In this episode, Mark Ledlow joins Ken Carrasco's podcast, Fortify Your Future, to discuss handling adversity and building a fearless career in corporate and physical security. Mark offers actionable value by inviting listeners to DM him on LinkedIn for guidance on transitioning into the industry and emphasizes that relationships and back-channel networking often open doors more than resumes. He recounts his own military-to-private-sector transition, including moving from Oregon to Southern California, spending 6–12 months obtaining California licensing (guard card, exposed permit, CCW), adjusting professional presentation, and building connections through coffees and lunches. He credits “knowing somebody who knew somebody” for landing his first job with Pinkerton and stresses that in security, each day on the job is an interview and work can be ad hoc. He advises those transitioning to start licensing early, network aggressively, and vet associations carefully due to unscrupulous characters and reputational risk. They discuss the importance of in-person conferences to validate relationships and build trust, with Mark recommending groups and events such as IPSB, the Close Protection Conference (noting it is volunteer-run/nonprofit), Silicon Valley Security Group, ASIS/GSX (including executive protection standardization efforts), and EP Access mixers. Mark encourages young professionals to invest in themselves, present professionally, ask for lunches or dinners (and offer to pay), seek out the smartest people, accept constructive criticism, and remember everyone is replaceable. The conversation shifts to “next gen” workforce challenges: differing communication styles (texting over calls/email), expectations around work-life balance, rapid recognition, and job-hopping. Ken argues leaders should be more participatory in career development rather than expecting conformity. Mark says leaders should ask what motivates each person, understand their family and psychological context, and build trust through genuine care; he describes using profit sharing and small gestures (e.g., upgrading travel) to support his team while noting loyalty cannot be bought. They address social media as unavoidable and platform-specific, with LinkedIn described as most reliable but requiring careful vetting; Mark notes clients research companies online and form opinions from posted content, and both highlight the growing impact of AI and the importance of authenticity and face-to-face connection. Looking ahead to 2026, Mark outlines Ludlow Security's strategic focus amid elections, geopolitics, and major events (Super Bowl in San Francisco, World Cup, Olympics). He describes increasing international relationships, supporting travel teams, expanding residential security and site security, providing risk/threat assessments, and launching a chauffeur driving course with Texas-based training (including FBO/tarmac simulations). He mentions interest in guard work opportunities in Texas (e.g., construction), growing work with family offices, private equity, and law firms, and expanding licensing to the East Coast. Mark also shares a personal impact story of a former team member crediting a job opportunity with saving his life, reinforcing his motivation to support veterans and law enforcement amid post-COVID mental health struggles. The episode closes with mutual appreciation and a shared emphasis on adding value and lifting the industry through community and digital media.Learn about all this and more in this episode of The Fearless Mindset Podcast.KEY TAKEAWAYSNetworking is essential - Success in the security industry depends heavily on relationships and who you know, not just submitting resumes onlinePlan your transition early - Allow 6-12 months to obtain proper licensing, permits, and certifications when transitioning from military/law enforcement to private sectorAttend industry conferences - Face-to-face interactions at events like IPSB, Close Protection Conference, and ASIS GSX are crucial for vetting relationships and building trustInvest in personal growth - Young professionals must focus on self-improvement, ask questions, and surround themselves with people who challenge themUnderstand next-gen motivations - Leaders need to discover what drives their team members and help them achieve their goals to build loyaltyEach day is an interview - The security industry requires proving yourself daily; no one is irreplaceableSocial media requires strategy - Use platforms purposefully and professionally; LinkedIn is the primary business networking toolBuild authentic relationships - In an age of AI and superficiality, face-to-face authenticity and trust-building are more critical than everQUOTES"You're replaceable. "Politics is about choices—who do you stand with and for, and who are you against?"⭐ The debate over the capital gains tax discount is here to stay. Many Gen Z's and Millennials are fully aware that they will be unable to afford a home without major tax reform - and that's only the start. But with older and asset-rich Australians benefiting heavily from the CGT discount, is it too politically dangerous to give it the axe?

