I wonder what it would have been like to be one of those who greeted Jesus as He humbly came into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. Jesus was met with people laying down their cloaks and palm branches on the road. This journey would ultimately lead to His death and resurrection. It is because of His yes and love for us that we look forward to Good Friday and Easter this coming weekend. We might not have palm branches, but we honor God by welcoming Him into our lives, worshiping Him and giving Him our everything. As we turn to God and yield our hearts to Him, He is maturing and forming us in love. It is in this intimate space that He begins to refine us and rearrange our priorities. It is also the space where our wills bend toward God and away from other things - where we become quick to repent. His love is like a fire that we not only build our lives around, but it's the fire that burns in us and it shapes us, forms us, and matures us. As we remember all that Jesus has done, let us take time to step into the light and examine our own hearts. The Lord is purifying His church and with purity, comes clarity.Matthew 5:8, blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see GodLord, we thank you for your great love and we ask that you will purify us and clean out the clutter in our lives. Forgive us in any area that we have been partnering with something other than you. Today we lay down our lives and we invite your love into every space. For more info, you can go to our website, check us out on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube. Paring Down: Realistic minimalism to live more intentionally
"What if our partner says they'll do something, but they don't follow through?" "How do we get our partners to care about all the details of home/family management?" These are just two of the questions I ask relationship expert and author Dr. Morgan Cutlip on today's episode of Paring Down. "The mental load" is a big term getting a lot of attention these days because it's an important component to healthy, happy relationships. Clutter can feel like one big "to-do" list, and if we shoulder the responsibility for dealing with it by ourselves, it's recipe for resentment and disconnection in our relationship. In today's episode, relationship expert Dr. Morgan Cutlip shares about her new book "A Better Share: How Couples Can Tackle the Mental Load for More Fun, Less Resentment, and Great Sex," coming out April 15th. We continue our Spring Cleaning of the Heart and Mind Series by taking an honest look at clutter. We're getting real about our stuff - and the mindset and habits that led us to accumulate it to begin with. We're looking beyond storage bins to real solutions - as we work to tackle things like our fear, discontent, and the overwhelm that leads to procrastination. Clutter isn't just taking up room in our closets - it's holding valuable space in our hearts and minds too. We wrap up this episode with lots of practical tips to help us tackle clutter and start creating the mental and emotional space we need to live more freely, focused, and at peace.

Episode Summary: In this episode, we explore the powerful connection between decluttering your space and achieving weight loss success. Our environment shapes our mindset, habits, and overall well-being. By organizing our physical surroundings, we create space for better decisions, healthier choices, and a calmer mind. Tune in to discover how a clutter-free home can support your weight loss journey. Listener Question: “I am working on decluttering my home, changing my relationship to home and possessions. Any advice or guidance in that area would be great!” Key Topics Covered: How your external environment impacts your internal state. The psychological effects of clutter: stress, overwhelm, and decision fatigue. The identity shift: Becoming a person who takes care of their space and themselves. The financial aspect: Clutter represents money you once had—rethinking purchases. Practical strategies to start decluttering and regain control. Practical Approaches to Decluttering: Stop Spending on Non-Essentials Implement a budget and a 24-hour hold rule before making purchases. Reflect on past purchases: Did they bring lasting joy or just add to clutter? Consider: Would I rather have this item or the money in savings? Ditch and Donate Like It's Your Job Declutter small spaces daily (drawer, shelf, cabinet) to avoid overwhelm. Use the 20-item rule: Find and remove 20 items per day (expired food, unworn clothes, broken items, etc.). Give items to friends, donate to charity, or sell locally for extra cash. Why This Matters for Weight Loss: Decluttering fosters a sense of control and reduces stress-related eating. A tidy kitchen encourages healthier eating and meal prep. Removing distractions makes it easier to focus on self-care and movement. Action Step for Listeners: Pick one small area to declutter today and reflect on how it makes you feel. Share your progress with us on social media or email!
