierte Musik die die Charts bei Streaminganbietern erobert uvm. Die Unity-Engine soll im März mit dem Zusatz “Unity AI” auf der Game Developer Conference in Form einer Beta vorgestellt werden. So soll es damit möglich sein, ohne Programmierkenntnisse Casual-Games zu entwickeln. The Elders Scrolls VI setzt auf die 3. Version der hauseigenen Creation Engine von Bethesda und ob das so gut ist … weiß ich nicht. Gut ist auf jeden Fall nicht, dass wieder Stellen bei Ubisoft gestrichen werden. Was ebenso hohe negative Wellen geschlagen hat – Sony schließt Bluepoint Games. Die Könige hinter diversen großartigen Remakes wie z. B. Shadow of the Colossus oder zuletzt Demon’s Souls. Mir fiel echt die Kinnlade runter und die Meinung von Olu und Maurice dazu hört Ihr in der Folge. Ein Erdbeben gab’s auch bei Microsoft! Phil Spencer und Sarah Bond sind raus! Die gute Nachricht vorweg: Mikes PC läuft wieder! Es war das Netzteil. Wenn es schon die Einleitung mit der guten Nachricht gibt, muss es natürlich auch schlechte Nachrichten geben und davon leider einige. Derzeit gibt es einen Verkaufsstopp für Geräte von Asus und Acer. Aber warum? Nokia (oder was davon heute noch übrig ist) hat die beiden Hersteller verklagt wegen Verletzung von Patenten, die den Video-Codec H.265 bzw. HEVC betreffen. Und falls euch das bekannt vorkommt: Ja, das macht Nokia öfter. Sony wollte auch mal wieder in die Schlagzeilen und hat Bluepoint Games geschlossen. Die haben zuletzt das exzellente Remake zu Demon’s Souls zum Start der PS5 herausgebracht und galten als absolute Meister ihres Faches. Was haben die seitdem gemacht? Sie haben an God of War: Ragnarök mitgearbeitet und danach ein Service-Game im God-of-War-Universum entwickelt. Das wurde natürlich schon letztes Jahr eingestellt. Dabei gäbe es so viele Titel in der Playstation-Historie, die sich für ein Remake oder Remaster anbieten würden… Und weil Microsoft es anscheinend nicht ertragen kann, wenn Sony der Buhmann ist, ließen sie kurz vor unserer Aufnahme eine kleine Bombe platzen: Phil Spencer, CEO von Microsoft Gaming, ist zurückgetreten, direkt mit ihm Sarah Bond, President of Xbox. Nachfolgerin von Spencer wird Asha Sharma, bisher President of CoreAI Product bei Microsoft, war also für die ganzen tollen „AI“-Produkte wie Copilot und Recall verantwortlich. Das scheint auch nur die Spitze des Eisbergs zu sein. Zum Ausklang haben Mo und Mike „Norse: Oath of Blood“ gespielt, Rundentaktik gewürzt mit Rollenspiel-Elementen im Wikinger-Setting. After a brief hiatus for Sundance we are back to get you caught up on this week's physical media. Erik Childress and Peter Sobczynski look at a pair of enjoyable larks in the careers of John Woo and Jonathan Demme. There is the fun hangout movie that was just celebrated at the film festival where it had its premiere as well as one of the early Rolling Stones concert films. SXSW premiered one of the great twisted films about capitalistic depravity and Arrow does it justice here. There is also some twisted Dario Argento and a kid trying to hook up with Nicole Kidman. But this week is full of original films that were eventually remade including a western written by Elmore Leonard, the film which won William Hurt his Oscar, a Clark Gable film that he made twice, a dynamite thriller on a train, Charles Bronson as a cultured killer. Remakes, Re-Imaginings, Expansions. In 2004 Director Jonathan Demme would explore the world of Politics, Espionage, and Cold War Brainwashing with a new and novel take on John Frankenheimer's 1962 Cold War Classic The Manchurian Candidate. Demme would expand and manipulate Richard Condon's source material (a best-selling novel from 1959),  replacing the Korean Conflict with an updated Persian Gulf - and a replacement of Soviet and Chinese Communist manipulation with International Global Corporations holding the strings. Demme's update would be both more timely, relevant, frightening, and - somehow - reveal the problems with both films (at least in the mind of one of your hosts). This week Mr. Chavez & I discuss this very important film, its predecessor and its relevance in the current global environment. We discuss great performances from Denzel Washington, Liev Schreiber, and - a criminally underused - Meryl Streep. First show of the second year on VBR. Thanks to everyone that has tuned in or downloaded over the last 12 months. Weekly shows are intense and come round so quickly.This week's show is a new music show for January. It's a real mixed bag, I'd only bought 16 new tracks and half of those were real chunky house tracks. You need about 25 for a two hour show so I needed to pad the first hour out but had no idea what to go with.The mix starts with three new tracks on the soulful deep vibe. I then cracked the vinyl out and played two of my favourite Soulfuric tunes. We stayed old skool and vinyl for the next four tracks before coming back up to date with Jay Vegas remake of another old classic from the mid 90's. One of my favourite tunes from back then. Remakes are the order of the day and we pick another with a beefed up version of The Fog's "Been A Long Time".Once we get past Yolanda Be Cool it's all new, up to the last track.We first pay a visit to Old London town and those lumpy bumpy UKG beats.The rest of the mix is the new house sound I'm hearing in the underground clubs.My fav is the Haritas track, absolute mayhem, love it.We finish off with another classic from the 00's - Shakedown - At Night.Unfortunately my computer crashed just as the last track was mixing in. It meant my show ended abruptly five minutes early and the recording stopped.
