(1) Josiah Osgood explains that in 64 BCE, Cato and Caesar briefly cooperated in a "murder court" targeting those who profited from Sulla's brutal proscriptions. Cato, driven by rectitude and a fear of strongmen, sought to return stolen wealth to the treasury. Caesar, a patrician rebuilding his family's prestige, presided over the court to establish his brand of justice and challenge the senatorial clique. This unique moment of alignment preceded their legendary feud. Both men were scarred by childhood civil wars, shaping Cato's pursuit of virtue and Caesar's ambition for popular authority.CARTHAGE

What if the very battles you’re trying to avoid the most… are the ones God wants to use to build you the most? In this powerful backstage conversation from the Ignite Men’s Impact Weekend, Drs. Zach and Tim Clinton sit down with former Force Recon Marine, best-selling author, MMA champion, and renowned leader, Chad Robichaux, to talk about resilience, courage, and the kind of strength that is forged through adversity. Chad’s story is marked by intense trials, hard seasons, and moments that could have broken him, but instead became the foundation for purpose. Together, we unpack what it means to stop running from adversity and start partnering with it: to see hardship not as something working against you, but something shaping you into the man you’re called to become. We also address one of the greatest threats facing men today: passivity.Chad shares why drifting, disengagement, and avoidance quietly destroy purpose, and how choosing courage, responsibility, and community can radically change the trajectory of your life. This conversation is a call to step up, to lean into discomfort, to embrace the process, to reject passivity, and to become the kind of man who is built through the fire, not in spite of it, but because of it. If you’ve been walking through a hard season, feeling stuck, or tempted to check out, this episode will challenge you to re-engage, reframe your adversity, and rediscover your purpose.Links: Visit Chad’s Website: https://chadrobichaux.com/ Watch/Listen to The Resilient Show: https://chadrobichaux.com/resilient-show Find Out More About The Mighty Oaks Foundation: https://www.mightyoaksprograms.org/ Purchase One of Chad’s Best-Selling Books: https://chadrobichaux.com/store Find Clinically Excellent, Distinctively Christian Help, Hope, & Healing Today: https://christiancareconnect.com/ Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

Today on Uncommon Sense, we're talking about “law enforcement” and why so many people no longer feel like laws are actually being enforced equally or consistently, especially when it comes to powerful and well-connected individuals connected to the Epstein scandal. We discuss the growing public frustration surrounding the unreleased and heavily redacted Epstein files, the lack of visible accountability for elite predators, and why so many Americans feel the justice system has failed women, children, and vulnerable people. We also talk about why local police departments, sheriffs, prosecutors, and public officials should be demanding full transparency and supporting the release of the complete unredacted Epstein files so the public can see the truth plainly. This episode also goes into the broader leadership crisis facing America and much of the world: weak leadership, fear of confrontation, and silence in the face of corruption. We discuss the need for stronger moral leadership, stronger families, stronger communities, and men willing to stand up publicly against evil instead of shrinking back from difficult conversations. If laws are not enforced equally, trust in institutions collapses. If justice is selective, people stop believing justice exists at all. It's time for courage, accountability, truth, and leadership again.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app

Happy Mother's Day to all of the incredible mothers out there. Today's episode is a deeper conversation about the urgent need for stronger, more biblical men and women in our culture, people willing to stand for truth, protect the vulnerable, and refuse to stay silent in the face of evil.We discuss the ongoing outrage surrounding the Epstein files, the lack of accountability for powerful people, and the broader cultural failure to protect victims from wicked and predatory individuals. But this conversation goes beyond headlines. It's about morality, courage, justice, faith, and what happens when societies stop valuing strong families, strong character, and biblical principles. This episode is ultimately about hope too, because evil does not win forever. Real justice matters, truth matters, and good people still have a responsibility to speak up.
