Today, join Scott and Mark with this episode's guest, Brandon Black, as they talk about comedy, how he got started, and his whole thing going forward as a comedian. When it comes to writing his material, Brandon opens up about how he prefers to just go for whatever subject possible, even if that could include anything that hits close to home. Anything for the laughs.Because of the pandemic, many industries were hit and were forced to adjust – including live comedy shows. For Brandon, restricting live events and resorting to online shows has been a real challenge. Far different from the experience people get from live comedy stand-ups, for him, any online show could lack the energy and connection comedians feed off from their live audience. As you get deeper into the randomness, listen as Brandon and your hosts talk more about the whole Funny AF experience, the etiquette needed in live shows, cryptocurrency and mining, Apple products, and so much more crazy theories and stuff!About Brandon Black:Brandon Black is the unofficial-official #HoodHumor king reigning straight out of Los Angeles, who continues to sell out The Hollywood Improv, and he is next to shine on the REVOLT Studios stage. Quickly making a name for himself, Black has garnered online and onstage attention as one of the city's best performers. Brandon Black is an L.A. native-born and raised near Florence and Normandie in the city's South Central section. He first realized he was funny while roasting classmates during lunch at Westchester High School.Even though he was a natural comedian, he was focused on music. He didn't pursue stand-up comedy until many years later after running into a friend outside a club who encouraged him to do an open mic. Some of his influences are the late Richard Pryor, Bernie Mac, and Patrice O'Neal. Other influences include Dave Chapelle and Mike Epps.Outline of the episode:•[05:55] The pandemic made me do online shows.•[07:54] On upcoming shows and projects.•[11:10]The story of being a Big Black Sign.•[12:38]Experiencing Funny AF.•[17:20]Is personal life a sensitive subject source for comedy material?•[20:12]On meeting Warren G.•[25:13]Thoughts on how to enjoy live events; Live show etiquette.•[29:38]What Apple doesn't allow you to do.•[35:21] The better pick/brand for mining.•[45:28]Theories theories theories; Should we shelve this episode?•[50:37]What could be going around in prisons.•[57:55]Trash Talk Segment; Brandon's last google search.Resources:Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/iambrandonblack/Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/iambrandonblack/Follow The Brandon Black Show on:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-brandon-black-show/id1545629334Check out Offical AmigosPC Merch at:https://teespring.com/stores/amigospcCatch AmigosPC on:Website:https://www.amigospc.net/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/TwoandahalfAmigos/Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/amigospc/Twitter:https://twitter.com/AmigosPCListen to the AmigosPC podcast on the following platforms:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-3-amigos-podcast/id1440367116https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-two-and-a-half-amigos_1https://www.iheart.com/podcast/256-two-and-a-half-amigos-31154017/

We've have been fortunately to have several deeply moving conversations with Brandon about the role of leaders over the years, and I'm very glad to have been able to create another one here to share with you all.Brandon was born and raised in Apartheid South Africa, and we begin our conversation recounting salient moments of his upbringing which framed his views of the world, viscerally confronting inequality of opportunity, access to resources and education that need not always constrain the realisation of human potential. From these early beginnings, he has devoted himself to the development of human potential and connection. His own leadership journey has taken him through tenures in Not-for-Profit, as a Youth Councillor for the City of Cape Town, and as the Australian Chair for a Global Youth Organisation. He now practices as a psycho-therapist, leadership facilitator and educator – including as a lecturer in Adaptive Leadership. He works with leaders to face the complex challenges they encounter to which there are no set-out, straightforward solutions. As such, we - as humans - are called on to adapt and adjust; to reconfigure our values, loyalties, perceptions and ways of doing things. This requires us to relate and interact with each other in new ways. For Brandon, this is part of leadership. He works with people to develop their relational leadership capacities so that we can meet each other and work with each other in new ways.Key out-takes from this episode;- Seeking to develop human potential and connection are the bedrock of the kind of leadership we need today- So much of the world is crying out for a new kind of leadership- This change needs to happen rapidly and radically- That in the world of Adaptive Leadership, leadership is not a noun, it is a verb. It is something we do, and as such is available to us all.- In Adaptive Leadership we do not refer to leaders, only leadership- Adaptive Leadership is a change management process. We must ask ourselves what is going to need to occur to cause us to emerge in a different form to the one we entered in.- We can get seduced by authority in so many different ways.