In this Christmas Eve message from Luke 2, we hear the angel's announcement spoken straight into the darkness: “Do not be afraid.” Discover how true joy doesn't come from changed circumstances, but from God's gracious action—sending His Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior, Messiah, and Lord. Into real fear, God brings peace. Into real darkness, God sends light.Mission Church — www.missionlasvegas.com

The Pressure Paradox | Finding Joy in a Burnout CultureWe live in a "pressure cooker" culture. From financial stress to the pressure to perform, it often feels like the weight of the world is crushing us. But what if the answer isn't to build thicker skin, but to change what's inside? In this message, Pastor Charlie explores the "Pressure Paradox." Using a surprising lesson from the Mariana Snailfish—a creature that survives crushing depths not with armor, but with internal pressure—we discover how biblical Joy acts as a stabilizer for our souls. In this message, we cover:

Merry Christmas from Media Gratiae. In this special episode, Jordan and John conclude their series on meditating on the incarnation of Jesus. They explore what it means that Christ took on our flesh without sin, how the incarnation shapes our reconciliation with the Father, and much more. Of particular focus is a practical application that has been especially meaningful to Jordan: how the incarnation of Jesus equips us to wage war against and mortify our own sin. Christ is the only human to fully experience the weight of temptation, yet He never yielded. He endured to the very end, glorifying the Father fully. We pray that this episode, along with the linked Scriptural meditations and the series as a whole, nourishes your soul this Christmas season and strengthens you in the year to come 25 Meditations on the Incarnation: https://shop.mediagratiae.org/pages/advent-meditations Good Tiding of Great Joy by Charles Spurgeon https://banneroftruth.org/us/store/devotionalsdaily-readings/good-tidings-of-great-joy/ Jordan recommends this Christmas Devotional: https://grace-ebooks.com/library/J. Christmas isn't just a tradition we repeat; it's a moment that interrupts real life. In Luke 2, God sends angels to shepherds, not kings or religious leaders, to show us that this good news is for everyone. Jesus comes as Savior because we need rescue, and as King because we're not meant to run life on our own. When we receive him, Christmas changes us, bringing peace with God, joy that isn't based on circumstances, and a calling to share the good news with others. As we celebrate another Christmas on this side of eternity, we want to halt the news in its tracks (since there are never good tidings nor great joy most weeks) and talk about Isaiah, David’s throne, and some of the lighter things that make the holidays joyful. It’s always bittersweet, Christmas – because the chains we have that tie us to this planet mean we suffer hurt, loss and difficulty all through the year. But at the same time that sweet-sour paradigm allows us to rejoice and carry on because on the other side is hope. For those who aren’t drawn into the study of last days, we need to ask ourselves why, because we can’t get to the hope part quite yet. Jesus IS our hope, and while the things of God seem far away at times, He is ever near. He will return. We look at Isaiah 9 which is loaded with familiar Christmas verses, but what are the deeper aspects? Unto us. A Child is born. Children are born every day in the flesh. Oh wait – a Son is given! Humanity, and divinity in one verse. We also talk Christmas carols, full of doctrine; the promise of a Messiah on David’s throne despite a curse in the lineage, and who exactly were those Magi? A fun hour of chat about holiday Spirit and letting God use us however that might look right now.

A 15-minute podcast of Bible teaching, Monday - Friday, by the President and Editor of the Sword of the Lord Publishers, Dr. Shelton Smith.
“And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host praising God saying, ‘Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased.'” (Luke 2:13-14). In Luke's Gospel, praise erupts in heaven and on earth—angels rejoicing above, shepherds celebrating below. Christ the Savior was born! Hope slipped quietly into the world as God Himself came to rescue and redeem. This Christmas Eve, our Waterbrooke Church family will join the chorus of believers through the ages, rejoicing with great joy that our Savior has come. He is worthy of all our praise, and we cannot stay silent!
Luke 2:1-20 • The Nativity of Our Lord – Christmas Eve
The sermon centers on the angelic announcement to shepherds in Luke 2, emphasizing that the birth of Jesus is the fulfillment of God's redemptive promise and the ultimate good news of great joy for all people. It highlights how the message begins with 'fear not'—not as a command, but as a divine invitation to replace dread with hope, rooted in the reality of a Savior born in humility and poverty. The angel's proclamation reveals Jesus as Christ the Lord, the long-awaited deliverer whose arrival transforms humanity's condition of spiritual death and enmity with God into new life through grace. Drawing from Ephesians 2, the sermon underscores that this salvation is not earned but freely given, restoring relationship with God and calling believers to live as God's purposeful work. Ultimately, the Christmas message is not merely historical but deeply personal and universal, calling all to experience the joy of redemption and to faithfully proclaim it.
Pastor Peter took us to Mary's story in the gospel of Luke and reminded us that nothing is impossible with God.

Advent is the time each year when the church slows down to focus on the words of the angels in Luke 2: "For behold I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people." What is this good news and why does it cause great joy? This holiday season, we will take a dive into both, explore their meaning, and why it can bring breakthrough in each of our lives!

In Good Tidings of Great Joy, Pastor Bryan Hudson teaches that joy is central to God's redemptive plan and flows from living in God's presence. Drawing from Psalm 16:11 and Luke 2, he explains that joy is not the same as happiness—happiness is momentary, but joy is constant, like the air we breathe when we remain in God's presence. The angelic announcement of Jesus' birth reveals that the gospel itself is “good tidings of great joy” meant for all people. Jesus came to create the conditions for humanity to experience God's presence, receive new life, and live in sustained joy. Pastor Hudson emphasizes that rejoicing is the outward expression of inward joy, and believers are called not only to experience joy themselves but to share it with others through acts of love, service, and outreach—helping people encounter the lasting joy found only in Christ.
