But what happens next? For Henry and FSG, is there a way that they can recover from the damage they have caused? And if not, how should fans respond and where should their anger be directed? Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Atomistic Simulation & Energy Group at MIT, Asegun Henry, discusses his research and how it may hold the key to moving the needle on climate change. In this episode, you will learn: How heat is transferred between atoms, what factors heat transfer mechanisms are dependent upon, and what happens at extremely hot temperatures    How electricity can be stored as heat in the “sun in a box” technology being developed by Henry and his group What benefits are conferred by liquid metals for transferring heat When you heat a pot of water, what's actually happening? What's behind those boiling bubbles…what processes and principles lead to your observations? It may sound like a rather simple question, but there's probably more to it than you think. In fact, this was one of the questions that led Professor Asegun Henry into the field of research involving heat transfer, high temperatures, and energy. For Henry, it took awhile for him to get a straight answer to these questions, but today's show begins with exactly that. Also discussed are the two projects Henry and his group are currently working on, which include an energy storage technology that involves storing heat rather than electricity in order to achieve extremely low costs, and a CO2-free technological approach to hydrogen production. He provides an in-depth explanation of the physics and chemistry involved, and the solar energy and other commercial applications of this research. Learn more by visiting https://ase.mit.edu/. A new significant other can put a lot of strain on a friendship, though Evan and Beth can say with confidence that they haven't allowed such to affect their ability to podcast together. For Henry and Eliza, however, it's a different story. The jolly ginger giantess suffers from an attention deficit disorder, and the rebranding wunderkind must determine for himself whether or not all women truly have green eyes. This week things are low on sizzle, but the stakes are high, so tune in to see what's happening on this four-year-old sitcom!

Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast and Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver spoons Podcas

Hey Punky Peeps, I’m your host Angela Bowen and welcome to another episode of Punky Power: An Unoffical Punky Brewster Podcast. Today I’ll be discussing S2E15: Girls Will Be Boys which aired on January 12, 1986. In this episode Punky receives a remote-controlled race car as a gift. She wants to take it to the racing track, but they do not allow girls to compete there. Time for my Brandon Tail Wag Episode Rating: I’m giving it 3 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags 1. For Punky going undercover to compete in a boys only race. 2. For Mike coming to Punky’s aid when henry doesn’t want her to compete in the race and wants her to be more like a girl. 3. For Henry coming around at the end of the race and telling her he’s proud of her. I knocked two Tail Wags off. 1. For Henry in the beginning telling Punky she cant have the car because she’s a girl and forbidding her to race and focus on being a girl and not a tomboy. 2. For the high amount of sexism in this episode from Henry, Allen, Richmond and his Dad. It was gross and annoying. Time for Punky’s Principles; I feel girls should be able to at least do what men can do if anything to give their all, not to prove anything but to have the chance to compete and give something their all. Well, join me tomorrow when I discuss a special Halloween episode S2E10: Love Thy Neighbor. Thank you! :::   Slow Travel in Europe with Kids Meet the Harrisons. They just spent a year slow traveling in Europe with kids. Henry is a filmmaker and Mel is a writer, and their slow Europe family travel trip took them to 13 countries in the course of 12 months. Their journey started in Florence, Italy. From there, they visited Germany, Scotland, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and many others before returning home to Livingston, Montana in the USA. Family Travel in Europe The Harrison's original family travel plan was to buy an RV and travel in North America. But eventually, their plan evolved into spending one year of slow travel in Europe with their children. Why slow travel in Europe with kids? For Henry, the history of the places they'd visit held a lot of appeal. For Mel, the outdoor opportunities were enticing. They write about both on their blog (link below). Family travel in Europe offers lots of learning experiences for curious families, but it can be expensive as a vacation. Slow travel in Europe with kids also costs more than places like Southeast Asia, but when you slow travel, expenses can drop. Europe with Kids: Apartment Rentals & Destinations How can you make slow travel in Europe with kids less expensive? Stay in apartment rentals instead of hotels. Henry and Mel talk about staying in apartment rentals and talk about what they might take with them next time. Their suggestions may surprise you. For example, one was a knife sharpener. Why a knife sharpener? Because many Airbnb & other apartment rentals in Europe have sub-par cookware. (And not just in Europe, either). Bringing a knife sharpener means that you'll always have a sharp knife in the kitchen. Considering slow travel in Europe with children? If so, then tune in as we discuss homeschooling, the Schengen zone, travel planning and other aspects of slow travel in Europe with kids. Listen up! Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast and Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver spoons Podcas