This week's Mixtape Rewind takes us back to season 2 where we started off looking at second albums from artists. We pull from a wide spectrum—Bowie and Springsteen, Weezer and George Strait, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Kacey Musgraves, Childish Gambino and AJR, Vampire Weekend, All-American Rejects, Foo Fighters, and Kanye—to map the patterns behind sophomore success. The result is a guided, story-rich playlist that shows how voice, risk, and timing can turn “album two” into the real breakthrough. We start with liftoff—David Bowie's Space Oddity—then punch into the live-wire storytelling of Springsteen's Rosalita. From there, the conversation pivots to reinvention: Weezer's Pinkerton, once dismissed, now revered for its raw edge; George Strait's grounded homesickness that proves classic country doesn't need novelty to resonate; and Macklemore's Thrift Shop, which became a phenomenon by celebrating thrift finds instead of luxury culture. You'll hear how Kacey Musgraves' Biscuits distills social wisdom into wry, singable lines, and how Childish Gambino's 3005 pairs melodic pull with a search for purpose that gives the hook real weight. We dig into narrative and craft, too. AJR's Netflix Trip turns The Office into a memory map for growing up, while Vampire Weekend's Horchata blends intricate arrangements with playful rhyme in a way that feels both brainy and breezy. Rock anchors the back half: All-American Rejects deliver a straight-shot hook with Dirty Little Secret, and Foo Fighters' Everlong crystallizes the band's identity as they evolve from a one-man debut to a full-force collective. We close on Kanye's Gone, a late-album standout from Late Registration that proves the deepest cuts often hold the longest fuse. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/78UWWKd8DuntJfsrnJRWEn?si=Jw_1rDNCQkGJFe1PONg-6ASpace Oddity by David BowieRosalita by Bruce SpringsteenThe Good Life by WeezerI Can't See Texas From Here by George StraitThrift Shop by Macklemore & Ryan LewisBiscuits by Kacey Musgraves3005 by Childish GambinoNetflix Trip by AJRHorchata by Vampire WeekendDirty Little Secret by The All-American RejectsEverlong by Foo FighteresGone by Kanye West Support the showVisit us at https://www.superawesomemix.com to learn more about our app, our merchandise, our cards, and more!

In this powerful episode of What Are You Made Of ? , Mike “C-Roc” sits down with psychotherapist, coach, speaker, and writer Jennifer “Jenn” Pinkerton for a deeply personal and thought-provoking conversation about connection, trauma, and the stories we tell ourselves. Jenn opens up about the early loss of her father and how that pivotal moment shaped her identity, relationships, and her journey from being a “storyteller” and chameleon for acceptance to becoming a truth teller rooted in authenticity and emotional growth. Together, Mike "C-Roc" and Jenn explore how core wounds like abandonment, unworthiness, and not belonging can influence everything from our careers and relationships to how we show up in the world, and how doing the hard emotional work can transform those patterns. Jenn also shares her path into psychotherapy, her passion for helping individuals and couples heal relational wounds, and her continued pursuit of growth through her PhD in clinical sexology, specializing in intimacy and healing after infidelity. This episode is a raw, insightful look at what it truly means to return to who you were before trauma shaped your story and to live a bold, connected, and authentic life.Website-Jennpinkerton.com Social Media Links/Handles-https://www.facebook.com/jenniferbpinkerton https://www.instagram.com/jennbpinkerton/https://www.linkedin.com/in/jennifer-pinkerton-73817b27/https://www.tiktok.com/@redheadreveal

SynopsisOpera fanatics are a passionate lot. “It's an addiction,” they say. “Something to die for.” Now, if opera is an addiction, then today's date marks the birthdate of an Italian composer who might be described as the ultimate operatic gateway drug. We're talking, of course, about Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini, who was born in Lucca, in 1858. Puccini is the composer of three of the most popular operas ever written: La Bohème (in 1896), Tosca (in 1900), and Madama Butterfly (in 1904).Puccini lived and worked during the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, and his music brilliantly blended the gorgeous melodies of the 19th century Italian bel canto tradition with the raw, often brutal dramatics of the emerging verismo, or “realism” theatrics of the 20th century. Unlike 19th century operas, when time stands still while a soprano sings how happy (or miserable) she is, in Puccini's operas time always moves on, often relentlessly as the action hurls toward the, usually, unhappy ending, when the soprano dies of consumption, throws herself off a castle tower, or dies by ritual suicide with a Japanese dagger. After all, Puccini's operas really are “something to die for.”Music Played in Today's ProgramGiacomo Puccini (1858-1924): “Pinkerton's Farewell” and “The Death Of Butterfly” from Madama Butterfly; Kostelanetz Orchestra; Andre Kostelanetz, conductor; Columbia MDK 46285
On today's episode, we're sharing our thoughts on the recent Pinkerton's Barbecue food review, NEW BBQ toys, and we changed the podcast room...again!
Klagt Puccini an?

Constitutional Chats hosted by Janine Turner and Cathy Gillespie
At over 200 years old, the Monroe Doctrine is one of the longest lasting attempts to craft foreign policy for our country. Declared in 1823 by President James Monroe, it laid the framework for the relationship between the United States and the Western Hemisphere. But why was it so important? What details did it address? How is it relevant today and is it actually enforced? To discuss this seminal foreign policy doctrine, we are welcoming two guests: Kirk Higgins is the Vice President of Content at the Bill of Rights Institute and Jim Pinkerton is a Senior Fellow at Center for American Prosperity at the America First Policy Institute, author and commentator.