- Pay attention to the authority relationships in your lifeResources mentioned in this episodeRead – Leadership on the Line, by Marty Linsky and Ronald HeifetzGet in touch with Brandon via any of these points of contact; My website - www.brandonsrot.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/brandonsrot/Feel free to call or email and Brandon would love to chat, perhaps even have a virtual coffeeAs always, great thanks and appreciation to the team who contributed to bringing Better World Leaders to you;To Brendan Ward for production of all audio recordings and composition and performance of original music throughout each episode. To Cooper and the team at RadioHub studios for technical support and creative guidance during the episodes that are recorded face-to-face. Visit https://DeleflorTeachings.com/futuring to learn more about how to design your desired futures and receive a futuring journey audio meditation in either English or Spanish.I have recently talked with Brandon. He is truly one of the most embodied, spiritual, and grounded beings that I've met throughout my life. I met him in a Mastermind speaking in Austin; and his message really moved me because I think the message that he has is for businesses and entrepreneurs, spiritual people, and any human being whose time has come. Brandon grew up in Texas and is the son of a professional bull rider. He grew up, playing sports and being a sports prodigy per se. Latin American culture is a culture that he loves and is dear to his heart. He had very fond memories of Mexico, especially because it was a place where he thinks he was very successful. His tennis career was a real blessing for him in many ways. But the biggest one was because he got to experience at an early age that the outside success does not fix what's going on inside of him. At the age of 20, Brandon played in Wimbledon, and that was his dream as a little boy. He said that Wimbledon did not fulfill or complete him and that it left him in a place of great pain because of all the work that he put in. For him, having the external success that feels good and that is in connection with his soul, is the kind of success that he wants. He calls it ‘connected success’. That led Brandon to be a pastor. He was a senior pastor at a very early age because he had a communication gifting and he has the ability to draw large amounts of people. He was able to build a congregation to 750 people coming every week to hear him speak. He created a school of transformation. He loves to lead leaders so he stepped away from being a pastor. Because for him, his beliefs started to change and it was no longer in alignment with the denomination that he was in. Now, Brandon took his school of transformation and created a coaching company where he had been coaching executives, entertainers, and professional athletes, for the last 10 years. For Brandon, the hardest part is to step into value. Oftentimes, you have to step away from familiar structures and step into an unknown land. He thinks that taking that step takes a lot of courage, but that's where the great value is. He sees his future as a spokesperson for the great liberation of the heart. He knows that emotional abandonment is the greatest pain on the planet right now. He said he feels a deep calling within his soul to resolve that and also transmute that energy for great clarity and a great elevation of consciousness on the planet. Moreover, Brandon wanted everyone to know that the power is inside all of us. It's not in a church. It's not in a religion. The power is inside of ourselves. He thinks the greatest honor to someone like Jesus is to embody the power that is within you, not to need something outside of yourself to fulfill you completely. He also shared that one thing that keeps going off inside of him is the idea of guilt and shame. He believes that someone's personal power is not in the denial of their guilt and shame, but in the acceptance and love of their guilt and shame. What is inside of you is your most powerful energy. And it is not something to be denied. It's something to be partnered with. Our discussion ended with this phrase: the spirit of adoption. Brandon noted that we are no longer orphans. We are true sons and daughters of an abundant universe. To learn more about how to design your desired futures and receive a futuring journey audio meditation in either English or Spanish, visit https://DeleflorTeachings.com/futuring

[2:30] Brandon shares about his business history and what led him to launch a franchise system. [4:13] Very early on, Brandon recognized that vacation rentals posed a great opportunity for a franchise model. [5:24] Grand Welcome is conveniently integrated into all of the major vacation rental companies such as VRBO and AirBnB. [5:55] The first thing Brandon did when looking at franchising Grand Welcome was to map out what their expectations would be of their franchisee and vice versa. [7:11] Right now, the franchisor headquarters is located in Nevada for Grand Welcome. [8:05] For Brandon, success in a couple years for now would be a good profit and return for them as well as their franchisees. He would also like to see the first five or ten locations in place. [11:13] The key duties a Grand Welcome franchisee would be to manage their vendors and communicate with their property owners. [13:16] Brandon recognizes that the vacation rental industry is becoming more professionalized, and as a result, he thinks the industry is on the uptrend. [16:57] Something that surprised