Watch the best scene reading: https://youtu.be/DO6c1RbZ9zwDuring the Great Depression, a troubled New Orleans beat cop gets a shot at redemption when he becomes the first Black federal agent in the Bureau of Narcotics—only to discover that the price of his status comes at the cost of persecuting his own community. What is your screenplay about?Reefer Madness is a one-hour historical crime drama set in 1933 New Orleans. It follows Gary O'Neill, a troubled but ambitious Black federal narcotics agent, as he becomes one of the first Black agents in the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and is pulled into undercover work inside the city's jazz clubs, dockside networks, and marijuana underworld. At the same time, Commissioner Harry Anslinger begins transforming marijuana into a national panic, using propaganda, racism, and political fear to build the foundation of what would become the War on Drugs. Tonally, we often describe the series as Boardwalk Empire meets Sinners, with the grounded political-crime engine of Narcos: Mexico: a seductive period underworld, a Black music-driven cultural pulse, and a federal propaganda machine colliding in the making of America's drug war.At its core, the story is about what happens when a man's biggest opportunity forces him to help enforce laws that harm his own community. What genres does your screenplay fall under?Historical crime drama and political thriller. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie/tv series? This story should be made because the history behind marijuana prohibition is still shaping lives today. Cannabis is now legal and profitable in many places, yet many people, especially Black and racialized communities, are still living with the consequences of the laws, convictions, stigma, and policing that came before legalization. That contradiction is at the heart of Reefer Madness: the distance between who profits from the plant now and who paid the price for it then. While developing the project, we travelled to New Orleans and saw advertisements for legal weed in a city deeply tied to jazz, race, policing, and survival, knowing that people are still imprisoned for cannabis-related offences. As a series, Reefer Madness offers a rich and entertaining world of jazz, crime, politics, undercover work, family fracture, and moral compromise, while opening a necessary conversation about propaganda, racism, policing, and historical accountability.——Subscribe to the podcast: https://twitter.com/wildsoundpodhttps://www.instagram.com/wildsoundpodhttps://www.facebook.com/wildsoundpod ——Love for for you to try the Indy Film Festival AP.• Daily new film festival of the best new films from around the world. What do our clothes reveal when status, shame, ambition, and self-protection begin controlling the person we pretend to be? Costume designer Olga Mill joins Voice of Costume for a thoughtful deep dive into Season 2 of Netflix's BEEF, exploring how clothing can expose the hidden anxieties beneath wealth, taste, success, and carefully constructed identities. Olga traces her journey from immigrating from Ukraine and learning to "read the room" visually to studying costume design at NYU and cold-calling her way onto Boardwalk Empire. She then reveals how the costumes of BEEF distinguish Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z, while also showing that every generation wrestles with the same desire to feel original, accomplished, secure, and seen. The conversation explores Carey Mulligan's Lindsay, whose fear of appearing "basic" produces an elevated but increasingly suffocating world of bold patterns, curated luxury, emerging designers, and Montecito style. Olga also discusses building characters with Oscar Isaac and Charles Melton, drawing inspiration from Instagram, art photography, regional fashion, the Fisher King myth, generational cycles, class aspiration, and emotional decay. Beyond fashion, this becomes an honest conversation about vulnerability, creative collaboration, fear of rejection, identity, status, shame, and the freedom that comes from separating your worth from your work. A must-listen for: Fans of BEEF, Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton, Netflix dramas, A24, costume design, luxury fashion, generational culture, character psychology, and emotionally layered storytelling. The "Voice of Costume" is the first podcast created between working costume designers sharing stories, inspiration, struggles, and insights into the creative career of costume design. A behind-the-scenes podcast to showcase the voices of Costume Designers around the world. Listen in on this inspirational, one-on-one conversation with Catherine Baumgardner. The teases for Daredevil Born Again SEASON 3 gave us goosebumps! !! Coy Jandreau & Greg Alba sit down with the legendary Vincent D'Onofrio for an in-depth Daredevil: Born Again interview about Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, the creative overhaul behind the series, and what may be ahead for Daredevil Season 3. Vincent D'Onofrio (Daredevil, Full Metal Jacket, Men in Black, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Cell) reflects on returning as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, breaking down the psychology, physicality, voice inspiration, and emotional foundation behind one of Marvel's most intimidating villains. The conversation explores Fisk's loneliness, rage, dark sense of humor, spirituality, and the Kingpin improvised “boo” scene, along with how comic book artists like David Mack helped shape his performance. Plus, Vincent drops