To hear eps as originally intended, please listen on the Patreon or Substack. We're picking back up our brief, alternative history of American class violence, the anticommunist apparatus, and anti-syndicalist dynamite false flags, much wider spread than even I would have realized, this time honing in on a number of rhyming, causal & effective deep events rippling down the welded wrought iron links of the anchor chain of history, largely Chicago and Milwaukee concentric sagas of strike action and counterinsurgent reactions by the capitalist powers that be.File today's episode under: the Haymarket Affair; the Bay View Massacre at the North Chicago Rolling Mills steel foundry that left at least seven Polish, German, and Native workers dead the day following the bloodbath in the Windy City; the 8 Hour Work Day movement; the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions (FOTLU), precursor to AFL; the snake Samuel Gompers; Milwaukee Central Labor Union socialist Paul Grottkau; Catholic Church Knights of Labor's Robert Shilling; Gov. Rusk; "shoot to kill" orders; Cpt. Treaumer muttering "halt" orders under his breath; the N. Chi Rolling Mills into Illinois Steel Company and then rolled up into US Steel come J.P. Morgan's Carnegie and otherwise monopolistic consolidation; Kosciusko Militia; FOTLU and Gomper's feud with the Knights of Labor; the labor significance of the phrase "amalgamated" (formed of individual craft unions) and what this says about ST protagonist Hicks McTaggart's work as strikebreaking PI for UNamalgamated Ops; Pynchon gets real Hobsbawmian, Gramscian, and Adamic-ian with it; "Haymarket FRAME-UP job"; explicitly references Bay View and Rolling Mills; Debs Rebellion; Pullman Strike; Henry Clay Frick nearly merc-ed by Berkman; the Gov. Steunenberg dynamiting; Big Bill Haywood's framing close shave; James McParland; Harry Orchard's confessions under duress; Pinkerton's; more US Steel; Mine Owners Association; Clarence Darrow; WFM; Wobblies; the McNamara Affair, the LA Times Building Bombing, and brothers J.J. and J.B.; surprise guilty pleas kneecapping the Job Harriman socialist mayoral candidacy in LA; spies catch Darrow bribing jurors?; Propaganda of the Deed comes to Milwaukee... or maybe not; the Italian Evangelical Church; ex-Catholic priest Rev. August Giuliani, MPD and BOI/DOJ informant; rabble rousing in the Third Ward, singing jingoistic songs, proselytizing to Catholics (which they didn't take kindly to from an apostate priest cum Protestant), and offering to pay for any anti-war anarchists or leftists of varying stripes' return tickets to the boot of Italy, all painting a picture of the gadfly pastor acting on behalf of federal law enforcement and local business interests with his troublemaking in the Ward; faced down by anarchists like Maria Nardini; the Bay View Riots, multiple Italian immigrant residents of Cream City killed by officers of the law with false flag violence (Antonio Fornasier and August Marinelli killed in the fray); the Milwaukee Station House Bombing of 1917; the comedy of errors; single deadliest day for law enforcement in American history up until 9/11; the curious lag in MPD response to the bomb's arrival at Giuliani's church; the claim the IMOPIO or infernal machine was anarchist made being sourced from BOI agent Julius Brown and possibly a Milwaukee congressman by way of MPD Capt. John T. Sullivan; the Galleanisti, followers of anarcho-communist Deed-Propagandist and advocate of various nitroglycerin and lead means for affecting change, squarely in the crosshairs; and much much more, breadcrumb trails we'll resume tracing next time.

Join me as I sit down with Jonathan Courtney to host the second annual “Sippy Awards,” the most prestigious award show in tech for the products, games, and tools that shaped 2025. We crown our most-hyped products for 2026, favorite games of the year, best productivity tools, and best products under $100. We also dive into analog tools like Traveler's Notebook, hi-fi systems, Japanese porcelain, and simple clothing uniforms as ways to make everyday life better and de-fragment your brain. Timestamps 00:00 – Intro 03:23 – Most Hyped Product of 2026 14:43 – Game of the Year 2025 19:49 – The Way to Innovate 25:41 – Premium Domains 29:56 – Best Productivity Product 42:02 – Favorite Product of 2025 54:10 – Best products under $100. Key Points The Sippy Awards are a playful but serious way for Greg and Jonathan to highlight the products and games that genuinely improved their lives in 2025. They argue that cult classics (Wind Waker, Pinkerton, Kid A, Breath of the Wild, Elden Ring) come from creators who put the audience last and follow their own taste, even at the risk of initial backlash. Distinctive visual identities and premium dot-com domains are framed as both trust builders for users and commitment devices for founders. Their favorite productivity and lifestyle tools—ChatGPT, Things, Endel, Traveler's Notebook, YouTube Premium, Japanese porcelain—show how small, well-crafted tools reshape daily workflows and rituals. Analog practices (morning pages, notebooks, hi-fi listening) and simple clothing uniforms are presented as ways to de-fragment your brain, reduce decision fatigue, and focus on what matters.
