This week I'm talking with street artist Chris Dokebi. I was lucky enough to meet up with Chris a few weeks back while he was in town for the Five Points Festival. We're talking about the origin of his character, what got him into street art and how he got involved in the world of vinyl toys.
This week we are joined by Josh and Miranda from Clutter Toys. We discuss their journey from magazine to where they are now. They are a pioneer in the world of designer toys and the visionaries behind Five Points Festival, The Designer Toy Awards and more. Their most recent project, Canbot, just completed its Kickstarter campaign a massive success. If you are a collector or interested at all in designer toys, you need to know about Clutter.
Up until last week I had never been to Brooklyn, I had never been to a designer toy convention, and I had never seen 9 inch resin figures valued in quadruple digits. I had never seen live graffiti competitions, overweight versions of my favorite childhood cereal mascots, nor had I ever eaten a slice of pizza named after Hellboy. But after attending the 2019 Five Points Festival...I can now say I've done all of those things. And more. So much more. It had been far too long since we last covered a show with our very best friend Brett Kelley. So the three of us (along with ace photographer Babs Who Takes Pictures) traveled down to Five Points and scoped out the latest in designer toys, craft beers, kaiju figures, and enamel pins. Oh lord the pins. So many pins. Check out this week's episode with Brett in the guest seat as we recap our experiences and expenditures at what could easily be considered one of the most unique and potentially expensive shows we've ever covered. Photos can be found Enjoy! -Jr
Rob talks Godzilla, Microman, Five Points Festival, Rangerstop and Transformers keshi in this June 2019 edition of the show. The post Transform Squadron 010 – Apex Unit appeared first on Radio Free Cybertron.
Five Points Fest is but mere days away and with it being my first year attending, I think it goes without saying that I'm pretty excited to be completely clueless as to what is going on. I'm still pretty new to the designer toy scene but after , I've been looking to this upcoming weekend for some time now. While researching and hashtag-jumping in preparation for the show, Alex came across a toy designer by the name of 3D Hero. We were both impressed with his work and seeing as he's going to be tabling front-and-center at the show this weekend, we thought it would be fun to talk with him, learn about his characters and designs, and generate a little hype for Five Points Fest. You can check out his work and plus if you're going to be in Brooklyn over the next 48-60ish hours, you'll be able to see him and his work in-person at the show! Huge thanks to Hero for making time for us despite his insanely busy pre-con schedule. This year's Five Points Fest is shaping up to be a rad show and I can't wait to spend too much money there. Enjoy! -Jr.

Special guest and old friend Mike Fullam comes on to chat about a brand new podcast he and his best friend Jon started. Besides discussing J&M:Something Nothing Show, we get into Mike's Nintendo obsession, Sir Jon tells us about The Five Points Festival in Brooklyn, we review a few recent films including Solo and even get into podcast editing and vocational agriculture. This one is chock full of stuff, so please enjoy the last Pint before we turn....50!
we had the pleasure of speaking with Josh and Sarah of the Five Points Festival mere hours before the show was slated to begin. Needless to say it was super rad of them to even give us 5 minutes of time let alone a half hour and the end result was a whole bunch of hype as Jon and Alex prepared to head to New York City to check it out. They've since checked it out, took a little bit of time to compress and get some thoughts together, and now it's time for the end result. This one was exciting for a variety of reasons, too. It's been a while since we've had the opportunity to cover a new show outside of our normal routine plus who better to cover it than our resident toy expert himself? The last time we were at a convention with Jon was around 3 years ago while Alex was recovering from surgery and I was helping a friend experience his first ever NYCC. So it's a bit overdue. Plus, we've never been able to cover a show quite like this one. Yes, we've been to comic cons, steampunk shows, anime conventions etc...but a designer toy and craft beer show? That's new territory. New, expensive territory. Just the way we like it. Tune in to this week's episode as Alex and Jon recap their experiences at the 2018 Five Points Festival and get the inside scoop on the latest in designer toys, enamel pins, kaiju and more. Once again, huge thanks to the folks at Five Points for giving us some time to chat with them and cover their show; it's quite possible there will be 3 of us attending next year... Enjoy! -Jr.

This coming weekend is the Five Points Festival down at the Brooklyn Expo Center in New York City. Last year we missed out on Five Points and didn't realize what we could have had until it was too late. Now that time has passed and we're a bit older and somewhat wiser the Festival is here again and we're not looking to make the same mistake twice. At least Alex isn't. Because in just a matter of days he and our great pal Jon are going to be traveling to the city to take part in the 2nd Five Points Festival so they can see the sights, gawk at some art, and probably spend too much money. In other words they're looking to experience a great convention. In anticipation of the show we were fortunate enough to have a quick chat with two of the people who make it all possible: Sarah Booz and Josh Kimberg. Despite the fact that they have a show literally hours from now, they managed to make some time for a few dummies looking to ask them some questions. Check out the site and if your interested is piqued there's still time to get your behind to NYC. Tune in next week (or maybe the week after?) ...soon. Tune in soon for our recap and follow our so you don't miss out on any snaps from the show. Enjoy! -Jr.