Brandon when franchising Grand Welcome was the level of restructure that was required to make it a scalable business. One of the things that Jehovah’s Witnesses do poorly is supporting and looking out for the mental and emotional well-being of their members. Cassie experienced multiple changes in her life where she needed to be seen and helped within the congregation in a real way and they never managed to connect to her until later in life when they reached out in a judicial manner. She was ultimately saved in many ways by a high school cooking competition and the passion that she found. Cassie’s brother suffered in his life as well and isn’t with us today to tell his story, but we honor him by releasing this story today. For Brandon…. Discussing The Last Black Man in San Francisco Brandon finally gave into Joi and Ro's badgering to hunt down a theater and watch the The Last Black Man in San Francisco before it left theaters (at the time of recording, Kriss still hadn't accepted that Ro is always right in these matters possibly because The LBMiSF's primary marketing drive made it look at least tangentially like a "Black film") and the trio gathered to talk about the film's themes and different viewing experience.  Jimmie Fails and Jonathan Majors in THE LAST BLACK MAN IN SAN FRANCISCO, an A24 release. Credit: David Moir / A24 The Last Black Man in San Francisco, directed by Joe Talbot, is the story of Jimmie Fails's obsession with an old Victorian home his family used to live in located in the heart of San Francisco. Jimmie's lived his whole life fixated on the home he's quick to tell people his grandfather built. Accompanied in all things by his best friend Mongomery Allen aka Mont (portrayed by Jonathan Majors with best-be-nominated-for-best-supporting-actor-level-talent) Jimmie comes up with a scheme gain ownership of his childhood home again. Mont and his unique approach to processing the world around him is both the voice of reason and unfailingly supportive friend. The LBMiSF is a journey of self-discovery that touches on grief, trauma, family (blood and found), love, masculinity, and truth.  There's no way to walk away from The LBMiSF without a wholly new perspective on homelessness, addiction recovery, ownership, and the duty each person owes to the city they call home.  Targeting The Black Male Gaze in The Last Black Men In San Francisco Although The LBMiSF builds its narrative around the real-life experiences of Jimmie Fails, and his love affair with his former family home on Fillmore, it's messaging is both overt and nuanced with a deliberate focus on the connections and relationships between Black Men overlayed on an evocative backdrop chronicling the gentrification of San Francisco. For Ro and Joi, this film struck a chord on several levels but didn't feel "aimed" at them. For Brandon, it was a moving narrative that made him feel uniquely seen. All three agree, that 1) it makes no sense this film didn't have a larger marketing push and 2) though mileage may vary when it comes to what people think this film's about The Last Black Man in San Francisco's a must watch.   Like what you hear? We don't usually make a big deal about the Oscars on Special Sauce, but when I saw the brilliant Oscar-nominated documentary short Knife Skills, I knew I wanted to talk about it. The film shows what happens when Cleveland chef/restaurateur Brandon Chrostowski opens Edwins, a white-tablecloth French restaurant staffed almost entirely by recently released convicts who are reentering the workforce. As I previously wrote on Serious Eats, Knife Skills is funny, deeply moving, and brimming with humanity. So this week, in anticipation of this weekend's Oscars ceremony, I invited Brandon and the filmmaker behind the documentary, Tom Lennon, a longtime friend of mine, to come on Special Sauce to talk about their extraordinary collaboration.   For Brandon, a hardscrabble childhood that nearly ended in incarceration was saved by a demanding chef and mentor he worked for in Detroit when he was 18. "I finally found a place that would push back on whatever energy level I would exert.... There was always something to do, and there were so many personalities. It just fit with the way my body and mind are wired." While working for the late, great Charlie Trotter in Chicago, he learned that "you can do anything with what you have, no matter what the situation or how deep or how tough."    With Edwins, and the Leadership Institute he created alongside it, Brandon set a lofty goal: "changing the face of reentry, and that's going to take a couple of lifetimes, but I knew that the right lens could accelerate that." That lens turned out to be Tom Lennon's, and Knife Skills was the result.    Was the making of Knife Skills a political statement? Tom says no: "I didn't have any agenda. I just stumbled into this, it sounded like a good story, and I just filmed what I found. I think that that was an advantage. I'm not sitting here preaching to you about a political assertion I'm already confident in. That's not what it is. I'm just having you encounter a bunch of people in a very, very dramatic and difficult situation at a very difficult stage in their lives...really anxious, vulnerable, complex people who are yearning to not screw up again.... Then you, the viewer, I'm asking you to think about what you saw."   