Hey there Punky Peeps, I’m your host Angela Bowen and welcome to another episode of Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Power Podcast. Today I’ll be discussing two more serious episodes from Season 2 S2E11: The Gift Punky befriends the school janitor who, in spite of her learning disability, is a gifted violin player. Which aired on November 24, 1985 and S2E12: Milk Does A Body Good Punky and Cherie learn that a girl who moved into the building recently was kidnapped by her divorced father, and they are both living in the building under assumed names. Which aired on December 1, 1985. This episode shows a young Candace Cameron from Full House. I’m giving it 5 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags. 1. Props given to Bonnie Urseth the actress who played Linda. She did a fabulous job portraying a mentally handicapped adult. 2. For Punky for showing kindness to Linda and being her friend. 3. For Henry who taught Punky to like Linda for who she is and not because she feels sorry for her. 4. For Mike for stomping out Allen’s rude comment to Linda and making him understand what he did was wrong and for giving him the 3 page paper assignment on the Special Olympics and making him read it in front of the class. He made an example out of Allen. You don’t treat people like that. 5. For Mike helping Linda share her gift when he realizes her musical talent. He treats her with respect and doesn’t talk down to her. I’m giving this episode 4 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags: 1. The show dealing with the subject of a missing child in a serious manner. 2. Candace Cameron acts the heck out of this episode. She can seem cute and innocent but when she discovers her father’s been lying to her, she turns on a dime and demands to know the truth. 3. Henry and Betty taking this matter to heart when they discover the milk carton with Julie/Jennifer’s face on it. Henry immediately goes on the offense after Mr. Whitney explains why he took his daughter. He tells him that what he did was out of selfishness not love. 4. Punky and Cherie being so welcoming in befriending Julie. And how they wanted to help her when her situation became dire after she discovered her face on the milk carton. I had to knock a tail wag off because honestly Betty should have been watching those girls making that cake, so that way she could step in and make a correction and she could have seen the milk carton sooner and decided the best way to break it to Julie instead of the girls looking at Julie suspiciously and then shoving it in her face like hey, this is you right, why is your picture on here? I want to give a sincere thank to all you listeners out there whether you listen to this podcast on Itunes or Soundcloud or any other listening platforms that you may use to hear this podcast. I love giving you the episode recaps of Punky Brewster every week joining me as I go into full detail describing her many adventures and shenanigans with Henry, Brandon and her friends as well as my occasional running commentary and childhood stories. In this episode Punky is afraid that Henry will be the next victim of a widely publicized murder spree. This is kind of a dark episode. But the next episode S2E15: Girls Wanna Be Boys makes up for it by being a fun episode when Punky receives a remote-controlled race car as a gift. She wants to take it to the racing track, but they do not allow girls to compete there. Wow and it’s a bit sexiest too. Alright, well, you all have a wonderful week and I’ll be back next Sunday with an all new podcast episode.

Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast and Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver spoons Podcas