The Hidden Demonic Trap Destroying Strong Men Byron Rodgers points to a hidden trap: false identity. When a man forgets who he is in God, every battle feels bigger than it is. Fear starts to sound like wisdom. Limitation starts to feel logical. And the enemy does not always need to destroy a man—sometimes he only needs to distract him long enough for him to live beneath his calling. That is why revelation matters. Time with God does more than comfort the soul. It sharpens perception. It exposes lies. It reminds a man that he is not fighting from defeat, but from authority. When spiritual intelligence wakes up, what once looked impossible begins to look different. Many battles change the moment identity becomes clear. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. What happens when a world-ranked fighter and coach to champions realizes that his toughest battle isn't in the cage, but within his own soul? In this episode, we sit down with Lance Gibson Senior—a veteran of the UFC and mixed martial arts, actor, and founder of The Fearless Way. Lance shares his incredible journey from overcoming racism in Canada to becoming a pioneer in the early days of MMA. We dive deep into the "26-year legacy" of his son, Lance Gibson Jr., who mirrored his father's historic knockout victory exactly 26 years later to the month. Lance also opens up about his transformative healing journey in the jungles of Peru, where he traded the physical armor of a "protector" for spiritual clarity and purpose. Whether you are looking to master your own resilience or seeking a deeper understanding of the "spiritual fighter," this conversation offers a roadmap for leading with calm confidence and purpose. Key Takeaways: · Calm Confidence: True fearlessness is leading with clarity and purpose, reframing past hardships into the foundation of current strength. · The Power of Legacy: The "26-year mirror" knockout achieved by Lance's son underscores the deep impact of generational discipline and shared values. · Healing the Protector: Strong individuals must periodically "drop their armor" to process grief and fatigue; seeking spiritual maintenance is essential to avoid burnout. · Vibrational Focus: Maintaining peak performance requires guarding your environment and tuning out external noise or social media negativity. · Integrated Mastery: Elite physical performance and deep spiritual practice are not mutually exclusive; they are mutually reinforcing components of a "spiritual warrior. When the United States and Israel launched a joint war on Iran two weeks ago, U.S. President Donald Trump urged Iranians to rise up and rid themselves of their tyrannical rulers. He seemed buoyed by his success in swiftly removing Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro in January. But the war in Iran has not progressed as smoothly as Trump might have liked. The authoritarian regime that runs the Islamic Republic remains firmly in place. The historian Stephen Kotkin, who is the Kleinheinz senior fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, has spent decades thinking about how these regimes function, how they survive, and how they come to an end. In “The Weakness of the Strongmen,” an essay in the January/February issue of Foreign Affairs, Kotkin anatomized authoritarianism, arguing that many of the features that bolster autocrats also present vulnerabilities. Kotkin is the preeminent biographer of the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, a close observer of contemporary Russian and Chinese politics, and a sharp analyst of American foreign policy. He spoke with Executive Editor Justin Vogt on Friday, March 13, and explained what makes authoritarian regimes tick, how their weaknesses can be exploited, and what history tells us about the prospects of success for the American and Israeli effort at regime change in Iran. Increasingly, it seems that a very public and nationalized Christianity is bouncing back as a live, contested question around the world, and there's a temptation to exist on the extremes of either loyalty to the point of idolatry, or total opposition to the point of suspicion of the human beings we need to get along with every day. That creates a dilemma for Christian witness, one that can perhaps only be solved by the courage and fortitude to live in the tension this creates, honoring everyone's dignity, and not falling into a gross idolatry of the state. Oxford's Regius Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology Luke Bretherton joins Ryan