Take Marley, who says in Knife Skills that, in the throes of her drug addiction, "I'd wake up and be so mad to be alive." Marley has her ups and downs in the film, but all Brandon can do is provide a path to forgiveness: "I can't tell someone to be ready for this opportunity. What I can do is always leave that door open." Thinking about the process, Brandon told me: "When you're demanding excellence, you understand that maybe someone's not going to be able to do that, but can they do that for a moment, and can we make that moment a little longer each day, so that they can do that for an entire shift?.... If you get the right heart in there, that has the right energy and affection, that will breed hospitality. We'll work on the finer points, but just give me someone who cares and is going to work hard."   When you listen to this moving episode of Special Sauce, you can't help but notice how honest Tom and Brandon are, much like the film itself. You can watch the film here. And after you do, I bet you'll join me in rooting for Knife Skills when you watch the Oscars.    .......................... Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast and Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver spoons Podcas

Happy Halloween Punky Peeps, I hope you have a great day and I thought in honor of this spooky holiday I’d review S2E10: Love Thy Neighbor which aired on November 17, 1985. In this episode On Halloween, Punky raises the ire of Mrs. Peevey, a cantankerous old woman who lives in the building, simply by trying to be her friend. Time for my Brandon Tail Wag Episode Rating: I’m giving it 4 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags 1. For the kids awesome costumes Rambo, Tony the Tiger and I don’t understand why Punky wanted to be Gidget since she was popular in the 50’s. 2. For Brandon and Henry dressed alike. That was cute and funny how people reacted. 3. For Mike and Punky coming to Mrs. Peevy’s aid when she was hurt and Mrs. Peevy discovering that not all children are bad like the one that knocked her down. 4. For Mrs. Peevy coming over at the end and looking nice complete with a new look and new hip and getting back into dancing. I knocked one tail wag off because of the kid’s playing a trick on Mrs. Peevy just because was mean to them and ruining their good time. Punky Principles: What I got from this episode. You all I’m sure know the saying respect your elders. While that may have been true way back when, now I believe you give respect where it is given not because you feel you’ve earned due to how many years you’ve been on this earth. I’m respectful to people but if you treat me like crap and talk down top me you better believe I’m not going to respect you. Ami Foster who played Margaux Kramer celebrated a birthday yesterday August 5th and Soleil Moon Frye Miss Punky Brewster herself celebrated her birthday on August 6. So Happy Birthday to you both. I hope you had amazing birthdays with your families and here’s to many more. Well today I will be reviewing Season 2 Episode 2 Punky’s Tree House which aired on September 22, 1985. In this episode Punky wants to build a tree house she and Mike have to resort to reverse psychology to get the rest of the gang on board to help make her tree house drawing a reality. Time for my Brandon Tail Wag Episode rating I’m giving this episode 5 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags. 1. For Punky and Mike bringing everyone together to build the tree house. 2. For Mike teaching the kids about nouns and verbs through use of puppets over workbooks. 3. For Mike telling Punky not to give up on her dreams. 4. For the cool Brandon elevator invention 5. For Brandon’s chef’s outfit. Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast and Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver spoons Podcas

Welcome Punky Peeps to a brand new season of Punky Brewster and Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast. Today we’ll rolling out Season 2 Episode 1 The K.O. which aired on September 15, 1985. I’m your host Angela Bowen. Now before we step into the journey of Season 2 I just want to give a thank you to those listeners out there they ones who have been listening since the beginning and the new listeners that may be just tuning in. Get ready for a fun filled season as we see Punky, Henry and her friends navigate some tough waters this season and learn some hard hitting but valuable lessons about, people, friendships, working together, and life. Here’s my Brandon tail wag episode rating . I’m giving it five out of five Brandon tail wags. 1. For Mike’s appearance as Punky’s fourth grade teacher. 2. For Betty and Henry’s golfing outfits they looked so cool 3. For Henry’s telling Punky his story about facing down a bully 4. For Brandon at the gym with his boxing gloves on there’s really starting to humanize him now. 5. For Punky standing up to Moose and the other kids rallying behind her. Punky’s Principles I don’t agree with violence, yes it’s easy to tell someone to walk away but, once you find yourself in their shoes only then can you see it’s not always easy to do the right thing sometimes. I’ve never been in a physical fight before and knowing myself as an adult I would use my words not my fists, words cut deeper than physical blows. Wounds will heal, but words stick and can do serious damage. Also if you enjoy this podcast please rate, review and subscribe so you won’t miss an episode. The more rates and reviews this podcast gets the easier it is for other people to see it’s out there so tell your friends and family. This is a family friendly podcast to be listened to by all.