Hey there Punky Peeps, This time around I’ll be discussing two serious episodes the first one is S2E8: Just Say No which aired on October 27, 1985 and this is the episode that dealt with Punky and Cherie being offered drugs by a group of 5th grade girls who call themselves the Chiclets, yes just like the candy. Time for my Brandon Tail Wag Episode Rating: I’m giving this episode 5 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags 1. For approaching the subject of the temptation of drug use in a way that wasn’t too scary for young kids but gave a positive message. 2. For showing Punky and Cherie so eager to join an older girls group that they began to mimic their dress and slang and how easily the older girls had influence over Punky and Cherie and showing Punky and Cherie trying hard to resist the urge to try drugs. 3. For Henry and Betty vetoing the idea of Punky and Cherie hanging out with 6th graders being they’re 9 years old. This was before Chiclets were revealed to be drug users. 4. For Mike being the kind of teacher that Punky could turn to in a tough situation especially when she was afraid to come to Henry on the matter of being tempted to take drugs. Mike was open and honest with her and explaining peer pressure to her and giving her the Just Say No booklet. 5. For the end montage showing Henry and Betty getting involved with the kids for the Just Say No Campaign. I really wish we could have seen Punky and Cherie tell Henry and Betty about the whole drug temptation, sure they’d get mad, but at least they’d be made aware of what’s going on. In S2E9: The Search which aired on November 10, 1985. In this episode Punky has something in common with her teacher, Mike Fulton: they were both abandoned by their mothers. They work together to try and find the whereabouts of their respective families. I’m giving this episode 5 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags. 1. For the set up of the episode a classroom assignment of the family tree leading to Punky and Mike searching for their Moms. 2. For showing the Henry and Punky going through all the records searching for information and leading Punky to admit to Henry how much she misses her Mom, but at least one good thing came out of the search finding Mike’s Mom. 3. Punky taking it upon herself to go to Mike’s mom and convince her to see her son. She brings up her missing mom and how she would give anything to have one moment with her and she’d make that moment last forever. 4. Mike and his mom Lois meeting face to face and how sad and joyous it is all at the same time. They both learn some hard truths about each other. 5. Punky giving us an update on Mike meeting his new family and hoping one day she and her mom can be reunited, but also thanks God for Henry coming into her life. Join me next Sunday on October 22 when I discuss S2E11: The Gift which aired on November 24, 1985 in this episode Punky befriends the school janitor who, in spite of her learning disability, is a gifted violin player. Welcome Punky Peeps to a brand new season of Punky Brewster and Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast. Today we’ll rolling out Season 2 Episode 1 The K.O. which aired on September 15, 1985. I’m your host Angela Bowen. Now before we step into the journey of Season 2 I just want to give a thank you to those listeners out there they ones who have been listening since the beginning and the new listeners that may be just tuning in. Get ready for a fun filled season as we see Punky, Henry and her friends navigate some tough waters this season and learn some hard hitting but valuable lessons about, people, friendships, working together, and life. Here’s my Brandon tail wag episode rating . I’m giving it five out of five Brandon tail wags. 1. For Mike’s appearance as Punky’s fourth grade teacher. 2. For Betty and Henry’s golfing outfits they looked so cool 3. For Henry’s telling Punky his story about facing down a bully 4. For Brandon at the gym with his boxing gloves on there’s really starting to humanize him now. 5. For Punky standing up to Moose and the other kids rallying behind her. Punky’s Principles I don’t agree with violence, yes it’s easy to tell someone to walk away but, once you find yourself in their shoes only then can you see it’s not always easy to do the right thing sometimes. I’ve never been in a physical fight before and knowing myself as an adult I would use my words not my fists, words cut deeper than physical blows. Wounds will heal, but words stick and can do serious damage. Also if you enjoy this podcast please rate, review and subscribe so you won’t miss an episode. In this week's Soul Music Marianne Faithfull recalls the French Love song which went on to inspire Elvis's 60's hit, 'I Can't Help Falling in Love with You'. 'Plaisir d'Amour' is the classical French love song which somehow found its way through 18th century orchestration (Hector Berlioz) and 1960's folk revival, to an unexpected re-invention into the Elvis hit 'I Can't' Help Falling in Love with You'. It's been recorded by Marianne Faithfull and busked on the streets of Paris by 'The Gruffalo' author Julia Donaldson. It has also touched the lives of former American Military Academy Freshman Andrew Scott and recently married couple Henry (76) and Christine Wallace (82) who fell in love on a moonlit New Year's Eve. Written in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini, Plaisir d'Amour muses on the pleasures and pains of love and was inspired by a poem which appears in Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian's novel 'Célestine'. For 17 year old Marianne Faithfull it was a song of innocence, recorded in a tiny booth in the old Decca studios whilst happily pregnant with her first child. Meanwhile, author Julia Donaldson and husband Malcolm busked it on the streets of Paris. It was the summer of 1969 and police hid in alleyways, still fearful of students following the 1968 riots. As the classical French melody was adopted by Elvis and transformed into 'I Can't Help Falling in Love with You', West Point Military Academy Freshman Andrew Scott learnt to pick it's tune on guitar. It's a song that went on to win the heart of his wife of now 20 years. For Henry and Christine Wallace, it summed everything up "It was what I was looking for, someone to share my life and the words 'take my whole life too was in tune with what I wanted'. Produced By Nicola Humphries.