McAnnally-Linz to name what's happening as Christianity sees a resurgence in democratic public life, and what faithful witness demands. In this episode, Bretherton reflects on Christianity's re-emergence and the theology it requires. Together they discuss the real-time collapse of secular progressivism, democratic agency, Augustine on glory and shame, how media monetizes suspicion, why community organizing outlasts protest, and how the church might tell a truer—and more costly—story about common life. Episode Highlights "The plausibility structure of Christianity is kind of back in play in the post-progressive vibe shift." "We want to have enemies—it's really hard to organize the world around love of enemies, and it's hard to make money off love of enemies." "How do you express loyalty to your particular political community—loyalty without idolatry?" "The giving over of responsibility is itself an act of self-dehumanizing." "The uncle who drives you crazy at Thanksgiving is also the one who turns up with a bake when your child is ill—that's how idolatry works." About Luke Bretherton Luke Bretherton is Regius Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at Oxford, director of the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Life, and a canon of Christ Church. In doing my inner child work, I realized that from about age 8 I took this message:Be perfect or be rejected.By God, by family, by church, by friends.Sure, you could repent and make things right…But you were always one sin or misstep away from being rejected. It's not a fun way to live.As I've come to know God better, I believe he is unfairly generous with us.He's looking for us to come to Him and know Him…Not waiting for us to make a mistake to punish us.So, I've decided to trust that unfair generosity…And try to give it to myself, my wife, my kids, my friends and the people I interact with.It feels very freeing and powerful.Watch on YouTube here.Dr. Mike P.S. How do strong men pray? Not timid. Not passive. Not repetitive religious phrases. Strong men pray audacious and bold prayers that align with God's will, carry spiritual authority, and impact their marriage, family, and future. In this episode, we break down what powerful prayer looks like for Christian husbands who want to lead their homes with confidence and faith. Too many men pray small because they think small. But Scripture shows us that bold faith moves mountains, changes atmospheres, and sets the spiritual tone of a household. If you are a Christian husband looking to strengthen your marriage, deepen your faith, and become the spiritual leader your wife and children need, this teaching will challenge you. We talk about praying with conviction, praying Scripture, removing doubt, and developing a consistent prayer life that builds strength instead of weakness.Audacious prayer is not arrogance. It is confidence in God's promises. If you want a stronger marriage, clearer direction, and real breakthrough in your life, it starts in your prayer life.Watch this episode and learn how strong men truly pray.Desire to be a High level Husband who is on Fire, Free, and Followed? This episode came off the back of a simple check in. A guy who has been in our world for years. Solid. Capable. Driven. But the last few weeks had hit him hard. Illness. Injury. Standards slipping. Weight creeping up. Mood dipping. The quiet drift that most men pretend is not happening. When I asked him why he did not reach out, his answer was honest. Part of me still thinks I can fix this on my own. That right there is the trap. In this episode I talk about emotional resilience. What it actually is. Why most men overestimate it. And why trying to carry everything alone is like walking through life with a 200 pound Bergen on your back. We cover: • Why fear feels heavier than we admit • The difference between processing emotion and being crushed by it • The danger of the lone wolf mentality • How ego keeps men stuck in drift • Why emotional resilience is built in environment, not isolation • What really happens when you ignore the problem for too long I share my own fear patterns. The fear of losing everything. The way grief has resurfaced old wounds. And how resilience is not about pretending you are fine, but learning how to regulate, process and move forward with strength. If you feel like life has been heavier than it should be. If you have been carrying it quietly. If you know your standards have slipped but you keep telling yourself you will sort it out alone. Listen to this.

