Episode 88 is a conversation with Tony Erba. Tony is a veteran of the Cleveland punk and hardcore scene, doing time in a number of bands, Face Value, Fuck You Pay Me, Nine Shocks Terror and many more. In this episode we step a little bit away from the hardcore world and talk about hard rock, boogie rock and not having guilty pleasures when it comes to music. This was a lot of fun to record, Tony is hilarious and a great storyteller. Welcome back to Talk About the Passion.

Here's a little something different were doing on Rodes Live Podcast. I decided to go on a rant about the way I feel about some things. Some things are opinionated from my perspective, but I have a low tolerance for BS. Especially, in situations when people try to get over and push their ideologies on you in most cases. Time is valuable so this episode is called "Fuck You Pay Me" that's it, that's all people. We talk a lot about the creator economy here on Decoder and one thing we've learned from all those conversations is that the creator economy is a market just like any other, with supply and demand, but that it's also a market that is absolutely starved of information. So today I'm talking to Lindsey Lee Lugrin, the co-founder and CEO of a new platform called Fuck You Pay Me, which is an all-time great company name. FYPM is an app for creators to review and compare brand deals: what brands are paying, what it's like to work with them, and whether people would work with them again. It's kind of like Glassdoor or Yelp for influencers. Tony Erba is legendary (and much talked about) for his insane stage presence and incredible bands - from Face Value all the way through to Fuck You Pay Me, but of all the conversation, little is mentioned about how Tony makes a living and the role that work plays in his life. In this in-depth dive into the world of Mechanical Insulation, unions and Cleveland (along with some great music talk as well) we get into how a guy who just wanted to play in a band and tour incessantly looks back at it all - pride, accomplishments and regrets. Of course it's funny as hell as well. Enjoy! IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!!! What time of year is that you ask?… The post EPISODE 33: THIS IS HARDCORE FEST EPISODE- FEAT.MEMBERS OF SKAMDUST, FORESEEN, SAND, FUCK YOU PAY ME, THE GEEKS AND MORE!! appeared first on Cinepunx.
IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!!! What time of year is that you ask? Well, time for our very special THIS IS HARDCORE FEST EDITION!! We are hoping to make this our running tradition of setting up a table at the fest and asking folks to sit down for one to two questions and editing that into an episode for you all to enjoy! SOUND NOTES TO THE FRONT! Usually we address any and all sound issues at the end of the show notes, but we wanted to get at them first thing for a number of reasons. Recording at the fest is a LOT of fun, but it is a rough and tumble affair and it is easier to make mistakes then in a more controlled environment. So, the first thing you will notice is that our intro cuts short. That was a mistake of saving improperly, so we lose the meat of what Liam was saying, which of course doesn’t matter AT ALL, but we also missed out on all the thank you’s THANK YOU TO JOE AND CHRIS AND ALL THE STAFF OF THIS IS HARDCORE FEST FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN AND ALLOWING US TO BE A PART OF IT LIAM SAYS THANK YOU TO JOSH FOR DOING THIS BY HIMSELF MOSTLY WHILE LIAM WORKS FOR THE FEST AND WE BOTH HAVE TO SAY THANK YOU TO OFFICIAL AFFILIATED CINEPUNK JUSTIN LORE FOR EVEN HOSTING SOME OF THE INTERVIEWS, YOU ARE ON THE TEAM MAN Basically, Justin stepped in when Josh needed a break (WUSS) and helped out so we owe him, and he is a part of the podcast now, forever. The second reason we wanted to address sound issues immediately was to apologize to some of the guests on the show. We had issues this year with wind sheer on the mics, and some of you had significant portions of your interviews cut for just noise levels. Sorry! Anyone who would like to come BACK on the show and address something you said which got cut off, we are totally open to that. Hit us up! We also want to say THANK YOU to anyone and everyone who stopped by the table to talk to us! Below is a list of the folks who participated! PLEASE KEEP IN MIND-The following version of your name was patiently discerned by Josh from your handwriting, so if we spelled it wrong just let us know, but many of you do not seem to have full control of your limbs, based upon your handwriting abilities! The summer is slowly fading away, but Edgeland keeps on coming. This week on the show Bill dives deep, deep, deep into the vault of his teenage life to unearth a tune that hasn't been heard in civilized society for a long time. In the interview portion of the show Bill talks with Alec Faber of True Love and Freedom about the Michigan scene, the perception of Detroit, and his life as a Navy man. In the non edge column Tony Erba of Fuck You Pay Me returns for a third time to talk about Cecil the lion, getting back to vegetarianism, and why he is thankful the world hates Hulk Hogan. A great episode to say goodbye to July with.
This week on Turned Out A Punk, Damian sits down with one of his musical heroes: Cleveland hardcore legend Tony Erba!!!! Listen as Damian nerds out on Tony’s bands: Face Value, h100s, 9 Shocks Terror, Gordon Solie, and Mother Fuckers… Check out Tony's new band, Fuck You Pay Me! WARNING: MAY OFFEND SOME LISTENERS. Also touched on: - Being 11 years old and having his mind blown by AC/DC - The gateway of Ripper fanzine - The Dead Kennedys: the bringers of hardcore (again) - St. Valentines Records - The importance of the The Guns - LECK: The dumbest band that spawned a huge chunk of Cleveland - The PR genius of Dwid - Confront, and the dark side of straight edge - Integrity - "Never trust a hippie or a Juggalo" - The incomprehensible live insanity of the h100s - Getting run out of New Jersey - "The h100s with a different singer" - Damian geeking out about records - The greatness of Devour Records…. but not so much to be the label - The improvements made to the DIY infrastructure since the 90's. - PRO-WRESTLING TALK WITH THE KING OF WRESTLING HARDCORE!!!!!!! -Tons More!!!!!
The days keep getting shorter and soon darkness will full envelop our lives, but before that happens you can enjoy this episode of Edgeland to get your fill of straightedge propaganda. To start the show Bill tells a story about how straightedge and self preservation do not always go hand in hand. In the interview segment of the show Bill talks with Bob Wilson of Let Down, Mother of Mercy, and the FYA Fest. Bob talks about growing up in a small town, making some poor decisions when it comes to your own well being, and getting a fest to come together. In the non edge column Bill talks with Tony Erba of Face Value, 9 Shocks Terror, and Fuck You Pay Me. Tony discusses legendary Cleveland musician Michael Stanley, his love of obscure boogie rock, and rich straightedge kids. A very fun episode this week.
