On Friday, November 24th, 1989, eighteen-year-old Amanda Stavik, who went by Mandy, went for a run around 2:30 in the afternoon. Kyra, the family's German Shepherd, ran with her. This run was often a family affair, with Mandy's mother, Mary, joining on her bike. Because of the holiday, though, Mary was busy at the time, so Mandy decided to head out alone. When Kyra returned to the family home without Amanda, the family became worried. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the murder of Amanda Stavik. The family's worry quickly increased after searching for her but finding nothing. Three days after she went missing, the search for Mandy came to a sad end when she was found dead, submerged in the Nooksack River. Ellen was found dead in her apartment in 2011 with 20 stab wounds, including some to her back and neck.   Ellen's death was ruled a suicide and many people have argued that this ruling was incorrect.  How could someone stab themselves multiple times in the back? Ellen's parents have fought for years to have her case re-examined and their petition was granted this year.   Another medical examiner reviewed the reports and information available, and again, ruled that Ellen's death was a suicide. A special episode from Meg & Amy's other podcast, Campus Killings while Meg & Amy take some time off for the holidays. In this episode, we explore the 2014 disappearance and murder of Hannah Graham; an 18 year old student at University of Virginia. She vanished on September 13 of that year. A large scale search for her was conducted, which to this day, is still the largest missing persons search conducted in the state of VA. Unfortunately, nothing was found. Then, five weeks after she vanished, her body was found on an abandoned property. She had been murdered. Police had a potential suspect early on; an unknown man who was captured on surveillance cameras leaving a bar with Hannah. He was finally identified as Jesse Matthew, and when police investigated him, they discovered that he was a serial predator. It's the case of Rhonda Hinson which originally aired on 237 in December, 2022.  We will be back with all new episodes starting January 3, 2026. Happy holidays!   On December 22nd, 1981, 19-year-old Rhonda Annette Hinson headed to an office Christmas party. In the early morning of the 23rd, she was found about a half mile from her home lying outside her car on the should of the road. The police determined that Rhonda had been shot by a high-powered rifle that went through her trunk, back seat, and into the driver's seat. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the baffling death of Rhonda Hinson. Witnesses came forward the descriptions of cars seen near Rhonda's car. Police had to figure out if these were people involved in Rhonda's death or people who stopped to see what was happening. What clouded the waters even more was that it was revealed that Rhonda was not supposed to come home that night, and only a few people knew of her change in plans. The police looked closely at Rhonda's boyfriend, Greg, and a friend named Mark, whose girlfriend said she saw Rhonda's sweater in his car before Rhonda was killed. That sweater was later found in Rhonda's car. 41 years later, two big questions remain. What exactly happened in the death of Rhonda Hinson, and who was involved? Episode 68 Virginia Olsen On a brisk spring day in April of 1973, University of North Carolina-Asheville drama major, Virginia Olsen, was found brutally murdered in the University's botanical gardens. Though her homicide was rigorously investigated, only rumors surround her story now, and her case remains unsolved over fifty years later. In 2007, in Carnation, Washington, a terrible tragedy unfolded. When 61-year-old Judy Anderson didn't show up to work on December 26th, a friend and co-worker drove to her place. What she discovered was an unimaginable scene. Six members of the Anderson family, including Judy's husband Wayne, were found dead inside the home. From early on, police felt that they had a strong suspect, Ernie Gable, and even physical evidence that may help to prove it. But the case remained cold for decades. Episode 67 Tucker Hipps Clemson University sophomore, Tucker Hipps, pledged to Sigma Phi Epsilon and joined their pledge run on Sept 22nd, 2014. He never returned, and his body was later found floating in Hartwell Lake under the I-93 bridge. Twenty-nine SigEp members were with Tucker on the run, but none of them came forward to explain how he died. On April 13th, 2011, twenty-year-old Holly Bobo, a nursing student at the University of Tennessee at Martin, was abducted from her Darden, Tennessee home. She woke up early that morning to study for an 8 AM exam. Her parents were at work, but her brother was home and saw her outside with a man he thought was her boyfriend. Then a man came forward to say he knew what had happened to Holly and implicated others. On August 12th, 1967, Buford and Pauline Pusser were ambushed while driving, and Pauline was fatally shot. Buford was shot in the jaw. Buford Pusser was the Sheriff of McNairy County in Tennessee and built a name for himself as tough on crime. He made many enemies, and it was thought that one of these enemies had shot him and killed his wife. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the murder of Pauline Pusser. Buford became a hero figure and vowed to find his wife's killer. The movie, Walking Tall, made Buford a larger-than-life character after it was released in 1973. Episode 66 Taylor Samson   Dalhousie University physics student, Taylor Samson, left his apartment right before school began in 2015. He told his girlfriend he'd be right back, but he never returned. A missing persons report soon turned into a murder investigation that would haunt Halifax, Nova Scotia for the next decade. From 1968 to 1985, a series of lovers' lane attacks happened in Italy, leaving several dead young couples. The killer in this case has commonly been referred to as Italy's Zodiac killer, but frighteningly, this killer had far more confirmed victims than Zodiac. On October 31st, 1974, the O'Bryan family set out for Halloween in Deer Park, just outside of Houston, Texas. Despite the rain, Ronald Clark O'Bryan and neighbor Jim Bates took their kids, four in total, out to trick or treating. But this Halloween turned out to be fatal for one of the O'Bryan children. On May 30th, 2025, thirty-two-year-old Travis Decker went to his ex-wife Whitney Decker's home to pick up his 3 daughters, all under the age of ten, for a visit. In May 2016, thirty-one-year-old mother of three, Nicole VanderHeyden, was found dead. It was apparent she had been murdered due to the state of her injuries. Nicole, who went by Nikki, disappeared after a night out with her boyfriend and other friends. The authorities immediately began looking at Nikki's boyfriend. Major breaking news here as serial killer Robert Eugene Brashers has been identified as being responsible for the infamous quadruple Yogurt Shop murder in December, 1991 in Austin, TX.  Killed were Jennifer Harbison, and Eliza Thomas who were employees of the 'I Can't Believe it's Yogurt' shop in Austin, along with Jennifer's sister Sarah Harbison, and her friend Amy Ayers who were in the shop in order to get a ride home with Jennifer after closing. All four girls were shot in the head execution style and at least one of them was raped. After they were killed, the shop was set on fire to cover up the crime and destroy evidence.  Robert Eugene Brashers was a known rapist and serial killer who roamed from state to state. Among many twisted crimes, We know Brashers was responsible for the murders of Genevieve "Jenny" Zitricki in Greenville, SC in 1990, as well as that  of mother and daughter  Sherri and Megan Scherer in Portageville, Missouri in 1998. In 2024, Matthew and Kathryn Restelli were living together on a seven-acre property in Aguanga, about eighteen miles east of Temecula, California. The couple had been married for about seven and a half years, but the marriage had started to fall apart around 2020. Kathryn decided to take the kids to her mom Tracey Grist's home in American Fork, Utah. She took the kids there without asking her husband, and that caused further friction. In 2019, forty-three-year-old Christine Holloway was living in an apartment in Ansonia, about ten miles west of New Haven, Connecticut. She was dating a man named Jose Morales. The couple had one child together, a fourteen-month-old daughter named Vanessa, who lived with Christine. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss Christine Holloway and Vanessa Morales. Episode 60 Hannah Graham Campus Killings is back with an all new season! In this episode, we explore the 2014 disappearance and murder of Hannah Graham; an 18 year old student at University of Virginia. She vanished on September 13 of that year. A large scale search for her was conducted, which to this day, is still the largest missing persons search conducted in the state of VA. Unfortunately, nothing was found. Then, five weeks after she vanished, her body was found on an abandoned property. She had been murdered. Police had a potential suspect early on; an unknown man who was captured on surveillance cameras leaving a bar with Hannah. On Saturday July 26th, 2025, officers from the Arkansas State Police were notified that there had been a double homicide in the park. The bodies were identified as forty-three-year-old Clinton Brink and forty-one-year-old Cristen Brink. The two had been hiking with two of their daughters, who are seven and nine years old, at Devil's Den State Park. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss these horrific murders. The police had a description of the attacker as well as his vehicle and looked at all the video and photos they could find from that day. They arrested twenty-eight-year-old Andrew McGann on July 31st in Springdale, Arkansas. In 2023, authorities received a call about possible human body parts in plastic bags outside of a home in Tarzana, California. When officers arrived at the scene, there were no bags in front of the house and no body parts to be found. The next morning, a man found a torso in the dumpster, which ignited an exhaustive investigation. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss Sam Haskell. The son of a Hollywood mogul, Sam was 35 years old and married with children in 2023. As the investigation unfolded, the authorities released that Sam's wife, Mei Li, and his in-laws, Yanxiang Wang and Gaoshen Li, were missing. In 2023, five people were brutally murdered in a home in Florida, and it turned out, as it does in many cases like this, that the killer was someone close to home. In 2017, 33-year-old private investigator and former police officer Taylor Wright vanished in after heading out to meet a friend. Eventually, the truth about what happened to Taylor would come out, and this would evolve into a homicide investigation; one that would lead directly to someone very close to Taylor. In 2011, 27-year-old Lauren Giddings was studying for the bar exam. She had told friends and family that she would be out of contact during this time so she could give her full attention. On January 30th, 1989, the soon to be fourteen-year-old Ilene Misheloff vanished from Dublin, California. In the early morning hours of Sat August 20th, 2016, Twenty-seven-year-old Derrick Dearman, entered the home where his twenty-four-year-old estranged girlfriend, Laneta Lester, was staying. It was Laneta's brother's home, situated approximately 30 miles outside Mobile, Alabama. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the Citronelle murders. Laneta had fled from Derrick because he was abusive. Her family turned Derrick away from the home when he showed up earlier.
