The long awaited episode for all the Godzilla fans, Final Wars. Dylan and I have been hyping this one up for a long time, and with Ethan back in the studio it was the perfect time. This film has everything, guns, lasers, aliens, all the monsters, a motorcycle fight scene, it truly is a wild ride. Most of all we cannot forget the most important character Captain Gordon. He is the most American character, with a katana and we are all here for it.Our Links:Ian Wolffe
The conclusion of many eras of Godzilla come to a close with the 2004 monster bash blowout Final Wars! Be careful not to cut yourself on that edge! We're also super excited to have G-artist extraordinaire Matt Frank here to swap stories and dig into the mess with us! Final Wars won't let you sit on the fence, with a heavy dose of Matrix-ripoff action, cheesy dialogue, and of course, Sum 41. Where will Ryan, Sam, Joanna, and Matt fall on the spectrum of Final Wars discourse? Our next episode brings us back to Gamera territory with a triple feature of terrapin terror! It's time for a duology of Mechagodzilla- er, Kiryu films, soaked in anime influence, 60s throwbacks, and some pretty good kaiju photography. In this back-to-back bout of three monsters, the winner is undeniably the mecha nerds. We hope you're happy. Guest Sophie Desmond is here to share high school tales of Ryan, gush about fairy babes, and become perhaps the most devoted Godzillavangelist acolyte yet. Meanwhile, Sam see-saws on his opinion and Ryan talks trailer downloads in the dialup days. Our next episode wraps up the Millennium series with that controversial blast of testosterone-fueled mayhem, Final Wars. Dust off your giant leather trenchcoat. YHS on Monster Island returns and takes a look at the polarizing 2004 entry and finale of the Millennium series, Godzilla: Final Wars...and what better way to do that than have "The Tattooed Titan of Tokusatsu" Jacob Walsh reveal his Top 10 kaiju designs (or, more accurately, re-designs)? Our host minces no words as he discusses what went right, wrong...and very wrong...with the likes of Keizer Ghidorah, Anguirus, Monster X, and the entire Final Wars kaiju roster. On top of reviewing the film, Jacob and Jay touch on some recent toy news from Marusan, Star Ace/X-Plus, and compare the upcoming wacky Hedorah releases from Medicom Toy x Akashic Records and Swimmy Design Lab. Jay also provides a recap of Toku Toy Town's weekend at Retro Expo and his run-in with a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer! Of course, it wouldn't be YHS on Monster Island without weekly pick-ups...and though it's a light week on that front, it doesn't stop our dynamic duo of daikaiju devotees from detouring on topics such as Jay's fear of Harryhausen collecting and Super Mario Bros. toys. As always, please leave us a rating and review...and subscribe to the channel to get your latest on kaiju films, fandom, television, and toys! There are plenty of kaiju films that are polarizing among the devout fan base. But I am hard pressed to find one that is more binary in opinion than the 2004 Godzilla Final Wars. The final entry of the Millennium era, this film was the last Godzilla until the recent Legendary Pictures series culminating in just a few weeks with Godzilla vs Kong. But was this a fun send off? Join us and special guests Scott Schuette and PCL Brian to find out!
5 Guests on a panel - Topic - Godzilla King of the Monsters and all that comes with the BIG "G"! We will be talking about his history in the movies, his merch and the upcoming Film - " Godzilla vs King Kong".Frank Clevenger - A Boy fan since his introduction by his father . His love of Godzilla was a huge bond between Frank and his father until he passed. Frank to this day still looks at Godzilla thru child's eyes with his fathers spirit by his side.Emanuel Class - I started out obsessing over Godzilla as a young man. Fast forward 20 years and I discovered the game Monsterpocalypse a Kiaju board game it reignited my Kaiju passion and I've been bing watching Godzilla movies non stopRobert Durham II - From the earliest of memories it was King Kong and dinosaurs. Then, one day around the age 9, his grandmother happened to pick him up a VHS copy of 'Godzilla King of the Monsters' with Raymond Burr, from Goodwill. It wasn't long after that, that his grandmother would bring home another film. This, the obsession with Godzilla would begin. It was King Kong vs Godzilla, afterwords Robert had made it his small-time childhood hobby, to collect Godzilla figurines & movies wherever he could. It wasn’t until Robert was 16 did he finally take figurine collecting seriously. With not only Godzilla but other franchises as well. Now at the age of 25, he decided to start a his own YouTube channel, CloakingArbiter- Figurine Toy Reviews.Gerard Zagumny - My father introduced me to Godzilla 1985 and since then I've been hooked. Saturday morning watching Monster Vision were a nice memory to share with him.Vince Moore - I’ve been a fan of Godzilla since about 1976. The first movie of the series I’ve ever seen is Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster on an old black and white tv. I grew up watching Godzilla and Kaiju movies, especially over thanksgiving break when they were on WOR - saw Godzilla vs Megalon in the theaters too. I’m more of a fan of the movies of the 60s than of the later years (1984-present, except Final Wars and King of the Monsters); maybe it’s nostalgia. I’ve passed that love of Godzilla on to my son.My first tattoo is the Japanese symbols for Gojira. Anyway, I love watching Godzilla movies they are a part of me.

We're back this week with the Wrestlemania of Godzilla movies: FINAL WARS! This movie was equal parts badass and also really cool, but still manages to be super awesome. From the pumping drum & bass soundtrack to the motorcycle martial arts, you won't have to worry about your face getting bored because you won't have one after it gets blown off by the Kaiju in this movie. You've got your classics, Anguira, Rodan, Mothra, Hedorah, etc. But the real star villain of the show is not just one form but two forms of GIGAN who comes back even badder and asser than before. He's got spikes everywhere, chainsaw hands and a buzz saw on his belly. This is a dream monster. Plus King Ghidorah becomes a vampire. Hell yeah! Super creepy. There's a ton of Earth Defense Force similarities. Check out this imgae from the video game and the movie! Anyone else notice the similarities?