a surprise, passionate casting pitch to join James Gunn's DC Universe as Swamp Thing! The interview also dives into the Daredevil: Born Again creative overhaul, with D'Onofrio discussing how he, Charlie Cox, and the creative team pushed to make the series feel more like a true Daredevil story. He talks about Marvel Studios' creative support, Kevin Feige, why Marvel reshot portions of Daredevil, and how the team had to “Frankenstein” what had already been shot to build a stronger version of the show. D'Onofrio also teases Daredevil Season 3, including more action, emotional journeys, and new territory involving Kingpin's childhood backstory, size, trauma, and the darkness that shaped Wilson Fisk. Based on the iconic Marvel Comics characters, Daredevil: Born Again continues the story of Matt Murdock / Daredevil (Charlie Cox — Stardust, Boardwalk Empire, The Theory of Everything) and Wilson Fisk / Kingpin as their mirrored obsessions with justice, control, morality, and the soul of New York City pull them deeper into conflict. The conversation also heads into DC territory as D'Onofrio opens up about his dream of playing Swamp Thing, why Alec Holland speaks to him emotionally, and what he would bring to James Gunn's DCU if given the chance. From Vincent D'Onofrio's Swamp Thing pitch to Marvel behind-the-scenes stories, Marvel snipers, Kingpin's dark psychology, and the future of Daredevil Season 3, this Reel Rejects interview offers a rare look inside one of the MCU's most unforgettable comic book performances. Savage explains how the U.S. feels like a replay of the Roaring '20s—corruption, excess, and a looming crash—citing national debt surpassing GDP and high gas prices in California. He compares HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" to today's "gangster capitalism" and then shares how Napoleon III serves as a cautionary tale about prosperity undone by war costs. Savage says he's alarmed by pressure on President Trump from pro-war talkers and the military-industrial complex to escalate the war in Iran, warning this could draw in Russia and China. He then reads from Mao's "Little Red Book" where Mao calls "democratic socialism" a road to communism. He concludes by condemning Bernie Sanders and the Communist Party while calling for divine help for America.

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 108th episode of VideoFuzzy titled "Tenuous Connections," reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. Plus, with this episode I celebrate cataloging disc 2000 in my Classic Collection. I open with my Fuzzy Feature, discussing "Plateau," a third-season episode of "Fringe" in which a neurological lab subject is suspected of committing murders via chain reactions and tenuous connections. I talk about "The Second Thousand," the pace of this project as I look back on nearly nine years of this cataloging effort, and the sorts of things I have to look forward to as the cataloging portion of this project is coming to a close. In Cross Connections, I track connections through the rather impressive back catalog of Michael Eklund, the lab subject in that episode of "Fringe." Also, Rachel Miner, Shawn Ryan, Ted Griffin, Adam Carrera, McG, Maggie Q, Shane West, Lyndsy Fonseca, Melinda Clarke, Linda Hamilton, Tim Curry, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Munn, Vanessa Williams, Kate Micucci, Jennifer Aniston, Michael Chiklis, Julie Benz, Rhea Perlman, William Shatner, Nicole Sullivan, Will Sasso, Tom Stashwick, Missi Pyle, Cybill Shepherd, Jean Smart, Sam Pancake, Tim Bagley, Steve Austin, Nicole Richie, Alex O'Laughlin, Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park, Chi McBride, Jorge Garcia, Masi Oka, Ian Anthony Dale, Scott Caan, D.B. Sweeney, Clea Duvall, Zeljko Ivanek, Lawrence Pressman, Michael Cristofer, Will Arnett, David Cross and Russell Tovey. In "Fond Reflections," I am joined by longtime friend and friend of the pod Marc Bailey, also known as Grailwolf, in a farewell to Nicholas Brendon, who we said goodbye to this month. Brendon's strongest presence in my media collection was as Xander Harris in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," as well as a principal role in "Kitchen Confidential" and a recurring role in "Criminal Minds." In my Classic Collection [VHS-to-DVD transfers], I celebrated cataloging discs 1976 through 2000 with a detailed discussion of what I was finding in this set, with comments on "Terriers," "Nikita," a Trident commercial that caught my eye, an IFC documentary called "Portraits of Braddock," "Mad Men," "Rubicon," Stephen Colbert cosplaying Peter Sellers' character Doctor Strangelove, clip shared to VideoFuzzy's Instagram. Also, "Hung," "Covert Affairs," "The Closer," "Chuck," "The Event," "Criminal Minds," "Cougar Town," "$#*! My Dad Says," "Boardwalk Empire," "Grey's Anatomy," "Glee," "Raising Hope," "No Ordinary Family," Aaron Sorkin and "The Social Network," "The Good Guys," "Monty Python's Flying Circus" and "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret." In Book Reports, comments on Caleb Carr's "Surrender, New York"; Katheryn Harkup's "A is for Arsenic: The Poisons of Agatha Christie"; Caroline Crampton's "A Body Made of Glass" and M.C. Beaton's "Agatha Raisin and The Vicious Vet." In my Current Collection [direct to digital], I added Marilyn Manson's video "God is in the TV" (1999), as well as "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (1975), "The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again" (2016), "Desperately Seeking Susan" (1985), "Who's That Girl?" (1987), "Dick Tracy" (1990), "A League of Their Own" (1992), "The Crazy World of Julius Vrooder" (1974), "Heretic" (2024) and "Mister Sterling" which I found posted to Margaret X's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@margaretx6030. Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comToday I'm honored to introduce you all to: Satanic ritual abuse, sex trafficking, and Harvey Weinstein survivor and whistleblower, acclaimed actress, artist and painter, and a brilliant woman who has risked her life to shine a light on the darkness of her life and the lives of other victims and survivors: Paz de la Huerta A little bit about Paz and what we will be talking about today: In the glittering yet treacherous shadows of Hollywood, where dreams collide with darkness, Paz emerges as a beacon of unyielding resilience - a survivor who has transformed unimaginable hell into a powerful call for justice and artistic rebirth. Born on September 3, 1984, in New York City, Paz's life has been a whirlwind of triumph, trauma, and tenacious comeback. The daughter of a women's rights activist mother - who we will be referring to as Judith - and a Spanish duke and rancher father descended from nobility; Paz grew up in the artistic heart of Tribeca. From a young age, her world was steeped in creativity and privilege - her mother rented apartments at 311 Greenwich Street, including one to Miramax during Paz's teenage years. But beneath the facade lay profound struggles.By 14, Paz had already launched her acting career, earning acclaim for her role as Mary Agnes in The Cider House Rules, a Miramax production. Paz's ascent continued with roles in films like A Walk to Remember and the HBO series Boardwalk Empire, where she captivated audiences and became a focal point of Season 2. In 2010, at a Golden Globes afterparty for Blue Valentine, Weinstein - who produced the film - forced his way into her Greenwich Street apartment and raped her - repeating the violent assault weeks later. The trauma compounded in 2011 on the set of Nurse 3D, where a stunt vehicle struck Paz, dragging her 10 feet and causing severe injuries. Surgery by neurosurgeon Aaron Filler in 2013 relieved the pain, but he later inflicted a brain injury in 2016 amid lawsuits. Her health spiraled: overdoses, miscarriages (one induced by a handler), and false hospitalizations orchestrated by her mother and godmother. Paz has shared heart-brokenly that her mother, Judith, trafficked her to Weinstein, spied on her via connected apartments, and stole her earnings, leaving her penniless while living lavishly.Paz's life is a testament to unbreakable fortitude. From Tribeca's streets to Hollywood's heights and depths, she reminds us that truth, art, and courage can conquer even the darkest lies and crimes. As she rebuilds - acting, painting, and advocating - Paz inspires us to speak out, heal, and reclaim our power. The siren survives, and her voice echoes eternally.DONATE TO PAZ'S GOFUNDME: https://www.gofundme.com/f/justice-for-paz-fundraiser-for-spanish-criminal-lawyers-andCONNECT WITH PAZ:TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@paz.de.la.huertaIG: https://www.instagram.com/thefugitive1984/CONNECT W/ EMMA:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@imaginationpodLead to GoldThis is what wellness looks like in real life - no social media BS. ✨Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the show

Send us a textOn this episode of The Fixate & Binge Podcast, host Joseph Curdy sits down with novelist J.L. Flannery, whose debut novel 'Trouble in Atlantic City' plunges readers into the grit, glamour, and danger of 1927 Atlantic City -- at the height of Prohibition. Drawing inspiration from meticulous research and HBO's BOARDWALK EMPIRE, Flannery blends history and fiction to bring bootleggers, speakeasies, and political corruption to life on the page. We dive into the painstaking research behind the novel, Flannery's fascination with America' Prohibition era (from across the pond in England), and the timeless allure of Atlantic City's underworld. Along the way, we explore the blurred lines between history and imagination, the tremendous influence of Boardwalk Empire on Flannery's novel and the ingenious way readers are presented with two competing narratives on the truth.Joe also shares his Letterboxd review for SOVEREIGN -- which must be seen!Thank you for listening! Kevin Csolak shares his journey from growing up in his mom's New Jersey dance studio to starring as Tulsa in the Broadway revival of Gypsy. He opens up about performing alongside Audra McDonald and Danny Burstein, the artistic influence of the live orchestra, and how the cast is breathing new life into a classic. Kevin also reflects on what it means to approach each show with intention and curiosity—even months into the run. He takes us behind the scenes of his whirlwind audition for Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, including the surreal moment of dancing in front of the director himself. Plus, he recalls the unexpected overlap between his commercial dance career and Broadway—like performing at the Super Bowl with Justin Timberlake just hours before starting Mean Girls rehearsals. Throughout, Kevin shares insight into how rejection can fuel reinvention, and why staying creatively sharp is non-negotiable. Kevin Csolak is a Broadway, TV, and film actor known for playing Tulsa in Gypsy, Diesel in West Side Story, and Aaron in Mean Girls. His screen work includes roles on Jessica Jones, Boardwalk Empire, Animal Kingdom, and the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room.