In this episode of the Brave Co. podcast, I dive deep into the concept that no young man should stumble into manhood. As fathers, the best gift we can give our sons is a clear pathway to adulthood. This journey doesn't just happen—it's intentional. I discuss the significance of Brave Co.'s Rite of Passage, a 30-hour weekend designed to help fathers and sons encounter God together, push limits, and leave forever changed. This isn't a retreat or conference—it's a transformative experience.Join me and NFL Champion Steve Weatherford as we share our insights on fatherhood, leadership, and the power of vulnerability in raising strong, capable men. We discuss how true masculinity is about strength tested, faith forged, and fathers leading their sons by example. Fathers, this episode is for you—if you're ready to give your son the best gift he could ever receive, this is your call to action. We also explore the upcoming Brave Co. Ride of Passage, a weekend event in Jacksonville, Florida, where we'll break a wild horse, run a Spartan Race, and set our sons on a path toward manhood. Fad workouts have been with us for decades, but they go back much further than we realize. Long before CrossFit, Zumba, P90X, Tae Box, Jazzercise or Jack LaLanne, we had 19th century strongmen. These mustachioed showmen were the first global fitness influencers. They hauled trunks of weights onto steamships, toured the world, then sold exercise equipment through the mail. The most famous was Eugene Sandow, who broke chains, and created with his own body a "manned cavalry bridge" where he would lie down while men, horses, and a carriage were driven over his body. He even fought a lion in front of an auditorium and won, although the lion was almost definitely sedated. Today’s guest is Connor Heffernan, author of “When Fitness Went Global: The Rise of Physical Culture in the Nineteenth Century.” In this episode, we discuss: Ancient Egyptians were basically doing CrossFit thousands of years ago. They trained with swinging sandbags that look exactly like modern kettlebell flows. One of the first exercise practices to experience globalization was Indian club-swinging. Indian club-swinging, originating from the heavy training clubs used by Indian wrestlers and soldiers for centuries, was observed and adopted by British military officers stationed in India during the early 1800s. Early diet culture was a carnival of quack science. Victorian fitness magazines were filled with miracle tonics, starvation cures and pseudoscientific meal plans. Many of our “new” diet trends are rebranded versions of schemes first marketed with sepia portraits and dubious testimonials. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What makes some men unshakeable in the face of adversity while others crumble under pressure? In this powerful episode of The Self Esteem and Confidence Mindset, I'm sharing the 5 key traits I've observed in highly confident and resilient men—the characteristics that separate strong, successful men from those who stay stuck in self-doubt, fear, and mediocrity. These aren't just personality quirks—these are learnable, cultivatable traits that any man can develop to build unshakeable confidence, mental toughness, and the resilience to overcome any challenge. As 2025 closes, the headlines tempt us to interpret history as a contest of strongmen, markets, and machines. Scripture won't let us stop there—God rules the nations, weighs the church, and judges what our age calls "private" sins with public consequences. This year-in-review asks not merely what happened, but what God is doing, and whether we will repent where it matters most. The goal is sobriety, courage, and a return to first priorities: fear God, take up the cross, and disciple the next generation.

What does it actually mean to be a man in today's world? In this conversation, Pastor Joby Martin joins Chad Robichaux to confront what they call a growing manhood crisis inside the church and across culture. From biblical masculinity to responsibility, leadership, courage, repentance, and love, this episode challenges the modern caricatures of manhood and calls men back to their God-given role as providers, protectors, servant leaders, and spiritual anchors for their families.Drawing from Scripture, personal stories, and real-world leadership, Joby explains why strength and tenderness are not opposites and why passivity rooted in fear is devastating families and communities. Whether you're a man searching for direction or someone who wants to understand how strong men shape healthy families and cultures, this episode delivers truth without compromise.Get the book Stand Firm and Act Like Men: https://a.co/d/9ZA1zoELearn more about Church of Eleven22: https://coe22.comFollow Joby: https://www.instagram.com/jobypmartinRESILIENT:Live Resilient Store: https://shop.theresilientshow.comJoin Our Patreon: https://patreon.com/theresilientshowFollow Us On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/resilientshowFollow Us On Twitter: https://twitter.com/resilientshowFollow Us On TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@resilientshowFollow Chad:https://www.instagram.com/chadrobo_officialhttps://www.x.com/chadroboChad's Jacket is from: https://thenormalbrand.comChad's Jeans are from: https://devil-dog.comSPONSORS:Smith & Wesson: https://www.smith-wesson.com/Vortex Optics:https://vortexoptics.comGatorz Eyewear: https://www.gatorz.com/Allied Wealth:https://alliedwealth.comBioPro+: https://www.bioproteintech.com/CHAD30BioXCellerator:https://www.bioxcellerator.comThe Holy Waters:https://theholywaters.comGet The Resilient Show x Uncharted Supply Co Bag: https://shop.theresilientshow.comSLNT: https://slnt.comTRS is a proud supporter of military & first responder communities in partnership with Mighty Oaks Foundation.
