Episode Notes In this episode, Golden State Killer survivor, Carol, shares her story publicly for the first time with the #StillHere Podcast. Her story provides a missing puzzle piece that addresses the question of what this prolific killer was doing after his last known murder. Watch the video interview with Carol by becoming a member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/stillherepod “Tiny Dick DeAngelo” was first discussed on the #StillHere Podcast in “Season 1, Episode 2: Jane Carson-Sandler.” The Golden State Killer started his reign of terror as the Visalia Ransacker by spying on women and ransacking houses in Visalia California from 1973 to 1976. After killing a man there, he moved on to raping women in Sacramento and surrounding areas from 1976 to 1979. At this time, he was known as the East Area Rapist. After this, he moved to Orange County where he killed at least 10 people between 1979 and 1986. At this time he was known as the Original Night Stalker. It wasn't until years later that DNA helped police learn that these three criminals were the same man. As far as we know, he stopped killing and attacking in 1986. He was arrested in April of 2018 and convicted in the Fall of 2020. May he rot. Four women are forever linked by the East Area Rapist (otherwise known as the Golden State Killer). Their stories are different but they are united through their desire to expose the man behind the mask. Jane Carson Sandler, Debbi Domingo, Margaret Wardlow and Michelle Cruz call themselves the "Sister Survivors." They live in South Carolina, Texas, Georgia and California. We spoke with them at Crime Con in Nashville after they learned of the arrest of suspect Joseph DeAngelo.
With the arrest of Joseph DeAngelo, who allegedly murdered at least a dozen people and rape more than 50 women between 1976 and 1986, the survivors and the families of the dead are telling their stories. Four of them talked to Nancy Grace for a special Crime Stories live event at CrimeCon2018. Jane Carson-Sandler was the 5th victim of what was then known as Sacramento's "East Area Rapist." Margaret Wardlow was the youngest to be assaulted by Sacramento's "East Area Rapist." Debbi Domingo was a teenager in 1981 when the "Golden State Killer" murdered her mother. Michelle Cruz is the surviving sister of Janelle Cruz, who is the last known victim to be raped and beaten to death by the "Golden State Killer." Nancy is also joined by forensics expert Joseph Scott Morgan, private detective Vincent Hill, juvenile judge Ashley Willcott, and lawyer Renee Rockwell.
A former cop has been arrested for murders long associated with the Golden State Killer, apparently bringing the decades-old cold case to an end. Nancy Grace and co-host Alan Duke share the latest in the case. Nancy also talks with Jane Carson-Sandler -- the 5th victim, Michelle Cruz -- sister of a murder victim, Billy Jenson --an investigative journalist who completed the raw chapters of victim Michelle McNamara’s “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark,” Paul Haynes -- a researcher on McNamara’s book, and Cold Case Research Institute director Sheryl McCollum.
The Golden State Killer is a burglar, rapist serial killer who has terrorized California for decades starting in the 1970s. One man is believed to have committed as many as 50 sexual assaults and over 10 murders. Nancy Grace explores the case with Jane Carson-Sandler, the 5th victim and author of "Frozen in Fear: A True Story of Surviving the Shadows of Death," Michelle Cruz, sister of a murder victim, Billy Jenson, an investigative journalist who completed the raw chapters of victim Michelle McNamara’s “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark,” Paul Haynes, a researcher on McNamara’s book, and Cold Case Research Institute director Sheryl McCollum.

EAR/ONS BONUS EPISODE #1 Interviews with Jane Carson-Sandler & Carol Daly Jane Carson-Sandler survived the brutal attack and rape of the East Area Rapist in the October of 1976. She is the fifth known survivor. She was in bed with her three-year-old son when they were attacked. Her attack had come off the back of around a month of hang up calls. These calls had escalated, and one time, Jane told the caller to stop, the voice then told her he was going to kill her husband. Police who were not linked to the Rapist investigation assured the family it sounded like a prank…
